lie on my side, taking Stella with me until I took her spot and Stella was draped on top of me.

Her heavy breaths puffed out, making her hair tickle my chest with each exhale. “I don’t think I’ll be able to move for the foreseeable future. That was ten times better than on the boat.”

“As much as what we experienced back in Spain was good, great even, you’re right. What just occurred between us was phenomenal, and it makes me think sex with us will only continue to get better.”

Stella hummed. “I like that challenge. I’ve never felt so blissed out in my life.” Her fingers skimmed up my ribcage and along my shoulder, until she was tracing the tattoo I got with my unit when we were on leave. Some days I wished I hadn’t gotten it so I wouldn’t have the reminder etched into my skin forever, but then there were days like today when it was easy to think of all the good times and the amazing men I served with.

“I’m glad I could be of service.” My hands skimmed along her silky skin, making my already semi-erect cock harden further. Leaving her and going back to the station was going to be difficult. After everything, I hoped Stella wouldn’t think it was a wham bam, thank you ma’am type thing. If it was up to me, I’d stay here like this with her until she kicked me out.

We lay like that until her breathing slowed, and at one point, I thought she’d fallen asleep until she spoke. “I know you’re going to have to leave soon. This has been nice, though.” She snuggled further into me, wrapping one leg with mine.

“It has, but just because I have to leave tonight doesn’t mean we won’t see each other again. I know where you live and have your phone number, and you’ve got mine. There’s no excuse for us this time.”

She tilted her head up to look at me with strands of hair all over her face. “I know you’re going to be busy, so whenever you can give me your time, I’ll take it.”

Brushing her hair out of her face, I leaned down and sucked on her lower lip. “You can count on it. I’m not going to let you disappear out of my life again. Now, what do you say we see if I can make it impossible for you to walk until tomorrow?” I swiveled my hips, sliding the tip of my cock through the wetness between her thighs.

Grinning like a cat that ate the canary, she straddled me. “You read my mind.”

Spending my nights with Remy was wonderful. The Earth-shattering sex will make it hard to forget him, but in the back of my head, I was always wondering what was going to happen when he left and went back to Florida. He’d told me all about his dad, and the few times I’d heard him talking to his father, it was sweet the way he’d reassure him he was fine and hadn’t been put in any danger that day.

I also didn’t know when Remy’s time here would be up. The fire seemed to be better contained, but I wasn’t back in my house yet. I didn’t want to risk having to leave again, and Pen’s place was much closer to Remy. I didn’t want to waste our time driving back and forth when we could be doing other things.

“I can feel you thinking.” His voice rumbled through his chest where I had my head resting.

“I’m always thinking about what I’m going to write next.” It wasn’t a lie. Usually, I was thinking about what I’d write about the next day, but not when I was with Remy.

“Is there something else on your mind?” The hand that had been sifting through my hair paused at the nape of my neck.

Damn, I guess I wasn’t as good at hiding what I was thinking or feeling as I thought. “How did you know?”

He let out a long exhale. “I’ve been feeling it since we ate at the Mexican restaurant. I let it go then, but I thought eventually you’d tell me what’s on your mind.”

Rolling onto my front, I crossed my arms over his chest and rested my chin on my arm as I looked up at him. Remy’s hair was flopped down over his forehead and sexily tousled from my fingers pulling on it earlier.

“It seems too soon to say anything.” My gaze shifted, unable to look at him. Instead, I let my eyes roam over the tattoos on his arm. “I didn’t want to run you off before anything got started between us.”

“Something started between us back in Spain. It might not have been what we expected, but that something lingered inside both of us during the months we were apart, even though we never thought we’d see the other again. Correct me if I’m wrong.”

Lifting my lashes, I found Remy’s eyes locked on me. “You’re not wrong.”

His hand slid from my hair and around to cup the side of my head. “Then it’s not too soon for you to tell me whatever it is that’s been on your mind for the last week.”

“If you say so, but if you run, I’m going to hunt you down and smother you.” I cracked a grin to let him know I was only kidding. Kind of, anyway. “I’ve been wondering what we’re doing here. Is this going to end when you go back to Florida? Every night I wonder if it will be our last.”

“Oh, my Stella Bella.” Remy rolled us until I was on my side, tucked against his warm, toned body, and we were nose to nose. “I can’t say how long I’m going to be working here, but I can tell you one thing, I’m not going to be on a plane back to Florida the next day if you’re not with me.”

I blinked several times as I tried to comprehend
