DEPENDENCE
What are some of the things that you depend on and rely on heavily? Is there something that you really hold accountable for your actions and the way that you think and do things? Is there a source that you trust enough to make all your decisions? Well let me tell you about this thing that we call dependence and how that it has killed us over the years and till this day it is still hurting, killing us daily. Back in the slave times we had no other source for anything, we had no real true upbringing and so therefore we had to rely on what the slave master had to tell us and show us. Little did we know that what they were telling and teaching us it was not the way of the bible and it was really what they wanted to do and no one could not over ride it and say that it was wrong or that it is not right what you are doing to us. All the ones that we had we had each other and we did not really know the difference betwixt one and two. So how did we do it and stayed with the slave master for so long? Some of us was just like fuck it and we will ride this thing out until the wheels fall off and we will not complain cause if we did that they would get whipped till there skin came off. When the British came over to take the Africans away from their land they (the Africans) could not first of all speak any English and they knew not nothing about this man that has come with this pale skin and all these boats, so they were terrified of their lives. Now after that they have taken fully control of the race they just thought that this was they thing to do. Enough about that, let’s talk about now this thing that is at hand and the thing that has held us back for so long? What does it mean to depend on someone , well it really goes back to slaves and how that they were treated and driven to the point that they had no other way to do things without the white man and his approval. If the slave master did not want it done then it would not get done and if he wanted it a certain way then that was the way that it was gonna be. So this is the case of where we started to depend on man is when we had to go to master to get it. Till this day we still as a race depend on certain things to get done. There are groups of people that are out there that totally thrive on trying to help the cause for the black people and the cause but at the same time we as a race take totally advantage of it and it is causing a backlash for some that come with the real need and help of these programs and groups. We have philanthropist and humanitarians that give to the cause of life as they see fit, but they are misguided by trying to always help those that can really help them selves. And so by these groups that are out there to help they area hurting us at the same time because we are not trying to go and do things for ourselves because we depend on these people to give us what we need instead of going and getting it ourselves. There is a song that James Brown made famous back in the day of the civil rights movement and it goes that if you just open the door I can get it myself, I do not need you to give me anything. Are we ever as a race and a nation gonna stop with this thing about going with our hands out like cups begging and pleading for help and stuff that we do not really need just because someone else has it? Shit man I want a lot of things that other people have and stuff that I see I want, but I will not sell myself out to be sold out just to have what the Jones’ have and what they seem to always have. There is one thing that I have been taught by my mother and that is that do not depend on anyone, not even me she said, and till this day I don’t depend on her for anything. That is a lesson that she taught me as a kid growing up. The lesson behind that is that she is not always gonna be there that is why I do not depend on her or anyone for that matter. So learn to do things on your own and stop begging for shit when you know that you do not need it. My daddy taught me one thing as well and that is that if you want something you have it and anything that you want as long as you are working and have money in your pocket you can get it. My parents did not give me anything that I did not need or deserve, so this is it and that is all that I have to say about that.
