I sauntered through the forest lauging as Julia stumbled over another rock. My friends and I are walking to our favorite hangout in the woods, Hangman's cave. We started rumors about the cave years back that a girl hung herself there when she ran away from home and though no one cared enough to look for her. I ducked to avoid hitting my head on the entrance of the cave.

I tossed my coat off and set about ligiting a fire. I lost my lighter yesterday and now I had to light it caveman style. Smiling as the spark on the tinder caught and grew into a flame I glanced over to see Julia looking out the cave entrance frozen midstep. "What's wrong?" I asked alarmed. She may be a clutz but she was a brave one.

"Nothing." she muttered coming over to sit by me. Her face was pale and her lips were bloodless. Walking over to where she had been standing before I didn't see anything particulary scary unless she was suddenly afraid of spiders. The cave itself was deep inside a forest though so it was very likely that she just saw an animal or somthing and got scared, who knows, who cares! I held up my hand and let the small black spider crawl up my hand off the red clay walls of the cave. I heard the whisper of cloth as I released the spider off the wall and I whipped around and saw that the cave was empty. "This isn't funny you guys!" I called, hearing my voice echo off the back of the cave. I wasn't really worried though, we did this all the time. There was a back exit to the cave that we somtimes used when we wanted to get out fast, or as I suspected in this case, jump out and scare the crap outta people. Walking back I carefully peeked around each corner to see if anyone was going to jump out and scare me. As I reached the exit I saw the back of Jason as he fled yelling bloody murder. I darterd after him looking for the reason he was running but I tripped and before I could get up I felt the muzzle of a gun pressed against my back. "Get up slowly and put your hands on the back of your head." Grunted a deep voice. I did as told but I couldn't resist asking "Why me?".

"Because I made a deal with your friends that they could all live if they chose one person to leave behind. They chose you. Guess you learned one of lifes greatest lessons a little too late, everyone has limits.".
