CORA POV:

Space and time mislay its continuity. Where was I and what had led me here? What’s this place? How?

These questions befuddled my ready daunted mind as I tried to make sense of this inscrutable mystery.

I was standing in the middle of the gloaming forest, the darkest I had ever seen in my life.

Putrefying trees perforated on either side of the dark and stony path, I was standing, their emaciated black branches reaching towards the sky like the fingers of a witch. Their trunks were hunkered and wicked as if they had lost the will to carry their freight.

I looked around only to see a sea of trees, suddenly a strong wind blew past me, making me shutter. Gust of whistling wind penetrated through the measly protection of my clothes, straight to my chest, freezing my soul.

Out of nowhere, a clap of thunder rolled and soon it started pouring cats and dogs. I shrieked and looked around for shelter but there were only trees and trees. Not a single soul was present in this haunted wilderness.

The passive and daunting forest has the appeal of a forgotten land, which has been lost in time. Looks like this forest was lagged in a capsule, untouched by anything and everything.

Ossified, I felt a sudden urge to wander forward, it was as if some instinct within me was urging my legs to walk.

What is this place? How did I end up here?

Darkness is the only thing, I can see.

I hesitantly moved forth, trying to figure out this place. Everything was so dark and dangerous here. It’s like these trees wield a mystery.

By now, my clothes were soaked due to the rain. I desperately want to leave this place but I can’t.

I was running like a madwoman, desperately trying to find an escape from this place. It gives me chills but not in a good way.

As I was moving forward, I came across this small clearing. This place was just like the whole forest.

There I saw a dark silhouette of someone. Due to the harsh slaps of raindrops on my eyes, I can’t see properly.

I rubbed my eyes and looked, to see a dark silhouette.

“Hello,”! I hesitantly asked but got no answer.

I gulped and asked again but no answer.

Now, I was scared to my bones but I have to talk to him because he was the only creature I had seen in this scary place.

I took 3 deep breaths and take a hesitant step towards him.

When I was an arm's length from him, I called him again but silence is all I got.

I was debating what to do, just then he turned around and my whole world stopped.

No Way!

“He can’t be,” he was the last person I was expecting.

There stood my mate, looking right at me.

Silent tears flow from my eyes, staring at my mate.

This is the first time, seeing him, after the rejection.

Looking I can see his beautiful orbs, perfectly sculpted face. There was a scar on his right side. It starts from his brow to his mid cheek. There was a strange glint in his eyes, that I can’t put my finger on.

After what felt like, I heard a buzzing sound. Turning in that direction, only to see something unbelievable.

The dark and wild forest has been revamped into a beautiful forest.

Beautiful tall trees, different colors, and types of flowers. Squirrels chattering, butterflies flying from one flower to another.

Birds singing, insects humming everything was so enchanting. I was so in shock, to say anything.

I looked at my mate, he was still looking at me without blinking. We both weren’t saying anything.

Gosh! This is the most awkward moment.

Just as I opened my mouth to talk to him and ask him his reason for rejection, he pointed towards his neck.

Knitting my brows, I looked up to see blood oozing out of his mouth and neck. Due to so much blood, I can’t say from where it’s coming.

“Oh my God,” I quickly rush to him, only for him to vanish into thin air.

I looked around for him, but he was nowhere and now the beautiful forest has once again changed into that haunted forest.

A scream left my mouth when I felt some strong force pulling me from the back. I tried resisting it but the pull was much stronger than me.

Soon, the forest becomes foggy and I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore.

                            ----------------------

NO!

Cora woke up with, her body soaked in sweat. Her heartbeat was going haywire. She took large gulps of oxygen, and placed her hand on her chest, to calm herself but nothing was working.
