the gloves for 18 silver. His older armor only sold for 5 silver combined. With a wave, he left the shop and went to the Jewelcrafter next.

This one he’d already visited for the staff quest but hadn’t bothered with introductions yet. The master greeted him as he entered, and Atlas showed him the completed staff. He oohed and awed over it for an appropriate amount of time before he said something that caught Atlas off guard.

“Already done some fighting with the new staff, I see.”

“Huh? I think I fought one animal. That’s about it.”

“Surely the staff didn’t gain that much experience in one fight?” The master asked him in confusion.

“Experience? It didn’t give me any when I killed the creature.”

“Then how did you level this?”

Atlas stared at the man as though he’d gone crazy for a moment before looking at the stats on the staff.

Traits: A rare and elusive Living Weapon. This staff feels as though it has a mind of its own.

What in the world? How did it gain experience?

The thoughts swirled in his head as he contemplated the situation.

His mind reflected over his time in game. I didn’t complete any quests since I logged on. The only thing I’ve done was craft…

A thought struck him, and he looked at the logs to see what experience he’d gained since logging in for his crafting. The total showed 4,165. Hidden amongst his experience gains in crafting were the gains for the staff. It got 10% of his total crafting experience toward weapon experience. He’d glazed over it with the onslaught of experience notifications.

It was also nice that the Magical Power and Magical Defense both rose by 1 point. If he could continue to upgrade the weapon, it could prove invaluable in the long run.

“It appears the staff gains a percentage of my crafting experience,” he told the Jewelcrafter.

“Really? I’ve only heard of a few of those and all of them are usually tools of the trades, not combat weapons.”

“That’s what it tells me in the logs. It is a living weapon, so it would seem right that it feeds on creation and not destruction. I’ll have to monitor it. Can I see what new skills I can train?” Atlas asked as he handed him the introduction letter.

“Oh, you’re a Jewelcrafter as well? You could’ve given this to me last time.”

“Yeah but I was in a hurry and excited about the staff. Sorry.”

The master only nodded and waved toward him. The menu showed up and he looked at the Buy tab. Since he was currently at 18 Jewelcrafting, he had a decent number of options. He already knew the next tier was the mahogany items, so there wasn’t much surprise when all the ring and necklace enchantments were there.

He gave 5 silver for all ten of the patterns and then checked the rest of the man’s wares. He had no Mahogany Logs or wood available and Atlas had found none while out questing, so he just bid the man farewell and headed for The Lacquer Stop. He’d already trained everything up to level 20 in Woodworking here, so he wanted to check in and see if any new work orders came in.

An exhausted looking Joe greeted him as he walked into the shop.

“Man, am I glad you’re here. The work orders came in pretty heavy after you completed those last ones so quickly and I’ve been struggling to keep up but still can’t work at a fraction of your pace.”

“No worries. What can I help with?” Atlas asked as he walked in and surveyed the room.

Joe didn’t answer. Instead, he stood and waved Atlas to follow. The two walked to the back room and Atlas froze as he walked through the door. Multiple stacks of raw materials covered the entire warehouse in the back of the shop. Only the barest of space was open to navigate through the stacks.

As before, each of the sections was divided up by their specific materials and had a sign on them that labeled their order. A count of the stacks showed what he thought was five orders.

“This is a lot of work. I can see why you’re stressed out,” Atlas mused.

“Yeah. After that last set of orders you completed, we were hammered with this set of orders because of how fast we turned around the delivery. Everyone else takes up to a month to deliver on the smaller orders and we turned around multiple larger orders in a few days’ time.”

“Well, to be fair, that was the plan when I agreed to this arrangement with Raina and Penny. Why don’t you take a break while I get to work on these? Can you assign me these work orders?”

“I sure can. The ladies came by and gave me permission to assign them to you when needed. How many do you want?” he asked hesitantly.

“Just give me them all and I’ll get to work.”

Joe smiled and looked relieved. With a quick wave and a few taps in the air, boxes appeared in front of Atlas and he accepted them all.
