Why me?
“What the fuck? Why are you with Willow?” he snarls, causing me to flinch at the venom in his voice.
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because I missed my friend and come to find out she’s knocked up with your kids, I should say,” Quinn says sarcastically.
“Kids?” he sneers.
“Yes, plural. She’s carrying triplets and looking near ready to pop any second. Why would you do this to her? What did Willow, who I might add would never hurt a fly, do to you, you big ape ass face?” And there goes the pain again.
Nothing is said through the line, or at least I don’t hear anything as my vision becomes spotty.
“Quinn,” I call my friend’s name, but when she looks at me, I don’t get to say anything else as my world goes dark. The last thing that I hear is Quinn screaming my name.
Chapter Five
Malice
Fuck.
What the hell was I thinking?
Racing through the clubhouse, Gunner and several others rushing behind me after hearing Quinn scream Willow’s name. I can’t help but let my head think of all the different scenarios.
Instead of heading for my bike, I grab the truck I’d bought for days when we had bad weather. I don’t know why, except for maybe the thought of possibly bringing Willow home.
Gunner hops in the seat next to me as I start the engine and gun the gas pedal to the floor, racing through the gates just as they open enough for me to fit through.
“Call Wesley Swann and find out what the fuck is going on? He should be there with his granddaughter,” I snarl, my knuckles white from the grip I have on the steering wheel.
Gunner does as I ask. He speaks to the old man for a moment then hangs up. “He left to go deal with something that needed his attention. The men at the compound say nothing’s happened. She’s been doing nothing lately except resting as per doctor’s orders.”
“Fuck. She’s pregnant with triplets. Why didn’t she reach out to tell me this shit?” I growl.
“Maybe because you walked away from her,” Gunner snaps. “Told you leaving her wasn’t a good idea.”
“I know, but you know why I fuckin’ did it. Shit.”
Gunner’s phone lights up before he can say anything else to me. “What’s going on, Quinn?” he demands.
“You sure?”
“Yeah, we’re already on the way.”
“No, you fuckin’ aren’t, woman.”
“This is between the two of them.” I’m sure the woman is pissed with the fact none of us told her or Avery about Willow being pregnant. I didn’t need them going off and possibly being overheard talking about it. Knowing them, they would have been. It’s why I’m pissed as hell at Quinn for going to see Willow without telling us. Who knows who could have followed her there.
“Right, see you in a bit,” Gunner growls, and hangs up.
“One of the guys at the compound is taking Willow to the hospital, it seems she blacked out and her water broke,” he announces.
“Fuck,” I snarl, slamming a hand on the steering wheel and pushing the gas pedal to the floor, not caring if a cop catches me speeding.
“She’ll be good, VP,” Gunner says reassuringly.
“Yeah, we’ll see when we get there,” I mutter.
“You gonna make things right?” he asks. “Fix what you two are supposed to have.”
Am I?
Fuck yeah, I am.
I fucked up months ago by walking away from Willow. Leaving her, thinking it was the best way to protect both her and the our kid. Now I’m heading in her direction and soon, I’ll be with her and meeting my kids.
Shit, I still can’t believe we’re having triplets.
I’m bringing them home with me. Each and every one of them. Those kids are mine and so is Willow. I’ll make sure she understands it and do what I have to do to fix what I fucked up. But first, I’ve gotta get to her.
Pulling up to the hospital, I throw the truck into park and hop out at the entrance.
“I’ll go park the truck and head right up in a second,” Gunner states, but I’m not listening to him. The entire way here, I’ve thought of nothing else but getting to Willow. To tell her I’m fuckin’ sorry for the way we left things. I shouldn’t have treated her the way I did.
Quinn’s right. Willow isn’t the type of woman who would hurt a fly on the wall, let alone me. She doesn’t have it in her to be malicious or malevolent toward anyone. Even I know she’s got this spirit around her that makes her seem to connect with nature more than anyone I’ve ever met.
Through the past months on end, it’s felt like a piece of me was missing. I’d talk with Wesley pretty much weekly to be informed about what was going on with Willow.
Why didn’t he tell me about her carrying triplets?
Fuck me, triplets.
Willow can’t handle all that on her own and I won’t let her. I know I fucked up royally where she’s concerned. I’ll do what it takes to get her to forgive me, but I’ll be doing this as I help her with our kids.
Making my way up to the floor Quinn texted to Gunner. I find her sitting in the waiting room. “They say anything?” I demand, stepping toward her.
“No, but they might tell you. I told them you were her fiancé and that you were on the way,” she says, smirking evilly.
At least she went ahead and did me a favor by telling them something that will get me in the doors to find out about her and the babies.
Nodding, I turn to the nurses’ station. The two younger women who were standing behind the desk give me the look I get from a lot of women.
“Can we help you, sir?” one of them asks sweetly.
“Yeah, can you tell me what room my fiancée, Willow Swann, is in?” I demand, ignoring the
