The snow was crunching under my feet, low tree branches tried to cling to my mangled hair that blew in the wind and catch on my clothes but I kept running; I couldn't allow them to get the relic. As I ran, my breath becoming labored after running so long, I looked at the small wooden relic in the shape of a wolf howling, I remembered what my old master had said "This relic will give any werewolf the ability to bring back the dead and make the werewolf more powerful"; I never fully understood what it meant, but after holding onto it for so long, I finally found out how to use it. I soon snapped back in reality when I heard the blood chilling howl of the pack, they were gaining on me fast and I couldn't keep this running up any longer, my wolf was exhausted from running so I changed human, but even she to couldn't fully outrun the pack. The howls soon sounded more closer then ever, so tucking the relic into my shirt I took one last final descission that would hopefully get the pack off of my tail, I leaped off the nearest cliff and fell to the river below. The water was cold when I splashed in it and it was running fast, but I fought to keep my head above the water and I managed to catch a glimps of the pack, those blood thirsty eyes and the odd hight of the coyotes, never in my life had I been affraid of my ancient enemy...that is until they were altered and now could match even a werewolf's strength and stamina, sometimes even outrunning them. I watched the pack deisapear and slowly, with my cold, tired and numb limbs I made my way to the opposit bank, I knew I was safe, but where was I going to go? Then it finally dawned on me, my great, great granddaught was having a grandchild born, I knew the child would be the right one to entrust the relic to so I slapped some warmth back into my limbs and made my way to my true home. The moment I arrived at the house, my eyes soon laid on the babe, she was so small yet so strong looking. When she opened her eyes, i was shocked to see how so light of blue they were. I stepped forward as the pack parted, revealing my great, great granddaughter in law holding the babe, I smiled at her and she ever so lightly handed me the young pup, I cradled her in my arms and said "What is her name?"
"Forest" came the reply of her mother. I smiled and looked down once more at the preciouse pup and said "Hello Forest, I have something for you," and with my free hand, I took the relic off of my neck and dreapped it over the small head, resting the relic on her little chest and laughed as she smiled at me. When it was time for me to go, I handed her back to her mother and told her specifically what the relic is and what it's abilities are and how to show her how to use it when she is older, then I left. My duty as the guardian was now over, passed down to the new guardian in the line, now I can leave and rest in peace.
