The changing

Chapter 1

"Courtney, I'm not sure I should go, this is not really my scene" I said, the two of us standing just outside of Rebecca Walsh's house. It was Rebecca's 16th birthday and although she always threw the best parties I never went. This was simply because I didn't like parties and, being that I was sure I'd flunked my math test, was in no mood to be socialable.

"Nothing is ever your scene Isy! Come on, it's only one party". Courtney had yet to get me this close to an actual party in the 10 years we'd been friends and she wasn't taking any chances. She dragged me through the door that had been opened by a tall burly looking senior moments before. I tried struggling but to no avail. She had half a foot on me and was simply too strong.

Finally, I gave up fighting and did a quick mental scan of the room. Ashley Benning, head cheerleader, was sat in the lap of our rival school's highschool quarterback, Tyler Maclean. Ashley has just broken up with her boyfriend Ethan, our school's quarterback and from the edge of the room he looked on angrily as they gyrated to the sound of some generic rap track.Getting a room was clearly of no concern.

There was a group of juniors taking shots and paying something looking suspiciously familiar to spin the bottle. The rest of the crowd were a few years older than us. College students, probably there due to Becca's older brothers. There were a few other people from our grade but nobody I knew well. We'd only been invited because Becca was cousins with Courtney and I internally sighed at the thought of having to stay there for hours.

"I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be right back" I mumbled over my shoulder as I quickly made my escape. Courtney didn't notice anyway, she was already chatting to the aforementioned burly senior and blushing rather noticably.

I finally stopped watching Courtney when I was a safe distance away and went in search of a bathroom. After climbing the stairs and walking in on a couple in one of the bedrooms I finally found one and quickly stepped inside, turning the light switch on and both locking and shutting the door behind me.

For a second I analysed myself in the mirro. Unruly curling brown hair I'd gotten from my mother and the flash of ocean blue eyes I'd gotten from my father met my vision. I was wearing a black strappy silk dress I'd borrowed from Courtney. I didn't have any party dresses.

The light bulb flickered and I snapped out of a trance I didn't realise I was in. "Focus" I said to myself as I looked round the room for an escape. There. A small window that was open just a hint. There was my escape. I stood carefully on the already closed toliet seat and began to slowly crawl out of the window, there was just enough room.

Once through I jumped down and landed, surpisingly, on the balls of my feet. Thank god it was a downstairs bathroom.

"Who are you running away from?" I turned round quickly to see a tall boy who had blond hair, brown eyes and was extremly good looking staring at me.

"I'm not running from anyone" I said challengingly. The boy raised his eyebrows but didn't question what I said. Instead he held out his hand "I'm Matt, what's your name?" Said the boy.

"I'm Isabelle" I said and shook his hand. "Why are you out here?" I asked confused. "Not my scene" he said and he smiled at me.

Was he mimicking me? I wondered as he took a step towards me. Without realising it I took a step back. "I'm sorry I'm going to have to do this Isabelle" he said and that's when I knew Matt was no ordinary boy.

"Do what?" I asked taking another step back. My back hit something hard. A wall. No escape now. Good going Iz. He gave me a look of sympathy and in a flash he was beside me. "This" He said and before I could react, he bit me!

The damn sociopath had bit me? "Whattt did you dooo?" I slurred. He smiled at me sadly, and then the world went black.

Waking up

When I awoke I felt like I was floating, drifting in a calm sea. "Urgh" I let out a lady like grunt as I heard my alarmclock go off in the distance. "Mum! Please turn it off!" I yelled out in the direction of the door, hoping my mother would take pity on me and turn off the screeching siren.

When there was no answer I cautiously opened one eye and found that I was not infact in my room and the spreeching siren was not my alarmclock but a rather old fashioned phone.
