She barks out a laugh. “Now, I find that hard to believe, but I appreciate the compliment.”
“Believe me, last night was one for the books. It’s why I’m kind of reluctant to let you go. I’m afraid you’ve ruined me for all women.”
She laughs again. “As much as I would like to say the same about you, I think your ego is big enough without me complimenting you further. But I will say, you were exactly what I needed before my life turns crazy again.”
“You know, you never elaborated on what you meant by that last night,” I point out, realizing she didn’t explain herself.
“Nothing really to elaborate on. A successful guy like you doesn’t want to hear about my life.”
“What if I do?”
She rolls her eyes. “Something tells me you’re not the deep-talking kind, and that’s okay. I’m not looking for a boyfriend to share my woes with.”
“You were just looking for some fun.”
She shakes her head. “I wasn’t even looking. You were an unexpected surprise I hadn’t realized I needed until I met you. So, thank you. I won’t forget about last night for a long time.”
“Because I’ve ruined you for all other guys, right?” I ask with a cheeky grin.
“If that’s what your ego wants to hear, then yes, I am ruined for all guys who’ll come after you.”
I breathe out a laugh. “I knew it.”
Smiling, she leans across and presses a final kiss to my lips. It’s long and sensual, and for some unforeseen reason, I don’t want her to stop. Unfortunately, she does, and she pulls away. I’m left confused by the heavy sensation that sits like a boulder on my chest.
“I’ll see you around, Blake,” she tells me as she stands to her feet.
“Let me walk you to the door,” I say as I begin to get out of bed.
She settles her hand against my shoulder, stopping me from moving any further. “It’s okay. I can show myself out. You need the rest after last night.”
I smirk as I watch her walk to my door.
Turning round briefly, she throws me a final smile. “Bye.”
“Bye, gorgeous.” I salute before falling back to the bed with a big-ass grin as she exits my apartment.
It’s Monday morning, and it’s been less than forty-eight hours since Ever left my apartment, yet I still can’t get her off my mind. I’ve always been a one-night stand kind of man. We have a great time with good sex, but the minute I let the woman out of my apartment, I never think about her again.
Until Ever.
Ever is the unexpected exception, but for some unknown reason, I can’t put my finger on why. At least, that’s what I say to myself. I know why I can’t stop thinking about her. She was the best sex of my life. Hell, I felt like I was a virgin all over again. It’d never been so intense before, and without sounding like a total girl right now, it was pretty goddamn magical. I can’t remember the last time I came so much in one night. I actually think I broke some kind of record with her. But damn, she was so hot, funny, and sassy. If I were into the whole relationship thing, she’d be the girl of my dreams.
I’ve never had the urge to be with a woman a second time, but with Ever…I desperately need another taste. Damn, why did we have to agree that it would only be a one-time thing? I finally found a woman who’s just like me, and I put her in the same category as all my conquests. The category of only sleeping with them once.
Except Ever is not like any other woman. She’s in a league of her own.
I’m kicking myself for not getting her number. Maybe I could have persuaded her for another night of hot-ass sex. At least I know where she works. If by the end of the week, I still haven’t squashed my craving of her, then I’ll swing by for a few drinks. I have a feeling I’m going to need them after my first week as junior partner.
And as much as I would like to dwell on my obsession over Ever—God, even saying her name in my head turns me on—I have a busy day ahead of me, and the last thing I need is to be late on the first day of my big promotion.
So, with a rock-hard dick and the restraint of a motherfucking saint, I take a shower without jacking off. I shower long enough to get my cock to at least half-mast before drying myself off, fixing my hair, and changing into a crisp, brand-new gray suit. Once loaded with my wallet, keys, and phone, I’m out of my apartment by seven.
The instant I get inside my Porsche, I don’t hesitate to pull down the top, letting the morning sun beat down on me. I mean, what’s the point of having a convertible if I’m not going to use it? Plus, it’s hot as ass today, and the summer temperature just keeps on rising.
Stopping off at my favorite drive-through Starbucks, I grab coffee for the three most important people—myself, my boss, and my wonderful assistant, who I wouldn’t be able to survive without. By the time seven thirty strikes, I’m walking through the office with the coffees in hand, wearing a huge smile on my face because it’s Monday and I’m a junior motherfucking partner.
Approaching my assistant’s desk, I see she’s already busy, typing away at her laptop. As I get closer, she tips her head in my direction, her fingers still working their magic on the keyboard without her looking at the screen. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Kimberley—aka Kiki—is my assistant and has been for two years now. She’s just so fucking magical. I’m not kidding. She makes magic happen out of thin air.
“Please tell me that’s a skinny mocha latte with hazelnut.”
“How stupid would I
