Chapter 1
“Mom! Hurry up we are going to be late!” I shouted to my mom. Tonight I was going to my best friend Cathryn’s house for one of our weekly sleepovers we have during the summer. I pulled out my phone and sent Cathryn a quick text.
“Leaving now! Be there soon! (:” I sent and put my phone in my lap. So much drama happened in the past week; I just needed our gossip sessions we always have to clear my mind. Well and the fact that she has amazingly hot brothers could make me happy too.
“Alright!” she texted, “see ya soon! (:”
After waiting in the car for which seems like 30 minutes, my mom finally comes out. The car ride is pretty quiet until we stop at a red light.
“So,” she says casually, “who is going to be there tonight?”
“Oh you know the usually, me, Cathryn, and Emily.” I say flipping through radio stations.
“Okay,” she says as we pull into Cathryn’s driveway. Have a fun time. I’ll pick you up at 11:30!”
“Okay. See you tomorrow.” I say as I pull my bag from the backseat.
I smiled as I walked up her front steps and rang the doorbell about 50 times considering it takes her forever to come to the door. I quickly brush my hair toward the side when one of her older brothers, Joe, opens the door.
“Hey look who’s here.” He jokingly says as I walk in.
“I know surprise, surprise.” I joke as Cathryn comes down.
“Geez Joe are you ever going to put a shirt on?” she says shaking her head.
“Nah, the ladies love it like this,” he says as he walks through the kitchen toward the living room.”
Cathryn and I both roll our eyes as we walk to her kitchen to grab a snack. As I take a peak in her living room I notice her other brother, Jon, and his two friends Trevor and Danny.
Hot guy alert!
“Danny’s here?!” I gasp a little too loud though.
“Shhh!” she whispered with a smirk on her face, “he might hear you!”
Danny was one of Jon’s super cute friends that Cathryn and I absolutely loved; well maybe I wasn’t as obsessed as she was but that is beside the point. They were all off to college in the fall, so Cathryn and I try to hang out with them as much as possible.
“Hey so where is Emily?” I ask digging around in her freezer for some ice cream.
“She couldn’t make it tonight. She said something about her mom not letting her. I don’t know.” She said shrugging.
“Alright, well let’s go to your room. I need to put my bag away.”
Right when we got in her room she slammed the door shut and turned around.
“OMG linds I have some news.” she says surprisingly.
“Geez calm down!” I say as I start laughing. “What could possibly be this good?”
She sits down on her bed as she gives me a smirk. “Drew is here.”
Chapter 2
At first I couldn’t even believe it. Drew was actually here, about 30 feet away from me.
“You have got to be joking!” I scream out as Cathryn gives me a smirk, “oh I mean, that’s nice.”
“Oh shut up!” she laughs, “I know you’ve been crushing on him since 6th grade! But tonight is the night to make your move!” she quickly stands up and walks over to her mirror. “But before we go impress the guys, we need to do some makeovers!”
I smile as I pick up my makeup bag and my iPod and carry them to her bathroom. We automatically start blasting music while doing each other’s makeup, definitely one of my favorite parts of sleeping over.
After we are done I look at myself in the mirror. Cathryn straightened my hair to perfection, and gave me some smoky eyes, long lashes, and a shimmery lip-gloss. I also changed into my favorite pair of jean shorts and a scoop neck shirt.
“Wow Cathryn, I look amazing!”
“Well I am a professional at this.” She said smiling, “but you really do look awesome linds.”
“Thanks. But have you seen yourself?!”
Cathryn has the best hair ever. She puts it in a messy bun for about 10 minutes and then she has beautiful curls; definitely envious of that. I gave her some shimmery eyes, bold lashes, and soft pink lip-gloss. I also let her borrow my shirt that she has been asking me about for months.
“Yeah, yeah,” she says, “but not compared to you.”
I roll my eyes. “Whatever, I think we are ready to go downstairs.”
“Just remember Danny is mine!” she says jokingly, but we both know she is completely serious.
As we walk downstairs I suddenly get nervous. I haven’t seen Drew in over a year. I mean he probably doesn’t even remember who the heck I am! He is a junior and I haven’t even started high school! Cathryn notices something is up and stops me before I enter the kitchen.
“You’re nervous aren’t you?”
“Mind reader.” I mumble embarrassed.
She laughs softly, “Oh come on Nicole! You have nothing to be nervous about! All we are going to do is talk to them and hang out! You can handle that can’t you?”
“I guess so. But you aren’t in this position! You see Danny like, what, every night?!”
“No, not every night, maybe like a couple times a week.”
I just stare at her and shake my head. A couple times a week my butt! I know Jon always hangs out with him, but I just let it go. I sweep my hair out of my face and motion to Cathryn to lead the way. As we walk through the living room toward Jon’s room I notice a bunch of guys who I recognize. There was Joe, Drew, Josh, who was a year older than me, and Mike who was also a junior. Right was we were about to go into Jon’s room I heard one of them whisper,
“Whoa, who is that with Cathryn??”
“That’s Nicole you idiot!” Joe said.
I smiled and follow Cathryn to Jon’s room.
When we enter Jon’s room I see him and Danny sitting on his bed. I give Cathryn a playful hit and she smiles.
As much as I like Drew, I can’t help it but stare at Danny. I just don’t understand how someone could be this hot! Right now he’s wearing jeans, a black T-shirt that shows off his muscles, and a hat. Incredible. I quickly stop myself because I notice Jon is looking at me.
“Um what are you two doing in here?” Jon asked.
“Can we use your laptop?” Cathryn asked.
“Sure, but don’t get any weird viruses on it.”
“Oh we are definitely planning on it.” I joke.
“Yeah I bet you two are. Just be careful.”
“Whatever,” Cathryn says as she grabs the laptop.
As we walk back through the living room I quickly glance up at Drew, but I notice he is looking at me too. I blush and just keep walking straight until we past them.
“Nicole! I saw him look at you like 2 times!” Cathryn exclaimed as we sat at the table in her kitchen.
“I know! I saw that too!”
I sit down in a chair that was visible from the living room, so I could occasionally look at Drew. I mean what can I say, if he is right there it’s hard not to stare! Cathryn and I turn on Jon’s laptop and sign in to Facebook. After about 15 minutes Joe and Drew come in the kitchen to get some food. My eyes automatically latch onto Drew and Cathryn sees me staring.
“Watch out for the drool,” she whispers while playfully elbowing me.
“Shut up,” I say as I roll my eyes.
“So Nicole,” Joe says while he takes a bite of a sandwich, “Drew has been talking about you and he is trying to work up the nerve to say hi. Maybe you could break the ice and say hello first.”
I automatically feel my face get hot and I smile. Drew punches Joe in the arm and whispers something, but I couldn’t make out what he said.
“Actually none of that happened,” Drew said nervously.
“That’s alright. No one actually believes Joe anyway,” I said while smiling and trying to be as calm as possible, even though it’s kind of impossible.
“Yeah I knew that. So Nicole I guess who have really changed since the last time I saw you. You look good. I mean not in like a weird way….what I’m trying to say is you look different.”
I laughed because I could tell he was really nervous. He kind of laughed, but he mainly just looked at his shoes.
“Well thanks Drew. You don’t look too bad yourself, or if it makes you feel better I could just agree and say you look different.” I said as I gave him a quick wink. I was definitely feeling more comfortable and I was getting in my flirtatious mood.
“Oh yeah? Well thanks then,” he said as he
