Trials of life(Trolaan)
Often life becomes perilous
Obfuscated, we stop, falter.
Overloaded with stress, nervous;
Overwhelmed, tense in our danger.

Fear grapples us with all its might.
Fumbling, we don't know what to do.
Fortitude is what we need right.
Forbearance can be our rescue.

Easily we can overcome
Every obstacle in our life,
Each thorn in our path if we stay
Equable even in our strife.

As we face each hurdle with ease
And thread our way through the risky
Acclivities, worrying we cease.
At last our spirits turn lively.

Adieu (Tri-fall)
There lies a sand castle
made of dreams,
only for you and me to see.
Holding hands we amble,
as soft beams
gleam in our eyes with profound glee.

Brimming with divine love,
happiness,
our august home towering high.
God showers from above,
blessedness,
as on the wings of joy we fly.

Forgetting past sorrow
we embrace
with the firm promise of a new,
ecstatic tomorrow
and erase
darkness and to it say adieu.

Flow with life (Rondel)
Don't brood over the past and things before.
Just like a quick river let your life flow.
With sheer happiness make your face aglow.
Be glad with what you have, don't ask for more.

Think of bright days to come and don't feel sore.
Life is a cycle of mirth and sorrow.
Don't brood over the past and things before.
Just like a quick river let your life flow.

Stop musing on the gloomy days of yore.
Life has both joy and sadness to bestow,
Take life as it comes and upsets, although
Remember that sunny days are in store.
Don't brood over the past and things before.

Unparalleled beauty ( Double Cinquain)
Lovely
pink blossoms lure
with unequaled beauty,
birds peck at them hungrily in
delight.

Nature
unfurls itself
with azure skies and white
clouds welcoming the advent of
new spring.

A Sculptor(Couplet)
There was once an empty-handed sculptor,
Who engraved statues at his heart's mentor;
His days passed in great despair, torment,
As the rich did not admit his talent;
With his mother ailing he used to starve,
and on rocks lovely things he used to carve;
Weeping profusely one day he went beside a river,
Seeing a nymph suddenly his heart began to quiver;
On looking at her he began to faint,
She was studded in jewels a bit quaint;
The nymph gave him a boon,
"You will be a rich man soon ."
Thus ends the story of the sculptor as a rich man,
With power and glam and no one to pan.

Father( Free verse)
Since when I was a
child playing in your lap,
like the brightest star you
have shone in my life till today.
I do not carp
with your rebuke,
because I know that
it is for my good.
You think of me even
when you are busy,
like a planet revolving
around the Sun your
thoughts encircle me.
When things go wrong you
show me the right way,
From all sorts of problems
you keep me away.
Under the umbrella of your
protection I live till today,
even when you will be gone
your love shall glimmer
like the Moon at night.
Thank you Father, for
being such an adorable dad.

She (Free verse)
If rubies be red
her cheeks are redder.
If snow be white
her complexion is whiter.
If turquoise be blue
her eyes are bluer.
If the sun be golden
her hair is lovelier.
If corals be reddish-pink
her coral lips are far better.
If Heaven be bliss
she is more joy.
The prettiest flower ever bloomed
thats how my love is.

Foredoomed( Constanza)
Above billowy, grey clouds loom
While heavy rain drops plop and splash.
Against my heart memories lash.

Rumbling thunders snap, crack and boom.
My bitter past gushes forward
As my mind retraces backward.

Sparks of lightning portend a doom.
I recall how you had dumped me,
Playing games with my love with glee.

The black sky spreads a pall of gloom.
Desolate feelings in me rain
Giving me intense sorrow, pain.

Tears welled up fall finding no room.
You did deceive me, that is plain.
I understand, our love was in vain.

The Truth (Double Ehere)
As
night falls,
murky dreams
of a wrecked wench
disrupt my peaceful
slumber and I wake up
hearing the shrieks of a girl.
Catching the glimpse of a shadow
I follow it and see a gory
gal with her red eyes glowering at me.
Transfixed I mumble, pleading her not to
kill me and let me go when a hoarse,
raspy voice stops me and reveals
a secret of betrayal
by a man whom she loved.
Startled, I look at
my husband with
disbelief
and I
cry.

Ode to a poet(Monometer)

Poets
churn out
feelings
on the
paper
in words.

Alike
flowers
their sweet
fragrance
pervade
through air,
evoke
joy, mirth.

Sometimes
writings
mend our
broken
hearts and
restrain
sorrow.

Soulful
writings
summon
voices
deep from
the soul
and delve
into
our souls.

Fizzled out ( RemyLa Rhyme)

Yonder you stand, mighty fortress
Amidst a land mantled with pure white snow.
Your exquisite comeliness is unparalleled,
Your charisma, attraction is boundless.

Boundless joy to all you impart.
Enticed by you, soft sunrays caress you
Enhancing your mesmerization and thus the
Envy of many tears your heart.

Heart of yours is immaculate
As the chaste snow surrounding you.
You reciprocate his love and build hope within
And their attempts you do frustrate.

Frustrate them, his heart you conquer.
Good wins over malevolence and thus a
Bond of love with the mellow sun is formed adding
to your strength, loveliness yonder.

Metamorphosis ( Free verse)

Exhuming myself from the remains of
my past, I find nothing but depression
crushing my heart and piercing my soul.

Like a ghoulish dream passed those gloomy days --
an avalanche of sorrow, making tears
roll down my cheeks, drowning my battered soul.

An unbearable emptiness in
my heart, I groped for a ray of light in
my lonely melancholy.

Then a sudden aura of cognizance
surrounded me as I read through the book
"Kathamrita", enlightening my mind.

I was startled at the transformation
of my soul that turned a
new leaf, making me sprightly and cheerful.

Now, armed with true knowledge, and
spiritually purified,
I fail to recognize
my once dismal self.

Life’s game (Japanese Sedoka)

You can never count
on success till the end though
you may achieve earlier.

Often life traps in
a tricky situation,
causing a predicament.

Temptation (Trinet)

Icy knoll
Atop red
Berries hanging from the branches, like
Santa's gifts stacked on Christmas tree.
Burgundy delicacies
Tempting my
Taste buds.

Scarlet fruits
Topped with
Crisp slush, enticing me with their
Beauty, causing an irresistible urge to
Eat them.
They aggravate
my hunger.

My mouth
Watering at
Their sight, I decide to devour
Them unable to subdue my voracity.
Smacking lips
to take
a bite.

Death toll (Huitain)

Finally, the knell has been rung.
As their claws pierce your tender flesh,
Blood spurting, taints the dim stars strung.
This will give many a gooseflesh
For wolves will quench their thirst afresh.
Time for dirges, though left unsung
Praying for those whom Death has stung.
It is your gore that they refresh.

The Sunset of Life (Nonet)

We all head toward eternity,
the ultimate goal of our life
after we complete our stay
in this transient sphere.
We must be prepared
for the sunset
as it brings
a new
start.
