"It's fucking good to see you." His hand went around her, and he pressed his palm against her lower back, keeping her in front of him.
She tried slowing the tremors he brought out in her. Remembering why she'd come, she said, "Johnny wanted me to come here to pick up a package. Do you know where it is?"
A few bikers pushed out the front of the clubhouse. As they passed her, they nodded.
She managed to hold it together until they were out of earshot. "I interrupted something. Didn't I?"
"No." He kissed her lips, solid and determined. "They know you belong with me."
Her lips curled under his, and she peppered him with more kisses. It was too soon to ask him what that meant. She knew nothing about the biker lifestyle.
"I'm glad you're here." She inhaled deeply, smiling up at him. "I was hoping to see you."
He smoothed back her hair. "I wish I had more time."
"Me, too." She sighed. "I'm on my lunch break and will have to get back to work soon."
He rubbed the front of him against her and tilted his head back. She loved how he wished they could be together. The same need pulsed through her every single day. It was always that way around him.
Catching sight of the bikers, standing by their motorcycles, she hugged him tightly to her. "I think they're waiting for you."
"They can wait."
She leaned back. "No, I won't keep you. I need to get the package and get back to Johnny."
It took everything in her to step away and put space between them. She would love nothing more than to spend the rest of the day in his arms.
But she had a job and needed the money for her family. She wouldn't jeopardize working at The Shack.
Never in a million years had she prepared herself for the all-consuming need that took hold of her when it came to Trip. He had her trying to fit him into her life, and the struggle was worth it.
"The package?" she repeated when Trip refused to let go of her hand and move too far away from him.
"There's no package." He pulled her back against him, cocooning her in his arms.
Her heartbeat accelerated. "What do you mean? Johnny—"
"I told him to send you over because I wanted to see you before I take off."
She tilted her head and gazed up at him. "There's no package?"
He shook his head. "No package."
A thrill rolled through her. She shot up onto her tiptoes and looped her arms around his neck, pulling him down. Kissing him long and passionately, she showed him how special he made her feel that he went out of his way to see her.
He filled her with joy. She laughed against his lips, squealing quietly.
"Thank you." She fell back on her heels and stepped away, holding on to his hand until the distance pulled him away. "If you ever want to see me again, you know where to find me."
She raised her brows, smiling. Flirtatious and free, she practically skipped backward, not wanting to leave him.
He tilted his head, gazing at her. Warmth filled her. He was sexy without trying to be sexy.
God, she could look at him all day long.
She waved when she couldn't walk backward any longer without looking. He lifted his chin, tucking his hands in his jean pockets. Filled with butterflies, she turned and walked the rest of the way to her e-bike.
He'd surprised her. She never would've guessed him for a man who'd go out of his way to flirt with her.
Glancing over at him, she found him standing with his MC brothers, still looking at her. She smiled, knowing he probably couldn't see the excitement making her jittery.
She pedaled away, humming under her breath. Day. Officially. Made.
Chapter Twenty Six
"I wish I could live here." Trina, sitting beside Zach, leaned against his arm. "Your mom is so nice."
"School starts next week. We can see each other every day, and I don't think mom will care if we hang around town after school until she's off work," said Zach.
"Yeah, but I still have to go home." Trina groaned. "My dad's a...freak. He scares me."
Sitting in the living room near the open window, Bonnie heard the conversation and wanted to rush outside and ask Trina to tell her what Speeder had done to her.
She shook, fearing the worst. Not wanting to scare Trina by overreacting, she tried to calm down.
The rumble of a motorcycle approached the house. Unable to sit still any longer, Bonnie went out on the porch. Teenagers exaggerated all the time. Any time she grounded Zach or Kenny, they acted as if she'd ruined their life.
She understood Trina and Speeder were new to the father/daughter relationship, and Trina had lost her mom. That was a lot of changes for anyone, no matter the age, to go through.
But she couldn't be too careful when it came to a child's cry for help.
"Are you excited for school, Trina?" she asked, eyeing the driveway for the sight of Speeder.
Trina pulled her backpack closer and put the bag on her lap, hugging it to her chest. "A little."
"Well, if you need any help getting school supplies or clothes, let me know. I'd be happy to help you." She looked at her boys. "Though I'm not sure what kind of help I'll be, because Zach and Kenny think fashion includes wearing band T-shirts and new jeans. But it would be fun to shop for girl things."
"Okay." Trina forced a smile. "Thanks, Ms. Durham-Murphy."
She laughed. "Just call me Bonnie."
Trina's shoulders relaxed, and a natural smile came to her face. She wished there were more she could do for the girl. As soon as she could, she would interrogate Zach and get more of the story about why Trina feared her dad.
Speeder pulled up. Bonnie squinted, studying the man closer, trying to figure out what was
