June 11th....
I turned on the television already knowing what was going to be on all day.
I could feel the tears building up in my eyes as the news anchor Leah, began to speak.
We’ve all been dreading this day, I think because we cant say that it isn’t official, it really did happen….exactly one year ago on this very day, little 9 year old Amber Pinsgoty drown. It’s a tragedy and all of us here would just like to take a minute to think about her honor…her family has been incrediably brave, and strong….Thank you for holding on and not letting go…Amber would have wanted you too live you’re lives to the fullest….And;
I knew what was coming next. I was waiting for her to say… but before she got a chance too the television screen turned black.
“why would you watch this?”
I glanced up and seen my son, Richard. “I just… I don’t know, I cant fully grasp the idea that Amber, is gone…she was 9 years old. She didn’t deserve to die..” I could feel my throat closing and getting tighter as soon as I said her name. it hasn’t been this bad, but maybe the fact that Amber was celebrating her birthday party with her friends, Tina, and Sierra when she drowned….
Richard walked over and placed his hand on mine. “mom, please calm down…no one wanted this to happen.”
I hugged him and then sniffled back my tears. “I’m fine Richard.” I whispered as I pushed passed him into Ambers’ room.
I haven’t been in here much since her death. I just haven’t had the strength too sit on her bed, or look at all the pictures with her friends.
I took a deep breath and sat on her bed. Running my fingers across from it. We havent changed anything about her room. I guess we don’t want to have to face the fact that she really is gone.
I threw myself on the floor as the tears began to pour and run down my face. I wiped the tears and stared at my beautiful daughter in the picture frame.
