I got the idea for my little story from the post-apocalyptic Game "The Parallax".

But it is not affiliated to it.

I will just write what happens to Kiara like I guess it.

The DM's on Twitter will always be open! :)

Just ask if you have a question.

The pics I use here will be all from pixabay, if I don't write somethings else.

A new way of story writing!

At least to me^^

Each paragraph marks a time or location change.

Prolog

My name is Kiara Stedson.

I am 21 years old.

Approxly two months ago an apocalyptic fever came over us.

I'm not sure, but I believe it was transmitted by mosquitoes.

A kind of mutant malaria virus maybe.

We could not learn much more.

It spread quickly.

The people locked themselves in their houses and soon they died, like the flies. ... Or the mosquitoes.

In any case, I have been wandering around here since then. Try to find food and clean water to survive somehow.

The question is: why?

I am writing everything in this notebook that I have found.

Like a diary.

Or a short report. If someone should find it.

So they know how life is right now. ...

If anyone ever read it...

Day 1

Today was a long day. I was out to search food but I found just this undead guy.

I guess he liked me cuz he tried to follow me everywhere.

Sometimes he hit a wall while following me. It seemed he followed me through a sort of locating device that didn't recognize obstacles.

For some reason it was funny to watch this. On the other hand I never wanted to wait too long to see if he would free himself again.

I had to hurry, so that he would not suddenly stand in front of me and would claim body-tightness.

I have been able to find some canned food in a neighboring house. Tomorrow I will go to the supermarket a few streets and try my luck there.

Now I'm back in my shelter. I had lost my new friend somewhere in the stairwell of the other house. A bit of melancholy comes over me.

There comes the time when you've already read all the books in your shelter or you aren't interested in them because they aren't your genre.

So look outside the window and watch the zombies which are at least as bored as you.

A little hunt would at least make them happy.

It is dark again. Nothing to hear outside.

This now can be good or bad.

But...I don't see a need to check this out.

No Lady's Night today~

The day is over.

There is nothing I could do now anymore.

I must save petroleum and keep it for difficult times. I'm going to sleep now, G8.

Day 2

Good morning world!

Oh...yeah I forgot.

But somehow I feel better since I have this notebook to write my thoughts and 'adventures' down in.

Let's think about our todays adventures!

What will we do today?

Ah yeah I know!

We wanted to check out the supermarket for some food.

But first we should check out if we have a free way to go there.

Let's check the street from the window.

Okay seems to be cool down there.

Okay, go!

Hopefully the stairwell will be free as well.

I'll take a few things and then go.

A flashlight, a pocket knife, a piece of wire.

Hey. I am back again!

You won't believe it but in the stairwell I met my zombie friend again!

I don't know how he could return again.

He was on my floor, but luckily at the other end. So I could run down quickly. He was not so happy about that. I heard an annoyed grunt.

To the supermarket I made good progress.

Seemingly, most zombies were still asleep.

The streets were quite empty.

Just in front of the supermarket was already a friendly employee waiting for me and greeted me with a happy gurgle.

The gurgling could also have been due to her open throat, yes.

She was pitiful. I ran past her to the back entrance and slammed the door in her face. Now I look around. I urgently need something to eat!

I would be happy if I could find some chocolate and cola but I shouldn't screw my wishes up too high.

Because I went through the back entrance into the supermarket, I was directly fortunately in the storage room.

Slowly I let the flashlight wander through the room.

So, either, they like playing hide and seek and jump out of their hiding places as soon as I walk alongside them or there are no zombies nearby.

Softly, I took a few steps forward, and then that nasty smell reached me.

Here definitely was something rotted. Probably the cooling system had already failed weeks ago.

Or one of the employees had moved back here and died.

I hoped for the first possibility.

I sneaked through the room to the door that would lead to the store.

I carefully opened the door and peered out. Aha. Great. There were, of course, some of those mindless critters. It just had to be Happy Hour or something.

With a sigh I closed the door again. Softly. Carefully not to make a sound. Alright. So I would have to search here now. But before I should barricade the door to avoid unexpected visitors. First I tried something. I pulled at the door. Lucky me. Th door was automatically closed. Something like 'Entry only for employees'.

I deeply breathed out and started my search through the cartons.

Let's now find something yummy!

Heeeeeey !!

Oh wow!

It is already over seven hours ago since I made the last entry here.

Well I found some food to eat. Canned goods but it is better than nothing.

I also found some water bottles.

I'm a happy girl today!

My backpack is full of food and water, as much as I could put in it.

But...after I ate some of the things and drunk, I slept in it seems...

I just woke up now. And I don't wanna risk to look outside.

First: There is still this young zombie employee girl waiting for me.

And second: I don't want to run down the street by night.

And I suppose it is darkest night out there.

This means in the end: I will have to stay here tonight and leave in the morning.

Or afternoon. So I can still use all the food and water around me.

Unforeseen incidents.

It is just fantastic!

The next time I need a bigger bag to put in all the goodies and supplies!

I just wonder why here is still so much of this stuff...

Did I enter the storage of someone else?

But...no...I...don't hope it.

Well I will go sleep now again a little bit.

Also sleep is rare nowadays.

I will see you tomorrow!

G8!

Day 3

Today nothing much happened.

I was locked in the supermarket because before it there were alot of zombies.

I don't know where they did come from. And why now. But I take it as it is.

I don't have a big need for an escape.

I have alot of food and water here.

Only thing is that I don't know if they could be able to enter the storage room somehow.

Are they?

I'm not sure...

Well the day was boring. I believe I now know every single word on every canned food, cookie pack, water bottle, instant noodle pack, and any other word in that room.

Anyway, it is better as being outside and get in danger.

I'm sure I would be a culinary delicacy for those out there.

What a burden is this day?

No. My whole life now!

Outside it is quiet.

I could now quickly slip out the door and try to get home.

But I guess that the cleaning command is already at the door and wants to clean up...

I'll wait until tomorrow. When it is bright again.

And then I will go back!

....

Until then I will still have some treats here.

Good night!
