My body shifted to the left as dread soaked
my arms in the form of sweat, pouring over my brow
revealing quiet shutters of sleep calling me back to
my rest. Voices crept into my ears draining my
reality of all that wished for my attention, hoping
for my slumber to remain at bay, again I lapsed back
into my nightmare. Quivering I grappled at my left
hand wishing for its absence, damning it for its
sacrifice and slaughter. All around blood soaked to
my skin like a fly on paper. Why? How could I have
done this? My mind searched for its answers,
wondering what evil had spoken here. Immediately I
remembered my accomplice’s presence. Where had he
gone, I longed for his companionship sealing my
paranoia in an infinite day of unrest. My forfeit
could not fall into unwilling hands, I must escape,
and I have to recover the symbol given to my brother
my harbor of truth as to the crimes we had committed.
He abandons me here to kill, to murder for his own
gain. I then saw in the corner of the room pressed
against the kitchens hardwood, his eyes red with fire
of my own judgment. In his clutches lay the key. The
one and only to my escape, I wondered for its
recovery as his words fell on my ears as honey. I
asked his name though I knew, he must tell me. His
mouth opened causing absolute revelation. “My
friend”, I felt my lips whisper as my hand drew from
my body. He stood and spoke, sending me from my
slumber. I shook my hair out wishing myself from my
dreams grasp. Standing I realized my demons identity
lay inside, wishing for its final release. My right
hand tightened into a ball as I worked its muscle
yearning to rid myself of the anarchy I held in my
grasp.
