“Well, let’s see, I’m looking at a baby girl around four or five months old with brown hair and a mark on the back of her head,” I say describing the little girl Bane’s holding in his arms.
“Yeah, that would be my daughter,” he snapped.
“Shame you allowed her to be taken from you. Do you think you deserve to have her back?” Yeah I know I’m a fuckin’ asshole. They don’t call me Scorch for nothing. I could care less about anyone’s emotions.
“Who the fuck are you?” Stoney demands.
“Name’s Scorch, President of the Royal Bastards, Elizabeth City Charter. Now, you answer my question— do you think you deserve to have her back?” I ask, harshly.
There’s a long pause and I pull the phone from my ear to make sure he hasn't disconnected.
“That’s my fuckin’ daughter and I want her back. Her family wants her back. Now, I suggest you either bring her to me or tell me where to meet you,” he commands.
“You all may want her back, but do you deserve to have her back? As I see it, you failed to protect her once. What’s to say it won’t happen again?” I scoff.
“Look, motherfucker, I don’t fuckin’ know you and you sure as hell don’t know me. Corinne isn’t mine by blood, but she is my daughter. Just like her brother. I’d die before ever seeing her hurt. I haven’t even been home since the day she and her brother were kidnapped. I haven’t seen my ol’ lady, who was beaten. Or been able to get shit under control there because I’m not going home without my daughter.” That’s all I needed to hear to know whether or not I was doing the right thing.
Stoney isn’t going to want to start a war with us. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t from the tone in his voice.
“You can meet me at the Eure at noon,” I state nodding to myself as I disconnect and toss the phone onto the desk. “We won’t have any problems with handing this little girl back to her family.”
“Good, let’s get this shit over with so I can get back and have some fun with Fantasy and Cookie,” Bane says as he stands up and hands the baby back to me.
“Yeah you have fun with that,” I chuckle as I stand to follow him. Grinning I close the door to my office only to have it wiped from my face as I walk into the main room of the clubhouse. Standing in the center of the room staring directly at me with wide green eyes that have haunted my dreams is none other than my wife.
Fuck I don’t want to do this shit now.
Chapter Six
Emery
Why is there pain ricocheting off my heart? It’s my own damn fault. I should have known he had a family.
Damn him and whoever that baby’s mother is. I never should have come here. Not to the clubhouse. What I should’ve done was pack Stone up and head somewhere else. Start over, but I guess you can say I’m a glutton for punishment.
So here I stand staring at the man I’m still married to holding his baby. A baby that I didn’t give birth to.
Damnit, I need to get out of here. There’s no way I’m going to make a fool of myself. Shaking my head, I turn on my heel without saying a word to head for the door.
“Step out that door and I’ll make sure you regret it Emery.” A shiver shoots down my spine at his commanding voice.
“Fuck you, Samuel,” I throw out over my shoulder and push through the door letting it slam behind me.
I barely make it to the car Demi rented before the tears begin to blind me. It’s a good thing she was in the States and was only an hour away when I’d called her. She’d been at Sinners Cove, a strip club in Gates, having her fun with a friend of hers.
Snatching the door open I go to climb in only to have an arm wrap around me from behind and pull me back against a wall of muscle. Not just any wall of muscle either. I could tell by the scent of his cologne that it was him.
“You think you can just come into my clubhouse and storm away like you have a right to be pissed at me. I don’t fuckin’ think so. In fact, your ass is supposed to be at the house not here,” Samuel snarls in my ear.
“Let me go,” I demand, clawing at his arm.
“Don’t think so Angel.” I still in his arms as he calls me by a name I haven’t heard used since the day everything went to hell. “Now we’re going back inside I’ve got shit to do and you're not leaving since you decided to come here,” he snaps.
“I’m not going anywhere with you. Just let me go and I’ll be on my way,” I grind out.
“Nope, you can either come back inside willingly or I’ll put you over my shoulder, Angel,” he retorts.
“I’m not your Angel or anything else. Go back to your baby and leave me alone,” I yell sinking my nails into his arm.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” he demands as he turns me in his arms to face him.
“You know what I’m talking about jerk, now let me fuckin’ go before I hurt you. I’m not your Angel anymore.” I huff, diverting my gaze.
“Try to hurt me and I’ll spank that ass of yours red,” he says, his grip tightening around my waist. I will not let him know just how much those words affect me. Unfortunately staying silent, causes him to chuckle. “You always did love it when I brightened that ass of yours.”
My face feels as if it were on fire at his words and it doesn’t help that my body lights up at his touch.
“Look Samuel . . .”
“Scorch,” he snaps, interrupting
