Chapter One
“Are you not simply filled with delight, Kitty,” Kathrine’s younger twin sister Lily trilled on excitedly as she stared out the carriage’s window at the passing, packed London streets.
Kathrine, or Kitty as she was affectionately dubbed by her sister Lily, sat primly in her seat, book in hand, and wanted to sigh after her sister’s quite silly, without-a-care attitude. Though only born minutes apart from each other their attitudes and outlooks on the world could not be any farther apart.
Kitty was weary of the long travel to reach London from Wales and simply wanted to be done with the nonsense of the whole affair. But for her sweet sister, she would endure the Season their father was paying for.
Not that she could blame their father as Lily had gone on about nothing else other than having a Season of her own for the past two years.
“Oh, you simply must be,” Lily continued on, not even pausing for Kitty’s answer.
Kitty looked across to the other cushioned bench on which their father sat his frame tall and they shared a knowing looking that made a hint of a smile creep across Kitty’s lips.
Lily was just as their mother had been. Lovely, lively and carefree. While Kitty on the other hand was just like her father. Serious and blunt to a fault, but kind to those she could title, well rather odd, like Lily.
“We are here!” came the gasp and she was dragged by the hand from the carriage before she could refuse and it had even stopped moving completely much to the horror of the coachmen.
As she took in the ground view of their father’s manor townhouse Kitty resigned herself to the months she know where to come. But she did smile slightly at the ridiculously happy grin on Lily’s face.
Perhaps it would not be all that bad.
