Chapter One

I woke up this morning to Taaron looking down at me with love in his eyes. I smiled up at him, as he leaned down as kissed me softly on my lips. He reached down to my swollen belly and placed his hands on it, still looking me in the eyes.
“Good morning beautiful”. Taaron said.
“Good morning”.
“I’m really excited to find out the sex of our baby today, but what else do you want to do”? Taaron asked.
“Not sure, I was thinking about going to hang out with hang out with Carmen and the girls today”.
“Okay, but be careful. We still haven’t figured out why those rouge wolves are on our territory. I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to you”.
“I know babe. I am going to go get ready for the doctor’s office”.
I got up out of bed and went into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and turning the hot water on to the shower. I undressed my swollen body and stepped into the running water, washing my body and hair. I got out of the shower and dried my body off, and then I went back into my bedroom. I looked in my closet for something that would fit me, but most of my clothes are too small now. Since all of my pants that fitted me were dirty, I decided to grab a pair of Taaron’s basketball shorts. I put on my panties and bra and then Taaron’s shorts and one of his white shirts. Then I put on my flip flops and made my way downstairs, which I tried to avoid as much as possible since half of the pack is still living at my dad’s house and the other half at my uncles. Most of the pack was in the living room, watching a movie of some sort. I went into the kitchen and poured me a big bowl of captain crunch. After pouring my cereal and milk in a bowl, I went to the kitchen counter and took a seat. I couldn’t see Taaron anywhere, so I figured he was in the shower or something.
“Hey darling, how are you feeling today”? My mother asked.
“I feel like a whale, but other than that I’m great”.
“You’re not a whale”.
“It’s a figure of speech mom”.
“What’s a figure of speech”? Taaron asked, walking into the kitchen out of nowhere.
“Me being a whale”.
“Well, you’re not one. It’s just my little girl in there”.
“What are you going to do when you find out it isn’t a girl Taaron”? I asked sarcastically.
“Oh it’s a girl, I’m sure of it”.
“Okay well find out today, but what if it’s a boy”?
“Then it’s a boy. I’ll love it no matter what, but if it is not a girl, we are going to be having another baby soon after that one because I want a girl”.
“Oh really. I don’t think so”.
“Don’t think what”?
“We are not having another baby soon after this one. It’s miserable and you’re not the one that has to deal with it all”.
“I might not have to deal with it all, but trust me I have to deal with your mood changes and everything else that comes along with it”.
“That’s different”.
“If you say so”.
“I do”.
“By the way, why are you wearing my clothes”?
“None of my clothes fit me and all of my stretchy shorts are dirty. Anyways, I’m allowed to wear your things if I want”.
“Whatever, are you ready to go”?
“Maybe”.
We got up from the kitchen counter and left the house in Taaron’s car. He drove us to the doctor’s office and we sat in the waiting room, for what seemed like forever. The nurse came out.
“Lyla Montgomery”. The nurse announced.
Taaron got up out of his chair and helped me up out of mine; we followed the nurse in the back room. She weighed me and I gained another five pounds. Then she took us to a room to get examined by the doctor. After twenty minutes of waiting, the doctor finally came in. We chose to have a male doctor.
“Lyla, Taaron. How are you guys doing today”? Dr. Thompson asked.
“We are good, just excited about finding out he sex”. Taaron said.
“Okay, well there is a couple of things we are going to be doing today. First one is finding out the sex of the baby and the second one is going to be making a birthing plan”.
“A what plan”? Taaron asked
“A birthing plan. It is where we decided which course of action you want to take in having the baby”.
“I want a natural birth”. I said.
“Alright, we can do that. Do you want any medications or no”?
“I’m not sure, I would like to try it without any medications, but if I can’t do it, then I’ll have them”.
“Okay then, that’s our birthing plan. Now, lift your shirt up and lay back”.
Dr. Thompson placed a towel around my waist of the shorts and another one around the waist of my shirt, which was now lifted up. He then grabbed this goo stuff and squirted it on my belly. It was really cold. Then he grabbed the sonogram and started rubbing it across my stomach. I could hear the heartbeat as he checked the baby out. Once he was done, he wiped the goo off of me and helped me sit back up.
“Okay, the baby is healthy so that’s a good thing”. Dr. Thompson said.
“What are we having”? Taaron asked eagerly.
“You are having a little boy”.
“A boy! I was sure it was a little girl. Check again please”? Taaron said.
“I am a hundred percent that it is a boy”. Dr. Thompson said.
“Okay fine, it’s a boy”.
The doctor left, after telling me he wanted to see me in two weeks. Taaron helped me off the table and we walked out of the doctor’s office and drove back home. I didn’t go inside the house, instead I went to my car and drove to Carmen’s house, since she was waiting for me.
“Hey girl. How did your appointment go”? Carmen asked.
“It went good. We are having a little boy”.
“Oh, I bet Taaron is beat up about that one”.
“Yeah, he hasn’t stopped talking about having another kid within a year after this one is born”.
“Jeeze, I am sure he will get used to the ideal of having a boy and he is going to be a great father no matter what”.
“I hope so, because right now, I’m not so sure”.
“It will be alright, so what do you want to do today”?
“Go shopping, I need maternity clothes”.
“Let me grab my purse and then we will go”.
I drove Carmen and I to the mall, listening to music the whole way there. Once we got to the mall, we went to the Maternity clothing store. Most of the clothes were ugly, but I did find me a couple pairs of pants to wear. I decided I would just keep wearing Taaron’s shirts. I was starving by the time we left that store, so we decided to go to the food court. I went to subway, while Carmen got in the Taco bell line. While I was in line to get my food, this guy from behind me was looking at me strangely.

Chapter Two

“Can I help you”? I asked the random creepy guy staring at me.
“Is your name Lyla Montgomery”? He asked.
“Yes, why”?
“My pack has been looking for you”.
“Your what”?
“My pack”.
“Yeah I heard that. Why are they looking for me”.
“I can’t explain it right now, just know that we will get a hold of you and then you will be safe”.
“I am safe”.
“You will never be safe Lyla. You’re a chosen one”.
“What’s your name”?
“I’m Michael. Please, keep you and the baby safe. I’ll be in touch”.
After that Michael just walked away, nowhere to be found. That was a little creepy I thought to myself. I need to find out what Chosen one means. I hurriedly got my food and made my way back over to Carmen. I ate my food silently, because I was a little freaked out at what just happened.
“Are you alright”? Carmen asked me, while we were throwing our trash away.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s go look at some baby things”.
“Alright, if you’re sure your fine”.
“I’m sure”.
We walked to baby R Us and looked at the clothes. I found this really cute outfit that said ‘Daddy’s boy’ on is so, I decided to get it. I didn’t really want to do anymore baby shopping without Taaron being with me, so we left the store. I drove Carmen back to her house and dropped her off and then I rushed back to my dad’s house. Taaron was waiting on the front steps pacing back and forth, when I got to the house.
“What’s wrong”? I said rushing over to him.
“Nothing, just worried about you. You have been gone for three hours and I thought something happened to you”.
“You could have called me”.
“I tried; you left your phone on the kitchen counter”.
“I’m sorry babe. I was at the mall with Carmen”.
“It’s alright”. Taaron came up to me and embraced me into a bear hug.
“So, what did you get at he mall”? Taaron asked.
“Some maternity pants and the baby an outfit”. I showed him the outfit that I got the baby and Taaron was really excited again. I could tell he was happy because his eyes were glistening in happiness. We went upstairs to our room and laid down for a nap. I completely forgot about Michael guy, I ran into at the mall, until we were eating dinner.
“What’s the chosen one”? I abruptly blurted out at the dining table.
“Where did you hear that”? Nathaniel my father said.
“Someone came up to me at the mall today and said I was the chosen one”.
“I think I would know if my daughter was the chosen one”. Nathaniel said.
“How would you know, you never even been around”.
“I just would know Lyla, we will talk about this another time. This is not the right place to talk about it”.
“Fine, whatever. I am going for a walk. I’ll be back shortly”.
I got up from the table and left the house, walking down the path that leads to the park. I decided to go over to the swings and sit on them.
“Lyla, what are you doing out here by yourself”? Michael asked.
“I’m thinking”.
“Well, this is not being safe. You are the chosen one and you need to keep yourself safe”.
“What is the chosen one”?
“There’s a family of chosen ones. Your parents would be one; you and your kids will be one. It’s kind of like a royal family. Other wolves, try to kill the chosen ones, so they can be in charge. But, no one has ever succeeded. The chosen wolves can only
