“Shit,”
Raven thought. He was not aware that it was already this late. Well, early morning more like it. “No worry. It would be a straight ride to home,” he continued, as he came upon a roundabout.
When he entered the round about, suddenly there were headlights coming from the next lane and an old car came into view. Raven could not see the driver as it was dark inside and the street lightings did not help much except to show that it was really an old car, ugly enough to be put in the dump yard. He could not even read the faded license plate. Thus, he understood why the car would only travel at 30km/hr and since he was trailing from behind, he had to travel at the same speed.
“I’ll speed at the exit,” Raven thought.
However, as if the driver was listening to his thought, Raven saw the car entering the exit he wanted to take. Grumbling, he continued to follow.
Five minutes later...
“Fuck, we’re in a straight road, for God’s sake! Can’t you drive any faster?!” Raven thought as he followed the car. It was then he made the decision to over take the car. He turned the steering wheel as he put pressure on the accelerator.
As he passed by, he turned to give the driver of the car a piece of his mind and...
He saw the driver’s face was burnt black on one side as was part of its body. On its other side, it was liked his skin was ripped off and only flesh remain. He had no lips, and sharp teeth could be seen where his mouth should be. Within the eye sockets, fiery red flame shone from their depths.
It took all of his will for Raven to keep the scream from coming out and steadied his trembling hands from letting go of the steering wheels. He forced himself to turn away from the grotesque being and stepped hard on the accelerator. Religious mantra ran through his mind as he speeded away.
Arriving at his destination, Raven stopped his car in front of the closed gate of his house. He did not bother to use the automatic switch to open it, rather climbed over the steel frame and jumped over to the other side. He opened the front door and could not remember if he ever locked it back. Did he even lock his car? He doubted it. He ran straight to his room and hid promptly under the bed cover.
Raven could not remember what time he actually fall asleep but the next day, he was down with fever from the ordeal.
It was sometime later that Raven heard about a fiery car accident happened thirty years ago at the roundabout, which killed a women. Whatever it was, he hoped never to encounter such incident again.
