Blogging for Bookrix

Blogging for Bookrix
By Dave H Donahue

I joined Bookrix not so long ago and never really thought about it much after I joined. I seemed to have so many lines in the water already with other blogging sites and family and stuff was a bit overwhelming for me. I have blogged for health blogs and written blogs for a few bucks here and there. By trade, I actually never really considered writing, seemed boring and a waste of time. in a world that is go go go i never really saw blogging or writing as a way of being productive. Its like you may as well find a tree and start writing on it and hope someone reads it. I guess the first blogging could of been when people would write in sidewalks in the cement before it dried of on trees with sayings like Jack+Jill. Just seemed pointless. I spent most of my working life as a Marine and an electrician so I was always either in the dirt working or doing something manually with my hands and back to make a living. So, blogging never really came into play until after 2005 when at 42 years old I began to feel ill, like real sick. I was working but my health was failing, I was losing weight and sweating all night and finally after six months I collapsed from it all. I was taken to the hospital and my family was told I may have a couple days to live, I had contracted meningitis and it got real bad. i spent weeks hooked up machines used for transfusions, I was anemic and thought Ronald Regan was still president and the prognosis was not good. in the end I survived and had to reconsider what my purpose in life was. if it wasn't to work, what was it? I just didn't know, I was raised to work and spent 30 years working nonstop from the age of 15. So, blogging has become a way for me to express feelings, they say that writing is great therapy, that it helps keep you in the moment of life. Ive been to so many doctors since my hospitalization and no one had the answers. At first they were thinking I would be brain-dead or wheelchair bound but I am neither after 6 years. I have done alot of blogging though, lots and lots of it. I started blogging for a health site and that is what got me started. Then after a couple years i decided to write my life story and I did which was published on Amazon.com. The book entitled "My life, a life story of a man infected" was a book brought on by all the blogging and writing I had done previously. It was a great experience. I also started writing blogs and articles for people who needed certain things written and were either too lazy or too brain dead to do it themselves. Its fine though, gave me experience. I am new to BookRix, I have written a few things here, not much yet but it really seems like a cool site. Ive been friended by a few people so far and they seem cool and on the ball. Maybe soon Ill find out some more cool things about Book rix, but for now Ill keep writing and posting!
