sense she wants to say more, but with the awkwardness radiating from her, thanks to this fucked up chance meeting, she seems to be rendered speechless. The complete opposite from this past weekend…

God, she never shut up…with her intoxicating moans as I fucked her senselessly.

My dick jolts slightly at the memory before my mind refocuses on the now.

Crap. I shouldn’t be allowed to think of Edwin’s daughter like that. Hell, I shouldn’t even know what she looks like naked, let alone know what her pussy feels like.

Steeling my back, I push my hands into the pockets of my trousers. “Let me show you to Human Resources,” I say as polite as possible.

I walk ahead of her, and we both exit Edwin’s office as he picks up the phone. I lead Reagan toward Human Resources. Only we don’t make it there. I make a detour down a deserted corridor and pull her into a file room, where I know we won’t be disturbed. Closing the door behind us, I glare at her, finally able to stop with the pretense of not knowing her.

“Reagan, huh?”

“Blake, I can explain,” she sighs.

“Explain to me that you lied to me about your name. Do you always use fake names when it comes to one-night stands, or did you already know I worked for your father and just lied to me to get me into bed?”

“Firstly, I didn’t lie. Secondly, up until just a few minutes ago, I had no idea you worked for my father. If you couldn’t already tell, it was a shock for me too.”

“So, you’re not really called Reagan?” I smart off, really intrigued as to how she’s going to get out of this.

Crossing her arms over her chest, she takes a step toward me. “My first name is Reagan. Everly is my middle name. I prefer to go by my middle name…but my dad always insists on calling me Reagan even though he knows I hate it.”

As I let that sink in for a moment, I walk in a full circle. Once I have my thoughts intact, I face her again. “This is a fucking nightmare. How could you not tell me who your father was?”

She cocks her head to the side, her eyes narrowing in on me. “Oh, sorry,” she spits out mockingly. “I was a bit too occupied with riding your dick to think of bringing up my family tree. You also didn’t tell me where you worked. Hell, you didn’t even tell me you were a lawyer.”

She does have a point. But at the time, it didn’t matter. Our lives outside of that moment wasn’t even in the equation. It was just about me, her, and epic sex.

Now, it’s well and truly come to bite me in the ass.

There is definitely a first for everything.

How the hell can this be happening?

“I don’t even understand why you’re working at Happy Hours anyway. You’re the fucking boss’s daughter. You can’t be that desperate for money.”

I immediately regret my words, but I don’t take them back. I’m too angry right now.

Ever glares at me. “Well, not all daughters sponge off their rich daddies. I’m actually an independent woman who can fend for herself. Plus, when it’s an unpaid internship, how else do you think I pay rent? Or…I don’t know…eat?!”

I let out a frustrated breath. “Let’s talk about the real issue here. We both fucked up…but you should have at least told me how old you were. I am ten years older than you. A full fucking decade older. That isn’t okay, especially when that fresh-out-of-college twenty-two-year-old graduate is my boss’s daughter!” I hiss out, my breathing accelerated with how much I am freaking out right now.

Out of all the women to sleep with, why did this one have to be Edwin’s daughter—his little girl, he often calls her? If he knew I’d slept with his own flesh and blood, I guarantee I’d be a dead man right about now.

Jesus Christ.

“I don’t see why the age difference matters. We’re in the twenty-first century.”

“The reason why it matters is because when I graduated college, you were still in middle school. You probably hadn’t even hit puberty at that point.”

Tilting her head to the side and resting her hand on her hip, she says, “Well, I’m a twenty-two-year-old woman who you had no problem defiling on Friday night…oh, and the majority of the day on Saturday. You certainly had no issues with my well-developed, post-puberty body. In fact, I’d say you had a hell of a lot of fun with this body.” She waves her hand in front of her body.

The snarky attitude I loved on Friday is something I now hate.

Pain radiates up my jaw from how hard I’m grinding my teeth right now.

“You don’t have to tell me what happened between us. I have the memory of every single moment. I won’t go as far as saying it was a mistake, but what happened last weekend cannot happen again. I’ve worked too hard to get to where I am, so nothing can ever happen between us again. Do you understand?” I can’t keep the condescension from seeping out, but the anxiety of this goddamn moment is screwing up my psyche. Usually, I’m cool as a cucumber.

She takes a step closer to me and peers up at me with a glare that tells me she’s about to rip me a new one.

“I know that, as of five minutes ago, you’re my boss for the next two months, but I won’t allow you to talk to me like I’m a five-year-old. I might not have gone to law school yet, but I know my worth, and I won’t let anyone, including you or my father, belittle me in any way.”

Suddenly feeling stifled, I take two large steps back until I bump into a filing cabinet.

“Look,” I begin, scrubbing a hand down my clean-shaven face, “I’m sorry. I’m just freaking out, and let me tell you, it’s very rare that I get anxious over
