Have you ever felt like you weren't wanted? Like the entire world was against you? Chrissy always felt like that. Always thinking that there was nobody out there to help her.
She walked to school alone. Ate lunch in the library. Never talked to anyone. Always getting teased for her clothes and glasses. Then one day it all changed because of one person.

"Class, this is Ryan. He will be joining our school for the rest of the year."
Chrissy's teacher had just spoken up, getting her attention. Till then she had been zoned staring off into a corner. Silently she hoped that her teacher wouldn't put him next to her.
Her wishes were not met because the next thing she knew her teacher was saying, "Go ahead and have a seat by Chrissy. Will you please raise your hand so Ryan can see where to sit, Chrissy?"
Un happily she raised her hand. This was one thing she tried to avoid. Drawing attention to her self. The way she looked did enough for that. But now she had all eyes on her.
Ryan looked up at her and instantly scowled. Chrissy wasn't sure what she did but that look sent shock waves through her. Silently walking to the seat she met his eyes. The look on his face was one that said he didn't like this arrangement.
The minute he sat down Chrissy put her head down to her book. Today's lesson was a review on fractions. Since he didn't have a book Chrissy asked timidly, "Do you want to share books? Or, do you want to ask the teacher for your own?"
He shocked her when he said, "That'll be fine. Thanks." Guessing he just saw someone he didn't like Chrissy calmed down. But the entire time he sat there copying down problems, she kept looking at him.
When she decided he wasn't going to push her out of her chair she finally focused completely on the work she was doing. But before she had even finished one she heard a voice in her ear.
Looking up she expected to see Ryan wanting to ask a question. Instead he was doing work. She looked to the other side of her and saw Amanda. She was one of the school's biggest snots. Also the daughter of the principal, so she could get away with pretty much anything.
"What do you want?" Chrissy asked quietly.
"What'd you get for number three? I can't figure it out?"
"If all you wanted was to copy forget it."
The rest of the class went without incident. When the final bell rang Chrissy got up and headed for her locker. On her way there something her in the head. Turning around she saw some football players laughing.
"Oh yeah. Real mature guys. Seriously. Paper planes was middle school. Find something else to do."
She was always saying those words. They couldn't get the fact that all she wanted was to go home and scream and hit something. Preferably their faces. She went through torment here, then more at home. Instead she held it in and kept quiet most of the time.
Walking the rest of the way to her locker she felt something else hit her. This time though it kept hitting her. Turning around she saw that one of them had come up behind her.
"Go away Tom!" Practically running to her locker she saw Ryan. Deciding he might help her she ran to him.
"Hey Chris. What's up?"
"Just get him to leave me alone. Please?" She looked at him with pleading eyes. He nodded and turned around. She hadn't realized he was so tall. Although he might be able to out run Tom, a fist fight might end badly on Ryan's end.
"Hey, dude. Just let me talk to the girl. I wasn't going to do any thing." Chris hoped that Ryan would just tell him to leave.
"She has a name idiot. And it's Chris. Oh one other thing. Chris doesen't want to talk to you. So run along to your paper air plane throwing hoodlums and all will be the same as it was before you became such a jerk."
This caught Tom by surprise. But not wanting to get into trouble he walked away. Turning around Ryan saw that Chris had taken off towards the doors.
Rushing to catch up with her he realized that he needed to talk to her anyways. He hadn't heard the assignment in math and needed to get it.
"Hey Chris! Wait up will ya?"
He hurried up next to her and saw tears running down her eyes. Thinking he may have done something he grabbed her gently by the wrist and pulled her to a corner.
"Chris, did I do something? I mean it's only my first day here but I have a knack for causing trouble."
Seeing her shake her head no he calmed down.
"Come with me. I know a place where we can talk."
He grabbed her hand gently and took her to a heavily over grown garden in the park. Leading her down a trail, she suddenly stopped. He turned around to see why she had stopped. Then he realized she was probably scared.
"Chris I'm not going to do anything. If you want we can go out there with the other people."
"No. It's fine. I've just never spent so much time with someone who didn't hate me, or want me to do something."
He nodded and continued walking. She fell into step next to him. Once they reached a little pond and a bench they sat down. Chris started talking and couldn't stop.
"I've always been teased at school. My family isn't exactly poor but we're short on cash so I'm always getting holey patchy hand-me-downs. Not only that but I'm always watching my younger siblings. So when I get to school I'm exhausted.
"Plus my parents expect me to live up to my older siblings expectations. Which is very difficult considering they're all grown up and moved out except for my brother. He reminds me of you actually. But, he ran away several years ago. He was my twin. Somebody that I could always spill my heart to.
"Any ways. Thanks for earlier today. Those guys are always bugging me. One time they actually tripped me, stole my glasses, and highjacked my bike. In fact-" She was cut off by him laughing. She was confused but just waited a minute. When he was done she asked, "Why were you laughing?"
He was silent for a minute then told her why he was laughing. "I just had an image of some tough jocks on a bycycle riding down the road. That was probably an interesting conversation with the principal."
When he was finished she started laughing. After a couple of seconds she stopped. Looking up she saw a look of similarity on Ryan's face. Similarity to her brother.
"Hey Chris, I have something to tell you. And you may hate me for it, but, it's better now then never. It's me. Your brother."
Chris sat there for a minute then started crying again. Ryan sat down next to her and held her for a couple of minutes.
"I'm so sorry Chris. If I had known your life would be this bad I never would have left. Now, I just want to tell you something right now. No matter what those guys say. You're my sister. And you'll always be important and special to me."
As if to prove his point his phone went off in his pocket. The ringtone on it sung out "Pretty, pretty please don't you ever, ever feel like you're less then, less then perfect. Pretty, pretty please if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing. You are perfect to me."
