Again, the patience of Yvonne Van Gaasbeck, a former coroner in Georgia, is appreciated. She’s always ready and willing to share her knowledge. For this book, she specifically helped me understand that hyoid bones are not as easily broken as one might be led to believe—and not necessarily as readily detectable.
A thank you goes out to lawyer Addie King for her willingness to share her expertise in criminal defense. Her continued insights will no doubt prove even more helpful as the series moves forward, along with Julie Steele’s criminal trial. Addie is also a paranormal/fantasy author.
As with the first instalment in this series, help received from local law enforcement in Prince William County, Virginia, has been extremely valuable.
And speaking of Prince William County… If you’re familiar with the area, including Dumfries, Woodbridge, and Haymarket, you probably noticed that I took some creative license—including assigning fictional names to some streets. But, hey, that’s what authors often do.
Lastly, but not least, a shoutout goes to all first responders—the police, firefighters, paramedics, and medics. And let’s not forget others on the front line at hospitals and clinics who help save lives, while putting theirs on the line. Thank you for all that you do.
