slept in their recovery beds. If I couldn’t protect Violet, I was going to make damn sure I protected Oia, Venus, Cygna, and Sirius.

And Bree, even if she was just a computer.

I slouched down in a hexagonal chair and was asleep before my butt hit the seat.

—: Chapter 14 :—

I woke to the sound of high heels clacking in the corridor outside the recovery room. Currently, I was slouched in the long, cushioned lounger chair.

Captain Theia sat on the floor at my feet, back in her indoor uniform of golden thigh-high boots, gloves, headband and nothing else. She sat atop a golden silk mat with her legs crossed in the Lotus position. Her back was straight, and the position of her legs made her hips flare out with extra-feminine emphasis.

I had morning wood — or whatever time it was — because I’d been sleeping deeply. But my eyes instantly welded themselves onto Theia’s backside. Her long, dark hair dangled just above the dimples at the base of her spine where it met her pelvis. That and the smooth, tan skin of her ass were priceless. Her hips were demanding I grab them from behind and start thrusting.

Before I could indulge in the endpoint of that thought, a new woman squeezed inside past the Shock Knights guarding the door, her high heels clacking.

Call her Heels. She was yet another stunning babe in my Royal harem. One of my countless concubines. Everything about her was impossibly attractive, except for what I perceived as scheming deceit in her ice-blue eyes. Suddenly, she looked familiar, but my exhausted, foggy brain wasn’t offering up a name.

“Colonel Sadys, at your service, my king,” Heels said after bending into a formal bow.

In contrast to Captain Theia, who radiated loving warmth, Colonel Sadys projected a frigid severity.

Sadys’ coal-black hair, ice blue eyes, blood red lips, and pale alabaster skin left her looking inscrutable and aloof. She wore a tailored white officer’s uniform with a red neck collar and red cuffs. A deep V-cut from collar to navel revealed substantial breasts for a woman so slender. Her preternatural beauty bordered on vampiric.

“You,” I grunted as hateful recognition set in.

“My king?” Colonel Sadys chortled, taken aback.

“You ordered their beatings, didn’t you?”

“Beatings? I didn’t order any beatings,” she laughed guiltily.

“Don’t lie,” I growled. “I heard you say it the other night. You admitted it. You had my friends beaten. Or whipped. Or whatever you want to call it.”

“Friends?! What friends, my king?” Sadys was on the defensive.

“Them,” I said tipping my head toward the Bombshells in their beds.

“I would never,” Sadys said, shaking her head.

“Then who did?”

Sadys didn’t have an answer.

Without turning to face me, Captain Theia unfolded her long legs from her Lotus position and stood. She was taller than Sadys. Theia turned to me, her naked thigh-gap at eye level where I sat. Theia was so damn hot it hurt.

My eyes traveled up the perfection of her flat stomach, sliding past her slit of a navel, past her full breasts, taut nipples — it was chilly in the recovery room — her delicate collar bones, long neck, full lips, sculpted nose, and finally landing on her glowing green eyes.

Her kryptonite eyes.

She said, “My king? Would you like me to give you some privacy, or…?”

I wasn’t afraid of Colonel Sadys, but I knew having an audience would put more pressure on her while I grilled her.

“No, I’m good,” I grunted. “Colonel Sadys, who ordered my friends beaten if not you?”

Sadys cringed without answering.

“If you don’t tell me,” I seethed, “I’ll start asking around the outpost. I’m sure someone knows. If I have to, I’ll sit down every woman here and put the question to them point-blank until I get an answer. Who ordered my friends beaten?”

Sadys fluttered her eyes and frowned, “I was doing my duty, my king! They’re no more than whores! Exiles! Traitors to the crown! You said so yourself!”

“No I didn’t,” I chuckled angrily.

“You did! When you exiled them!”

“I never exiled them!” I snorted. “I just got here! And I brought them with me! How could I have possibly exiled them?!”

Sadys was about to argue, then paused in mid-gesture, her mouth open to speak. Suddenly, she relaxed. Closed her mouth. Considered her words. Then said, “Your predecessor ordered it, my king. I was just following existing orders.”

“Is that how it is?” I smirked. “Passing the buck already?”

“My king?” She probably didn’t know what a buck was. “Have orders changed?”

I was too angry at her to explain.

One of the Bombshells suddenly moaned painfully from her bed. They were sedated, but my argument with Sadys had clearly woken them.

“Outside,” I hissed at Sadys and shot to my feet.

—: Chapter 15 :—

I marched into the corridor where a dozen Shock Knights stood at attention. Captain Theia followed me. The other Shock Knights were off duty, given leave by Captain Theia after returning from our Terrorsaur outing. They had gone to the mess to eat or to bed or I don’t know what.

Colonel Sadys walked into the corridor, her heels clacking.

I wanted to shout at her to walk more quietly but that would be counter-productive. I growled quietly in her face, “What’s your job around here?! Do you do anything other than make excuses?!”

Sadys snapped to attention and her breasts bounced heavily inside her V-cut cleavage. “Colonel Sadys, at your service, my king! I command this outpost, by order of the king! Your wish is my command!”

“Are you sure? Because you’re acting like the only thing you command are your excuses!”

She stared straight ahead, arms stiff at her sides, back arched, chest thrust out, her eyes locked on eternity.

I waited for a reply. When I didn’t get one, I said, “Say something, Colonel. This is your last chance.” I wasn’t sure what came next, but if the previous king’s behavior was any indication, Sadys here might be expecting her own execution.

She said, “There is no excuse for my behavior, my king! I humbly beg your pardon and your mercy!
