Summer Heat

The summer heat is stifling me,
I feel like I am in an oven, roasting
A breeze comes by, caresses me

I am stifled again,

I would love to know the lasting peace of the breeze,
To feel free to breath, to live, to love
Send me that breeze again, Lord

Ahh, there it is, and again gone.
I feel the sweat trickle down my throat,
Where is my respite?

I feel that way much in my life,
Where is my respite?
I work and work trying to find peace,
Trying to just make it through

Something nice will happen , but for how long?
Back to the grind,
I pray again for the breeze to come back to stay

I sit here again in the heat, praying that it ends
Please Lord, help me,
I need to feel your breath cool, sweet and loving
Here is the breeze again, so wondrous
It lasts longer this time,

Can my peace last longer as the breeze does?
Will my life always be this hard?
The wind starts to kick up, there is almost a chill
Is this a sign of things getting better?
Oh thank you Lord, I know you are near,

I sit now in the cool breeze,
Feeling free and alive,
Things will get better I must have faith,
My respite is coming, I will rest in it,
I feel the tingle of wind hitting the sweat from before.

Aahh, what a beautiful summer day this is.
