River Stones

Rough around the edges, beginning my long journey home

never knowing the amazing process I will undergo

like river stones, love will be refined

as the waters flow throughout time

shaping and molding my life

granite slowly washes away

softening and smoothing

caressing my

heart

Enchanted

E nchanted by this azure blue glade

N evermore shall I depart this oasis

C aptured by the melodious birdsong

H umbled in the presence of my Lord

A mazed to experience such serenity

N evermore shall I have want or need

T aking in the elegance of the forest

E nraptured as lush canopies beckon

D elighted to embrace my new haven

Love Is More Than Beauty

Surrounded by ladies from all sides

to win your heart, they have tried

But alas, my prince is unimpressed

your bridal search causes distress

My humble clothes cannot compare

to the fine attire of maidens so fair

My countenance pales in comparison

to those with beautiful complexions

Sometimes love is more than beauty

draw near, listen as I sing to thee

A lowly servant girl am I, my dear

your rejection is the thing I fear

My love is the only gift I can give

it is yours for as long as we live

Riches and prestige, I do not seek

my lips thirst for yours, I am weak

Trembling with longing, I offer you

a lifetime of devotion, forever true

Now as you pull me into your embrace

I know I've found my rightful place

We Can Build A Snowman

The earth is frozen solid

caught up in winter's spell

The air between us is frigid

since the temperatures fell

We sling around accusations

ears stinging from the insults

We lack healing conversation

into pain, our drama catapults

I know there must be a solution

Let's not break apart our family

We will find a path to absolution

I love you and you still love me

Oh, we can build a snowman

together, we can build a bridge

Walk the world hand-in-hand

meeting halfway upon this ridge

Oh, we can build a snowman

laugh and frolic as we used to

Side-by-side we'll always stand

resurrecting love we once knew

Kiss away all the damage done

joining together body and soul

Hearts beating in unison, as one

happiness and joy will be our goal

Untamed

Running fast as a wolf on the prowl

sailing swift as an eagle's wings

roaming freely upon land

untamed by man or beast

heart is owned by none

swim in the sea

drink as deep

waters

flow

Bright Future Ahead

A part of me had almost given up

on the life I've dreamed of living

But suddenly gladness fills my cup

hope shines; new life it is giving

Too much time has been wasted

sweet victory will soon be tasted

Every moment should be cherished

faith in tomorrow has not perished

My mourning has turned into joy

deep depression was the devil's ploy

I draw my strength from the Lord

sadness no longer cuts like a sword

Safe within His arms, I rise above

I'll always experience His love

I draw such comfort in knowing

courage fills me to overflowing

I have a very bright future ahead

with renewed confidence, I tread

Time to embrace the future I see

and travel on towards my destiny

Ode To Miss Monroe

Legendary goddess, bathed in diamonds

O media darling, flaxen-haired vixen

With such beauty, with such grace, unbroken spirit

Lady mired down by many sorrows

O hear her sing and dance! View the silver screen!

Come, see her billowing, white garment rise

Paparazzi cameras capture our Marilyn

Golden child who glitters brightly

Seeker of love; searcher of happiness

Candle snuffed out by a dreary wind

God So Loved

In His great mercy

He gave us a second chance

because God so loved

Innocent Victims

They bear the burdens

innocent victims of harm

live each day with fear

hiding the bruises they wear

praying to escape the pain

Looking Inside

Here I stand nose pressed against the pane

only so much the thin curtains can conceal

Droplets slowly trickle down from the rain

hoping my face, the window won't reveal

Only so much the thin curtains can conceal

my sister's sad tears drift to me, so loud

Hoping my face, the window won't reveal

hovering up above is a massive gray cloud

My sister's sad tears drift to me, so loud

her husband's fists bruised her lovely skin

Hovering up above is a massive gray cloud

I can feel my patience starting to wear thin

Her husband's fists bruised her lovely skin

she doesn't see me out here looking inside

I can feel my patience starting to wear thin

there is a safe haven where we can both hide

She doesn't see me out here looking inside

the furious, shouting man leaves the room

There is a safe haven where we can both hide

it's time to end the abusive cycle of gloom

The furious, shouting man leaves the room

so I enter and encourage my sister to flee

It's time to end the abusive cycle of gloom

we make our escape and she is finally free

Hearts Never Lie
