I will die by lethal injection at 6:03 p.m. – exactly one hour from now.

My only company during this time is the dingy green blanket that has protected me from the biting cold of my tiny damp cell for the last 4,749 days.

Through the iron bars, I hear anxious whispers and shuffling about as the death ceremony is prepared.

God knows I have done some terrible things in my life.

But as the guard turns the key to my cell door one last time, the final thought with which I leave the world is: “Does this make it right?”
