Flames eat away at the buildings,
Yet the people just stand there and do nothing.
Ashes rise into the air,
Yet all anyone can do is stand and stare.
Homes and schools all gone.
The people cannot help but wonder what they did wrong.
The city never falls, just burns with no end.
The people all pray for some kind of God-send.
Forever burning with flames rising into the air,
The city burns as the people wish life could be fair.
Flames eat away slowly at their lives,
Yet all they can do is stand and ask "WHY?"
The entire city is consumed by flames,
And the forever burning buildings are the only remains.
Then a voice sings out into the smoke-filled air.
It is the song of a little girl holding a charred teddy bear.
She has nothing left of her life,
Yet she still manages to keep that bear at her side.
The song she sings is of sadness and loss,
A song telling of all that has been lost.
The little girl's message is so sweet,
The people cannot help but weep.
She sings "There is hope left."
At her words, many hearts leapt.
So sweet her song was to them,
They could not help but join in.
As a city and a life burned,
A miracle was sent and heard.
Forever in our hearts lives that song,
Waiting to come out when things go wrong.
