guessing surprises are back on the good list again.” Both of us roll around on the bed, and all of a sudden, the laughing and playing are starting to turn into so much more.

“I love your surprises,” I manage to get out in between the manic kissing.

“I love you.” His words I never get tired of hearing.

“I love you so much, for so many reasons, but mainly just for being you.” The intensity of our touching and kissing slows. With such meaningful words being spoken, we both want to let them soak in.

Just as we are about to reenact last night’s loving, I hear a little voice at the front door.

“Can we go inside, Daddy? I want to say hello.”

Kurt and I both stop mid-kiss and look at each other, smiling. How can you not when you hear Bessy’s sweetness this early in the morning?

“No, sweet cheeks, we can’t, they’re still asleep, like you and your brother should have been.” Ghost’s voice is not much more than a whisper, but in the early-morning stillness, it sounds like he’s yelling.

“Just put the basket here and the note under the door.”

“No, Daddy, the critters will eat the muffins. And that will make Asha sad. I don’t like her sad.”

Right then, my heart flutters at such a beautiful little girl who only sees the good in the world.

“What about Kurt, doesn’t it matter if he’s sad?” Ghost asks her.

By this stage, Kurt and I are up and quietly putting clothes on to go and see her.

“No, Kurt is big and strong like you, Daddy, you don’t cry.”

Placing my hand over my heart at overhearing this conversation, I almost feel like we are intruding on a private moment.

“I cried when you were born, Bessy, but they were happy tears. Just seeing you and those little cheeks made Mommy and me so happy.”

“That’s because I’m adorable.” She’s giggling as Kurt opens the door and sweeps her off her feet.

The giggles turn into a squeal as she gets so excited.

Kurt swings her around. “You might be adorable, but you will never be a quiet spy.”

Throwing her arms around his neck, she gives him a big kiss on the cheek. Looks like Kurt has already charmed another female in his life.

“Sorry, buddy, did we wake you?” All the adults laugh at Ghost’s statement as Bessy is already launching into a full conversation.

“Kurt, Asha, look what we brought you. I helped Mommy bake you some blueberry muffins and chop up the fruit. It’s in the basket, you know, like the little girl in the red cape that takes the food to her grandma. But Daddy said that Kurt was the wolf with his beard.” She rubs her hand on him like she’s trying to work out what it feels like.

Ghost is clean-shaven and his head bald, totally different to Kurt at the moment.

“Asha, do you want to play dolls? I have a doll house, but Eli won’t play with me because he’s too little.”

“Maybe after breakfast, Bessy, does that sound okay?” I ask, kissing her on the cheek. “But thank you for the beautiful basket, I’ll have to make sure Kurt doesn’t eat it all.”

Ghost gives her belly a little poke. “Bessy, I’m not sure we did a very good job of quietly delivering the basket like Mommy asked us to. Come here, we need to let Kurt and Asha get back to their morning and we can see them later.” The look on her face as Ghost takes her from Kurt’s arms is adorable, almost a pout at having to leave us.

“Promise you will come and play?” Her bottom lip juts out.

“Of course, we promise. I hear Kurt is the best at playing dolls,” I say. His face turns to me with a smirk that tells me I will pay for that later.

“Okay, bye. Let’s go, Daddy. I’m hungry,” she says, her hands on either side of his face making sure he is totally focused on her.

“You’re always hungry. I’m sure you have hollow legs.” They start to head back up the track. “As you were, you two,” he yells over his shoulder with a chuckle.

“Smartass,” Kurt mumbles under his breath from behind me, as I’m already moving back inside.

“Mmm, these smell delicious. I bet they taste just as good,” I say, placing the basket on the table.

“You know what also tastes good? And even Ghost said as we were…” His mouth is already nibbling at my ear, his hands sliding around my waist from behind me.

“You’re insatiable.” My insides are already heating up as he continues, ignoring me.

“And this is a problem because?” His hands slip my shorts and panties off.

“I never said there was an issue, just making an observation.” Before he has time to reply, I pull from his grasp and run and jump onto the bed, diving under the covers. Whipping my shirt off and throwing it at him, I hide my now fully naked body under the blanket.

“Game on, baby.” His clothes start flying around the room, and we’re both under the covers laughing and wrestling within seconds.

Sitting here on the chair outside the cabin in the fresh air, taking it all in with my laptop on my legs, I can’t help but worry about what was discussed in the main house. After our morning of sex, breakfast, then another round of sex, and the shower that was supposed to be for getting clean that resulted in another session of hot sex, we finally made it up to the house to see Bessy, much to her disgust that we had taken so long to come and play with her.

We have since come back to the cabin so I can do some writing, and Kurt is exploring the bush around the cabin, although not too far away because I can still hear his footsteps close by.

Kurt’s game with Bessy was short-lived, as he and Ghost went to work, and then when Cassie took Bessy for her home-schooling lesson in a separate
