Chapter 1: I want to believe...

I can't believe they're actually doing it...They are sending me away....for the ENTIRE SUMMER!!!  POSSIBLY LONGER!!!

Okay, so incase you don't know My name is Summer Andrews.  I lived with me parents and little brother Jack all my life (a whopping 16 years now).  Literally ALL my life.  We were that picture perfect family, ya know the one that is always together always smiling always just...perfect seeming.  Yeah well we were.  When I was 15 and a half Jack was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.  They gave him 1-2 years to live.  He died 3 months later...

February 14th.  I was with him when it happened.  He was too weak to even talk so i just sat by his bed reading him huckleberry finn cause, being the nerd he is, it was his favorite.  Even after the steady beeps of the heart monitor stopped I continued reading, refusing to look at him as if, if I just kept reading everything would be okay.  Its now May 30th.  Ten days after my 16th birthday.  I sit on his bed still perfectly made to way he left it.  In my hands I hold the little box with a letter on it.  Its from Jack, he was always the super over planner meaning he had gotten me my birthday present months in advance.  I had read the letter, written by the smart ass himself.  It was short and sweet  and highlighted that it cost him an arm and a leg so I was required to love it.  I still however couldn't bring myself to open it.

Now back to my more current thoughts..Ahem (clearing metaphorical throat)...HOW COULD THEY!!!!

In the times when we needed each other most my parents choose to send me away!  Thats right folks you heard me my parents are sending me away for the summer or LONGER!  If Jack were here I would punch him for causing this...But hes not so I just cry instead.  I've never really believed in the whole religion thing but at time like this I really do want to believe.  I wish that my parents had raised me as less of an open minded, free belieffed, and liberal person.  I wish that I was raised in a home where heaven is see as a common fact instead of an open topic for discussion, because in times like this I would like to imagine Jack in heaven with all our deceased relatives, probably boring them to death (haha get the joke) with meaningless facts he acquired in his 11 years on this earth.

“SUMMER, SWEETIE YOUR UNCLE IS HERE!!!” I heard my mother's high clear voice bounce off the walls as she summoned me to what I feel is impending torture.  From what I know my uncle is a good guy.  Well at least thats what i've heard cause i've never actually met the guy.  Hes my mothers brother and he lives in California.  All the way on the other side of the country from my quaint little home in Main.

My heart aches as I get up and take one last look around Jack's room.  Fresh tears spring to my eyes but I push them back forcing myself to believe at least in the hope that religion is right, that jack is floating on a cloud with angles or somthing like that.

“SUMMER HURRY UP!  OUR TIME IS JUST A PRECIOUS AS YOURS!” my mothers voice rings dragging me out of my semi-happy thoughts.

“Coming!”  I holler not really caring if she hears me or not.  I pick up the box in my hands as if it is made of glass and could break at any moment as I carefully shut the door to my brothers room trying to burn his image into my mind as well as his impeccably clean room (I was always envious of his organization skills).  I step slowly down the stairs my crystal blue eyes cast downwards as my stringy blonde locks flow into my face covering what's left of the tear stain on my cheeks.

“SUM-”

“I'm right here mom.”  I say looking up, feeling like a child and sounding like one too.  She turns to face me and plasters on the fake smile she has used since Jack...departed.  The smile doesn't crinkle her eyes like it used too and behind her eyes I can see the sorrow and pain she holds within her.  Too most she just looks like a smiling mother without a care in the world but to take care of her kids.  But to me I see the bigger picture, mostly because I long for the crinkles by her eyes and the shine that once dance within them, I want to once again see her glow like the mother I used to know but I feel as though that won't happen...At least not too its fullest extent.

“Well...took you long enough.  You bags are packed and your uncle Ron is waiting outside with dad.  Listen I know you won't understand this at first but I need you too know that no matter what happens your father and I love you.”  she said holding me at arms length before enveloping my into one of the tightest hugs I have ever felt.

“I love you too mommy.”  I whispered so softly that if she had not been so close she would have missed it.

“Well lets not keep you good uncle waiting.”

Chapter 2: Rock Monster wake up call...

“Hey, kiddo waky waky eggs and baky!”  it took me a moment the recognize the gruff timbers of my uncle Tims voice.  “C’mon sweets you and i both are too old for me to carry you too the door.”  I scoffed at the absurdity in his statement.  My uncle, though he was in his early 40’s was built like a truck, i'm pretty sure he can carry a 135 pound girl for a couple seconds...Plus the plane ride was exhausting, lets just say high aptitude and a flying metal death trap don't really mix well with my stomach...

“Yo boss man!  We got a situation here!”  yelled an unfamiliar voice.  But still being stubborn I stayed where I was laid in the middle seats of the surprisingly comfy black van.

“Ugh, I really gotta go.  You can either get out your self or ima send out one of my men to come get you.”  Uncle Tim started already running off, i'm guessing to the prison I shall soon be encased in.  Great.

It wasnt even a minute before I was picked up by what felt like a couple of rock monster arms.(Yes i said rock monster arms so shush)

“Well, well, well looks like someone had a fun flight.”

“Oh it was just peachy.”  I mumbled sarcastically to who or what I am now calling the rock monster.  It chuckled shaking me more out of me semi-peaceful sleep.

“Nooooo, stop you waking me up.”  I said hoping that would cease his laughter, only to find and even more shaky ride from his now bursts of roaring laughter.  But somehow even in my tired state I finally managed to open my eyes peering up at the rock monsters surprisingly beautiful face.

He had dark hair, and light blue eyes.  I looked around only to find that wherever we are, we are definitely on the rich side of town.  We, or rather he, walked up to the big mansion that seemed to loom over us.  I would actually be excited to live here for the summer if it weren't for the current circumstances.

“Well, tiny how ya like it?”

“Huh?”  I turned to look at the rock monster once again as he spoke.

“The mansion, this is where you will be living this summer along with your uncle, my father, and a couple of the others in the gang including myself.”  he slightly chuckled causing me to groan seeing as how I am now almost fully awake.

“Don't remind me,” I said overdramatically while throwing my head back.

“Theatrical, I like it.  Maybe you can put some of that energy into walking.”

“Nah, too much work.”

Chapter 3: Garden

Ive technically been here for three days but it has felt like an eternity.  And through this eternity of hell I have suffered I ve learned a few things.

1:  The rock monster is in actuality a 17 year old boy by named Jake.

2: There is an old garden locked with rusted metal bars.

and 3: This place is a massive mansion constantly filled with various people, mostly men.

Basically hell is a very odd place.  My room is connected to Jakes through a shared bathroom.  It is horrible bt it could be worse hes never walked in on me thank god but I have walked in on him and i have no problem saying 'rock monster' actually suits him quite well.  The boy is built like a truck and its almost scarry.  A bit more of a turn on but still.

The only good thing is my roon.  Its pink and victoran style with a window seat.  The window shows one of the grandest views my crystal eyes have ever had the pleasure of seeing.  A fair back yard surrounded by thick forests and hills and lakes.  And in the corner of the yard sat the gate to the garden.  Old black and rusted it stood like somthing out of a fairytale.  I was locked up with fresh chains and a pad lock.  yet the golden handles called to me.  The gate was all that could be seen as the rest was overgrown with flowers and vines and plants i had never seen before.

*knock knock*

Iturned swifly from the window right as the bathroom door swung open revealing a certain monster in a towel.

"Hey squirt do you have any toothpaste im all out?"

"Uhhh yeah one sec."  I scrambled past him into the bathroom and opened up the top drawer and threw him my crest ultra white.

"Thanks squirt."  He walked out and with a last look at the garden I made up my mind.  Tonight would be a full moon meaning I would have plenty of light to complete my task.  Into the garden it is.
