Willow agreed to come home with me, but she’d wanted to spend the first few weeks after having the triplets at her grandpa’s farm where she grew up. During this time, I got to know my woman for the free spirit she really is. Not in the way of a woman who has to live a nomad lifestyle or anything like that. No the other day when it’d had started to rain while sitting on the porch, she’d walked off the porch and started twirling in the middle of the yard with her head raised to the sky.
Wesley had been sitting with us and told me this was her way of connecting with her dad. To her, she felt the rain was her father visiting her in some way. Weird as shit, but I’ve seen some strange shit happen in my life. The old man explained to me that his mother was a psychic and could read emotions as well as see forward. Said the next woman to be born to the family would be able to sense those who are no longer with us.
This explains why Willow is the way she is. The easy nature she carries within her and how she’s able to allow me into her life as easily as she did. Though she’s not let me get any closer than us talking or working together taking care of the triplets. To say three are hard to handle at one time is an understatement. Due to the overwhelming feelings she went through when she found she couldn’t breastfeed, I knew it was something I needed to help her with. Quinn explained to me this was a bonding experience between mom and baby that is supposed to be beautiful. She also told me about how I should help Willow feel that bond in other ways, so I did. Each night when the three of them wake up ready for a bottle, I’m there. I help her change them and then go make the three bottles.
I learned the first night in the hospital how to help Willow feel that connection. I had gently climbed into the bed next to her while she held one baby in each arm. I held the other. She’d cradled them in the crook of her arm and held a bottle in each hand while I carefully held the other in a similar position. Only I used my free hand to hold the bottle.
It’s been an experience I’d not done before and a sense of pride fills me each time I do this alongside her.
Now we’re getting ready to head home to the clubhouse. Willow didn’t mind us living at the clubhouse like I thought she might. She worried mostly about the babies waking others up. I’d explained to her that it wasn’t something to worry about. The brothers wouldn’t mind. These three kids are family, and they’d get over it.
It’s good I’d brought my truck because I wasn’t putting Willow in her car. To me, it’s nothing more than a death trap on wheels considering it was nothing more than a small little beetle. She wouldn’t have been able to put all three car seats in the back.
While we’d been in the hospital, I gave Gunner my card and had him take Quinn shopping to get all the shit we’d need for the kids. Willow had some of it already, like the cribs for them and the cradles that we could put next to the bed, but she’d gone and gotten everything else for us. So the back of my truck is now filled with all sorts of baby shit that we gotta get to the clubhouse and put together.
It’s gonna be interesting to say when we get there, considering a week ago, Hammer’s little boy Tate was born. Having not just one or two babies in the clubhouse but four. Our three to go with my Prez’s one.
“You ready for this?” Wesley asks as I close the tailgate.
Turning to him, I cross my arms. “Yeah, I’m ready.”
“Don’t fuck up again. I’m being nice because I know about your family and your reasons. You didn’t have to tell me why, for me to know. You were protecting them, which I appreciate. But now that you have them going with you, I find out you hurt my granddaughter, Hades himself won’t be able to find your body,” Wesley says sternly.
“You don’t gotta worry about me fuckin’ leaving her. If you know about my family, you know I’m not letting them get close to her. I’m sure by now they’ve found out and are looking to plot, but I intend to be one step ahead of them. They won’t get close to Willow or our kids,” I growl, making a mental note to check in with Cy after getting home about any updates on them.
“Good, they’re mid-level in the group of monsters and will answer to the ones that sit at the top.” I blink at this information. How much does this old man know? “Just keep an eye on them. They find out who Willow is, they might go to the man who intended to buy my granddaughter when her cunt of a mother and stepfather tried to sell her as a toddler.”
This is news I didn’t know.
“You’re just now telling me this shit?” I seethe.
“Wasn’t your business until now.” He shrugs.
Motherfucker.
I’ll have Cy look into her mother. See if he can find more on this shit. I don’t have time or want to think about this at the moment. I need to get my woman and kids, load them up in the truck, and head home where they’ve belonged with me this whole time.
Without letting Wesley goad me further with remarks like the last one, I head into the house to find Willow crouched down in front of the car seats on the floor.
Fuck.
Staring at her, I take in her beauty.
