You have ventured a big ordeal with big expectation, big hope, only to be defeated. You did everything you could at your best, but finally accepted the defeat. You learned valuable lessons and gained wisdom, but you ran out of everything and lost the drive. You long for the peace you had at home.
As the Prodigal Son parable in the Bible is a study about the father, there is no record on why rationally the prodigal decided to leave, what the actual goal, and what he reasonably did out there. This song attempts to fill the gap from the prodigal’s point of view.
---------
Bored of the life in the house of gold
She left
brought a pot of gold
Let everyone down
Gone were the oak tree she had known from a child
Along with the dream of a life
She travelled the wide-open road
To a life of freedom
Where friends are easy to find
Where lovers are easy to get
Where dreams are reality
But soon, she was is a catch 22
She couldn’t find a way to grow her depleting gold
She ventured everything all that she had
She climbed every mountain
to reach the star
But the star got distanced
But things went south, destroyed
She cried as her lovers left
She wept as her friends left
As when she lost all her gold
She had nothing, nothing at all
Am I wrong to believe in the house of gold?
That lies in the long distance
Where everybody cares
Where father is always available
For her
Blurring blubber
Rumble
Lays long ahead of me an open road
These weary eyes travelling all the night
Blurring blubber ……….. rumble
Feeling despair to get back home
The star was in my reach… but got… distanced
This drowning soul been chasing all out life
Build up boost up ……… high up
Pumped up but then …..knocked down again
I guess this ain’t
What you want… me to do
I guess this ain’t
What you want… me to be
Please my Lord, Show me your way, Lift me up
Lift me up, Show me your way, Lift me up
I climbed soaring mountains….to prove…..the world
I ventured everything all….all….I have
But things went wrong……destroyed
I have nothing ……..nothing at all
Wisdom under the skin, packed for the future
They said things didn’t kill you, will make you stronger
But now I want nothing, just get me back home
just get me back home
to paradise
I guess this ain’t
What you want… me to do
I guess this ain’t
What you want… me to be
Please my Lord, Show me your way, Lift me up
Lift me up, Show me your way, Lift me up
