promise

Promise: By Justus mason

IS my voice shakey
another kid screaming for his blankey
a mother desperately crying
as she watches her last son dying
a Bomber flies overhead
just another promise of dead

The soldiers buddies getting shot
clutching family photos cause thats all they got
bullets whizzing by out of breath
just another promise of death

The madmen behind the scene
always keeps his hands clean
He calls you the liar
while he sets thousands on fire
the sick and wounded left to die
civilians wondering why

The soldiers buddies getting shot
clutching family photos cause thats all they got
bullets whizzing by out of breath
just another promise of death

Then we the fiends
pull up in our war machines
resistance is futile
we'll kick you until you spit up bile
cover cities in death's shroud
the promise of death rings loud

The soldiers buddies getting shot
clutching family photos cause thats all they got
bullets whizzing by out of breath
just another promise of death

War is fuel by greed
with the capitalist at the head pushing without heed
If we could all swallow our pride
we could enjoy the ride
and when that war comes to an end
there is just another one around the bend
a non stop cycle
thats running out of resources to recycle
in world of sell or buy
alot of people die
fueled by the promise of death
gives us our violent rep

Flip a coin

It is blessing and a curse watching you breathe

Upon my chest

Knowing you have leave

And it is for the best

So I flip a coin and try to forget the rest

Sirens flash, emotions crash, into the wall

You have built around you, and down the hall

You listen and wonder if any of it is true

You wonder why I should leave and shout “how about you?!”

So I flip a coin and my heart tears anew

I clasp my head, I hold it high

I call her name, she passes by

I Miss the colors you used to bring

I miss the songs birds used to sing

I flip a coin, and clutch my wedding ring

I miss getting lost in your eyes all the while

Being found again, only to get lost in your smile

Why did you leave for another?

I thought we were meant for each other

I flip a coin, and decide not to bother

Take my flesh and dive right in

Don’t mind my blood, my soul, my skin

My blood is thin and my soul is gone

My faith is weak and starting to run

I flip a coin, and realize we are truly done.

I watch you with him and feel trapped in a crowd, the faces my own

Looking, wanting, and searching for home.

These shadows of doubt devour my confidence

I hate you but still hold you in reverence

I flip a coin, hoping for brilliance.

Years of pining wasted

Years of anger baited

Feeling like cartoon badly drawn

After what seemed an eon

I flipped coin, and decided to move on

Thin

Gold glints across the naked sky

All fear the ever watching eye

Lightning arcs across as it makes its path

All cower before his vengeful wrath

Water boils, and mountains shake

Trees crumple, men in boots quakes

All fear him except for one

A man so strong he could hurl the sun

He marches up mount Olympian’s steep steps blade in hand

The tyrant’s head his only demand

When he approaches the otherworldly gates

The Keepers ask who he is so he slates

“I am your downfall and I claim thy crown”

They refuse his entrance so rage filled he must break the gates down

The Keepers chuckle like dry leaves and draw their own steel

He severs limbs and heads as he spins his firebrand about like a wheel

But all his foes are not vanquished, not yet

They are whole again but from blood wet

This time they wrap their swords in shadows

They step aside and transmorph into great willows

The gates slide open without a sound

He steps into the sanctuary and looks around

He jumps as the gates slam with a crash

And shudder as the courtyard is filled with a horrible laugh

He continues his journey and along the way

There are many he must burn and slay

Who all become whole and allow him to continue

With every step the hero’s energy does renew

When he reaches his query he appears very old

As he sits upon his throne of gold

His hand is a glow

He holds the universe and is making time slow

This immortal is trying to never die

it is then that our hero lets his sword fly

It spears the tyrant’s hands so he can never perish

Our hero turns to the tyrant and shakes his head scared to finish

And says “You must hold my sword in place

It is called the sun and will hold the universe together like a tight lace”

The hero approached with a hunting knife and sawed off his head

Sadly does he tie it in a bag at his waist and knows he’ll never be dead

He scoops up the crown and bows

To the body and places it upon his brow

He looks up and asks “why father did this have to begin

Thunder was my reply and I knew my chance were slim

I knew my quest had many more queries

Just I knew my father was Zeus and I was Ares

Ugly flower

An ugly flower not at all short

Just needs a little support

While the wind is blowing

It is not at all slowing

It sways in the winds wrath

But it and only it gets the last laugh

While it used to grow alone in the corner

Now a mound around its base keeps it warmer

No longer does it sway

No longer at night alone it lays

Just waiting to be picked up and smelled

Just that thought makes the flower swell

But it is another tale of woe is me

Waiting for its time to be free

The archer

The bow tip shined in the moonlight

Signaling the beginning of a great fight

The arrows always strikes the enemies heart

To sway the battle from the start

The bowstring used to strangle lies

The one way ticket to hell, the archer buys

The wood bent fro, the straightest of truths

No man lives when the archer shoots from the roofs

Hope

my life was a dismal black hole I fell in

I'd curl up and let life spin around me

I was hurting and hurtling towrds nowhwere

I was hitting depression and danger, never hope

I noticed you when the stars kissed your fair skin

I got entrapped as your love started to surround me

You struck me and knocked off course

I started my trek towards hope

I'm an archer and I shall strike your heart

My arrow tips forever shining in the moonlight

you have done the greates deed

you knocked me towards hope

Never to be seen again

In the dark, a mother sits, starts to cry

Wonders why, her only son had to die

She remembers it like it was yesterday

How her son used to run and play

With his toy soldier, but he don’t play no more

Told his folks he was off to war

After a tear felt goodbye

The very next day would be the day that he’d die

Sitting in a truck convoy

Got hit by I.E.D., big toy

The explosion went right through is face

His buddies ran trying to get the hell out of the place

When the news struck hit the mother front doorstep

Her heart just leapt

A man got out of his government car

All she was handed was medal and an empty jar.

Never to be seen again

Not by the world, family, or friend

Why choose something that will be your end and never be seen again

Another person feels so alone

Her
