Prologue

“You know what? I’m done with this, with you! All you do is make me prance around, finishing all your I-came-up-with-these-to-torture-you tasks instead of doing usual intern jobs. You’re a stupid bastard, alright?! Yup, I said it. You can die in a hole, you...you...you son of a bitch!” I screamed at him, stomping away from his widened blue eyes.

I stormed out of the building, not paying any attention to the onlookers who gawked at me on the streets. I was too frustrated to hear the honk of a car. I was too frustrated to hear the cry of him telling me to look out. But I finally did look up, my goal being to yell my head off at what he wanted to say to me again, when I saw it. The car, headed straight for my way. Before I had the chance to comprehend, both him and I were on the pavement. That’s the last I saw, before everything went dark.

*******

Groaning, I cradled my head in my hands, as I adjusted my eyes to my surroundings. The bright walls surrounded me, with nothing around them. Suddenly an incredibly handsome man stepped in front of me. He too, was dressed in all white, sporting a tailored suit and matching white tie. Even his loafers were white. Where the hell was I and why are devilishly handsome men standing in front of me? My head was spinning, last I remembered, I blacked out in front of that moving car. Wait, where was Mr. McHale?

Suddenly, as if my mentioning him had anything to do with it, my boss sat next to me. He too, was groaning and rubbing his head. Opening his eyes, he stared at me with confusion, before both of our eyes traveled up towards the handsome angel-like figure.

“Where are we?” I questioned him. Why were we here, instead of at some hospital? Oh god, were we dead?

Smiling his pearly whites at us, he spoke in a fluid British accent.

“You, my love, are in an alternate dimension. It’s my job to help you,”

Wait, what?!

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Mr. McHale spat out. Normally, I would’ve been appalled at his temper, but I couldn’t blame him. I wanted to know what the hell he was talking about as well.

“I am your guardian angel, Macey, and I wanted to save you. And to do that, I had to pull you out, and change a few things, so that this problem would never have occurred in the first place,”

He smiled like it was the most normal thing he’d ever told someone. I didn’t care how hot he was. I needed answers, not some bunch of nonsense crap.

“No, no, you’re lying. Why am I here?” My screams echoed throughout the blank room.

“Macey, my dear mortal, it’s time to take a trip...to your past,”

My past? No, I can’t. I can’t revisit those memories. Never.

What the hell have I gotten myself into?

Chapter 1

If someone had told me I would almost die, get saved by a guardian angel, and end up flashbacking to my past, I’d probably laugh and tell you to save that joke for April fools. But this was real.
“Woah, hold up! This doesn’t even make any sense!” My boss shouted, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
I just stood there in shock. My mind was throbbing with a headache, and this crazy dream wasn’t helping.
“You both must come with me. It’s the only way you can forgive one another and save yourself from your fate. Unless, of course, you would like to die? I presume not, so shall we?” The so-called guardian angel maneuvered his hand behind him and a huge crystal water mirror appeared.
Caught by surprise, I could only stare at the water mirror in front of me. It sorta reminded me of a clear waterfall, except that instead of looking through, I could see my puzzled reflection into it.
“So, um, guardian angel guy, uh, what is that?” I questioned.
“That, Miss Aggorio, is a portal. It will transfer you back in time, where you can witness past moments, but it will be as if you were a ghost, merely observing, and not present to the normal eye. Oh, and by the way, you can just call me Demitri,” He answered back, exposing his pearly white teeth. For a guardian angel, he sure was hot. He swiveled around, facing towards the glossy portal and took a few large strides.
“Are you coming?” He asked us.
Both Mr. McHale and I stood still, before we faced each other. Taking a deep breath, I turned to face Demitri.
Taking a few steps at a time, I followed after him, and so did Mr. McHale.
I couldn’t believe I was actually doing this. Maybe I shouldn’t, No, that would literally end my life. The knots in my stomach clenched painfully. My past wasn’t something I wanted to show my boss. Tears began to fill the rims of my eyes but I held them back.
If I was gonna flashback in my life, I didn’t want to feel embarrassed. I would go in strong.
But, damn, I wish I bit those words back.

Chapter 2

Passing through the glossy mirror, I was suddenly in front of my parent’s house.
“Macey, you’re gonna miss the bus!” My mom yelled from inside.
Ten seconds later, emerged a six year old me in pigtails, clutching my princess backpack.
“Bye mommy!” I waved to my mom, who stood outside the door with a spatula in one hand and my baby brother in the other. My older brother, Chris, came rushing through the door. He was only ten at the time.
“Come on Mace, let’s go!” He shouted to me, grabbing my hand and dragging me to the bus stop. The bus pulled up to the curb, with my brother getting inside.
Suddenly, the scenery changed, and we were in the bus.
My eyes pooled with tears, I remember this day perfectly. Today marked the first day of my hell.
I was sitting in the seat, my backpack in my lap, looking out the window. We came to the next stop, but I didn’t look up.
Feeling the side of my seat dip down, I looked around to see a boy about my age, with tousled blond hair and big green eyes. From appearances he was quite cute.
*
Too bad the six year old me couldn’t tell how much of a bastard he truly was.
*
“John, I’m not sitting next to this girl! She’s got cooties!” The young boy exclaimed.
“I have no cooties!” I shouted back at him.
“Yes you do!”
“No I don’t!
“Prove it!”
“Fine!” I huffed, and grabbed his hand.
“Ooh, Derek’s got a girlfriend and she has cooties!” All of the blonde boy-Derek’s-friends laughed, pointing at our conjoined hands.
Derek ripped his arm away from me, before scowling at my face.
“You’re gonna regret that!” He whispered at me, before stomping off to the back of the bus.
*
All of a sudden, Demitri changed the scenery. I looked around, noticing that I was at junior high. We were in the school parking lot, where my mom’s Toyota pulled up.
*
“Bye Mom,” I said, getting out of the car. As my mom drove off, I ducked my head down, my brown locks hanging in my face, and scurried across the front lawn.
My eyes were covered in large prescription glasses, and my mouth was shut in a thin line, hiding my metal braces.

As I neared the school, I failed to notice a group of boys standing by the side, especially a certain one who was studying me carefully. As his friends continued to point and laugh, I ducked my head back down and scurried off. Even turned around, I could still feel the cold stare he was giving me. I shivered slightly, his haunting green eyes still sharp in my mind.

*
Suddenly, the three of us stood in the hallways of my high school. I saw myself walk in through the doors, in the usual clothes I wore.
I was at my locker now, spinning in my combination with my head down. The approach of footsteps could still be heard ringing through my ears. Demitri next to me gave me a sympathetic smile, but I could tell he didn’t like what was happening next.
*
“Mace,” warm arms wrapped around me from behind, and pushed me against a muscular chest. I shivered from his cold touch, the kind I used to like so much was now so foreign to me.
“D-derek. Hi,” I smiled meekly at him. His eyes blazed in fury, and I instantly remembered when he first looked at me with those cold eyes: back when I was six and too naïve to notice what type of person he was.
His grip on my waist tightened as he spun me around to face him. Eyes burning with hatred, he clipped out every word in a cold and dominant way.
“Look at me when I speak to you! I can’t have my girlfriend disrespecting me, alright?”
I wanted to cower away from his penetrating gaze, but I knew the hallway was littered with other students, and it would look bad if I cringed away from the very same boyfriend everyone thought was extremely charming and sweet.
I nodded once, and forced a smile onto my face. Leaning up, I pecked his cheek lightly and forced yet another smile onto my face.
His harsh gaze lessened back to his normal cold face. Leaning down, he whispered in my ear,
“Good, that’s the bitch I like. Now go, before I punish you for missing class. Can’t have perfect little Macey ruining my reputation,”
Eyes widening in fear, I whipped around, slammed my locker close and ran off to
