“Keaira, get your ass up now,” I heard my father yell as he banged on my bedroom door. I pulled the blankets from off of me and slowly walked towards my bathroom. When I finished my morning routine I picked out the most elegant outfit I had in my walk in closet. I glanced at the clock and mentally flipped when I recognized that it was 7:00 am, I had to be at my office by 7:30. I hurried into my dress and let my curly, brown hair fall on my shoulders.
Today was my first day I was going to work at ‘The Morrison’s Law Firm’, proudly established by my father Mr. Michael Morrison. I placed my black heels on to match my black dress, running downstairs, almost falling on the way, I grabbed my keys and headed toward my new Fusion Hybrid, that my father both for my 23rd birthday this year. I hopped in playing my favorite CD, my favorite song ‘She did that’ came blasting through the car. I reached the office in exactly fifteen minutes, I was in a hurry to get to the elevator, I bumped into someone causing all their paperwork to fall out of their hands, “I’m sorry,” I told the person reaching down on the floor to pick up the papers which were now scattered everywhere. Standing ready to hand over the papers, I noticed that people were staring at the man and me with worried looks on their faces. “Watch where you’re going next time, you walking like you got two damn left feet,” the man snapped at me. He was really lucky I was in a mood today.
I stepped into the elevator anxiously awaiting it to stop on the fortieth floor, a few minutes later I hopped off the elevator and entered into my office and saw that my things have already been laid out and organized on my desk, I was grateful that I didn’t have to worry about doing all that. I gazed around the office seeing that I had the most gorgeous view through the glass wall, of the tall buildings and the cars that drove speedily on the streets of Greyson Boulevard. I already knew that I would love it here. I heard a knock at my office door; I slowly walked towards it hoping that it wasn’t the same guy from before. “How may I help you?” I smiled at the gorgeous, light-skinned man with hazel eyes that stood before me. “May I come in?” he asked in his French accent, “yeah sure,” I answered moving aside so he could enter my office. “Mind my manners, my name is Sebastian Thomas,” he greeted, offering his hand to me. I placed my hand in his and watched as he lifted it placing it toward his lips causing me to blush. “My name is Keaira Morrison,” I told him; he gave me the whitest smile I’ve ever seen. “So you’re the boss’s daughter that everyone’s talking about,” he said. “Yes and what may I ask are the people saying about me?” I asked him since he seems to know all the happenings in the business. “Nothing really they just say that you’re beautiful, which I can clearly see now and that you were supposed to start to work here from today, oh and that you’re a spoiled daddy’s girl,” he told me. “I am not,” I whined, “I just get what I want, when I want it from my dad, I’m not spoiled.” He laughed and headed toward the door, “wait I’m supposed to tell you that from today I’m your assistant.” “That’s great, just great, enjoy your day Mr. Thomas, I'll call you when I need anything and like all spoiled, stuck up bosses say ‘get back to your job’,” I joked, he walked out of the office. My cell-phone began to ring startling me, “Hello, who may I ask is speaking?” I said when I answered. “Meet me in my office now,” the person on the other side of the call said before hanging up. “How am I supposed to know who to meet when you just hung up,” I said to no one in particular. I left the office in hopes of getting any information about my mystery caller. “Sebastian, some guy just called me and said to meet him in his office, do you have any idea who that might be?” he looked toward me with the same scared look that the employees on the first floor gave me. “That’s Mr. Rodriguez, he a Brazilian merchant who deals with the wholesale trade of the company,” he told me, “and he is your Boss.” “What do you mean my boss, isn’t there like one general boss in this company?” I inquired, trying to get as much information as possible. “No every other person in this company works under you seeing as you’re the President of the firm you work right under the Chief Operating Officer which is our dear Mr. Leonardo Rodriguez,” he informed me, I chuckled at his sarcasm as he said Mr. Arrogants’ name. “Where is his office?” I asked him, when I remember that Mr. Rodriguez had summoned me to his office. “It’s on the forty-first floor, down the long hall when you see a big black door with the gold handles you’ll know that you’ve made it to hells gates,” he joked. “Thanks,” I told him. I made my way to the elevator and to the top floor, as I made my way down the hall I could feel my heart thumping against my rib cage, I stood outside the door, hoping that he would just be in the bathroom so I would have to go back to my office. I opened the door, poking my head inside I let out a breath that I didn’t know I was holding when I saw him on the phone looking out at the view of his office, his back was turned to me, one hand on his hip while the other clutched the phone tightly, he spoke in a stern and authoritative manner to whoever it was on the other side of the call. I cleared my throat in hopes to get his attention, he slowly turned toward me and I melted in my seat to see that it was the same guy whom I incidently bumped into earlier today. “I’ll have to call you back,” he said before hanging up the phone, “I called you to my office fifteen minutes ago and now you decide to show up,” he barked at me. I have no idea where all my courage came from but I found it, “Now you listen to me, this is my fathers’ company and I’m not going to sit here and watch some arrogant ass talk to me like that, I don’t care if you’re the COO, you are not my father,” I stomped out of the office, leaving him speechless.
Chapter 2I sat in my office pondering on the fact that I might lose my job after what I just did. The office phone began to ring startling me and drawing me away from my trail of thoughts. “Hello,” I answered shakily into the phone awaiting the voice of the man I fear the most to come from the other side of the call. “Office,” was all he said before I heard the line cut and the call was ended. I slowly made my way to the elevator all bones in my body quivering at the thought of me losing my job on the very first day, the shame and grief I would bring to my father, made me wish I wouldn’t have started this job in the first place. I wiped my sweating palms against my skirt as I stood outside the office a wave of braveness hitting me as I entered. My body quivered slightly under his intense gaze but I wasn’t going to show him that I was scared, I placed my hand on my hip, mimicking his previous action from when he had his phone call, as I stood and gave Leonardo the most intense gaze I could muster within me. “Sit,” he ordered, but of course I wasn’t going to listen to him. “I’d rather stand,” I told him, to my surprise he had a smirk plastered on his gorgeous face, wait did I just say that I hate this guy. He stood up making his way to the front of his desk; he sat on the edge of it crossing his feet at his ankles, and his hands across his broad, but firm chest. “Have it your way then,” he said, seeming amused by my every reaction. “I guess I will; now why did you call me back into this office?” I demanded already feeling trapped by his intensity. He laughed this time, a full blown hearty laugh that caused his chest to vibrate in the sexiest way possible, what is wrong with me I can’t be thinking these things. “Are you bipolar?” I asked him, not sure of what the big joke was. “No Ms. Morrison, it’s just that you excite me,” he remarked. “What I excite you, what do you mean by that, in what way do I excite you?” I was not expecting him to make that statement so I needed to know what he meant by it. “Nothing,” he said straightening himself into a standing position all emotions driven far from him, his eyes returning to its usual unreadable, emotionless state. “Now I know that you’re really bipolar, now if you don’t mind sir, I would like to peacefully return to my job,” I couldn’t think straight once I’m in a close room with him; my mind needed space to free itself. He cleared his throat, making his way behind his desk to grab a few things before walking toward the door briefcase in hand and seemed to be going home for the day. “Where do you think you’re going? You have at least,” I paused checking the time on my watch, “two more hours of work to finish before leaving here.” "Thats what you're here for,"he said, glaring at me as I was standing in front of his office door making sure he wasn’t given the opportunity to leave. "No way am I going to be doing my work and yours," I snapped at him, crossing my arms across my chest. He placed his briefcase on the floor, placing both his hands on either side of my hips he lifted me from the floor turning around, placing me on the ground behind him, he bent down swiftly grabbing his briefcase and made his way toward the door, I stood there awestruck at the sparks that were now running through my body.
I walked out of the Leonardo’s office letting out a shaky breath as my heart slowed its pace. “Are you okay?” Sebastian asked me, giving me a weird look, “Oh me, yeah I’m fine, why’d you ask?” I answered. “I
