Chapter One.

I held in my screams as they kicked me. I curled into the fetal position, which was an old friend to me, protecting the blows from my head. I blocked out all of the insults that were thrown at me. Most people would be going to their happy place right about now, but I wasn't lucky enough to have one of those. Not in this world.
I guess I should explain myself. My name is Carolyn Grace Morrick. I have blonde frizzy/wavy hair, blue-green eyes (depending on the color I was wearing) and tannish skin. My skin was not perfect. Like most teenagers, I had blackheads and the occasional zit that would pop up out of nowhere. I was pudgy, I'll admit it. I wasn't fat, just a little... soft in places. My boobs were large and perfectly round, something my mother had so graciously passed on to me. So the only really amazing features I had were my eyes and boobs.
I am a werewolf, as were all the people who were 'teaching me a lesson' as they called it. You see, I was the weakest wolf in the pack. I had been born three weeks before my due date. So naturally, my physical abilities weren't as strong as they should be. But that didn't matter to my parents.
Every night after dinner, the four of us, the four being my mom, my dad, my brother Jake, and I, would go for a walk. They were doctor's orders since I was able to walk. He said that is would help my physical strength immensely.
My mom, Sophia, was beautiful. She had pretty blonde curls, unlike my frizzy waves, soft milky skin, and brilliant green eyes. She was Lind and compassionate, the kind of person everyone wanted to be around, and loud. Her favorite things to do were laugh and make music. She could play piano, guitar, saxophone, bass guitar, and sing. She taught me and Jake how to do all of these except bass guitar. That was next on the list, before the accident.
My dad, Carter, was the complete opposite of her physically. He had lush, dark hair and electric blue eyes. He had a couple of tattoos, piercings, and scars because he was a rebel when he was younger. He used to get into fights and throw wild parties all the time. I think he even went to jail once, only for a couple of days though because he somehow was proven innocent. He mellowed out when he started dating mom in college.
Jake was just like dad in looks and attitude, except not as many tattoos or piercings. He even had the bad boy routine down pat.
We were a happy and close-knit family. Our house was always full of laughter and music. Of course, like any normal family, we had our disputes and arguments, but we would always agree to disagree because we couldn't stay mad at each other. But this was all before the accident.
Dad had taken mom out on a date night. Jake was thirteen, old enough to be watching ten year old me without constant supervision. Mrs. Swanson, the sweet elderly lady next door who was like a grandma to us, was told to check in on us every hour to make sure everything was okay. She hawks only been gone fifteen minutes when she was back and knocking on our door.
"Mrs. Swanson, did you miss us so much that you couldn't keep away?" I heard Jake tease her.
"Oh how I wish that were the case. Come along darlings, I'll explain to you in the car." Jake and I loaded up into her old Volkswagen beetle with questioning looks etched into out features.
The confused looks didn't last long though. They twisted into shock, fear, anger, hurt, and heartbreak. Our parents had been in a terrible accident, hit by an eighteen wheeler, killing mom instantly and sending dad into a coma due to shock and injuries. It didn't matter though. He went insane when his mate died, even in his coma state, and willed himself to die. Whatever he did, it worked.
And just like that, Jake and I were orphans. Mrs. Swanson wanted us to live with her, but the court denied her plead, stating that she was far too old to raise two children. They were right, because a little over a month later, she died of old age. Jake and I went to three funerals of people who were special to us in just under 2 months.
Jake and I were left to foster care, which has put me in my current position now... kinda.
After mom and dad died, I went into a emotional state where nothing could make me happy. Basically, depression. I had nightmares about them all the time. I became distant, cold, and numb. I would barely eat or sleep (I wouldn't sleep because of the nightmares). I pretty much was a breathing potato. People cared at first, but then they gave up on caring, and saw me as a way to make themselves feel better. Add my depression to my weak physical state and I was a bright orange sign that said 'hey! I'm a easy target! Pick on me!"
Jake was the only one who could make me smile. Him and music became my best friends.Jake would always would protect me from the bullies, and music would help me forget about the incident until the next day when it would happen again.
But now I don't have Jake's protection. Instead of becoming depressed like me, he threw himself into books and more fights. He still had his bad boy rep, but only smarter. He was actually one of the few people Alpha Doug let go out of state for college instead of the community college. He is 19 now.
Me, I'm sixteen and going into my junior year of high school. My grades are all C's, nothing above, nothing less. I was always attending to my emotional and physical wounds to study more. People were lucky I even pulled off C's.
The kicking, I noticed, had finally stopped. But they weren't quite done yet. Alexander, my mate, or used to be mate since he denied me, approached.
"When will you just give up Carolyn? No one wants you here. Just leave." he sneered.Alexander was Alpha Doug's son, so he would be alpha one day when he was 18.
For once in my life, I stood up for myself.
"You're right. I'll pack my things then be on my way." I forced myself off the ground and went to my room. I packed the few things I had, and set off ins foot, since I didn't have a car, my intentions to make myself a new life.
That was 3 years ago.

** Hey guys! I had this crazy idea for this book, and I decided to run with it. I'm only putting this chapter up for a few reasons.
1) for those of you who have read it, my other book Love and War is not complete. I want to finish it before I get too caught up in this one. (there is only about 2-3 chapters left. I haven't updated because my computer is being dumb and won't let me open it's file. It will be finished before school, hopefully)
2) I want some positive feedback about this book. Like I said, the idea just popped into my head. I'm still not 100% sure if it's a great idea.
So thanks for taking time to read this, and if we aren't friends, just send me a request. Love you all :)
