The Curse

“Six days shall we have rain, six days shall we have sun but on the thirteenth day we shall have death.” His words still rang through my head like bells. It has been twelve days since I was cursed.
It had been a normal day until after school; I was minding my own business on my way home, dragging all my home work along with me, when by chance I turned around just to see a thing dart behind a tree.
The hairs on the back of my neck pricked up and I knew I was in trouble. Picking up my phone I looked down at the keypad. I pressed the 9 then again 9. And then I saw it. My skin rippled over in goose bumps as a cold steady hand clamped down hard on my shoulder. “Put that away” the voice had no emotion and I could not tell from male or female. I obeyed. “Good you will come with me, turn around.”
Slowly I shuffled around to face the barrel of a gun. “What do you want?” my voice sounded very quiet and shaky but it still took them by surprise. As they lowered the pistol I saw the face of my attacker. I knew this face would haunt me forever. They were male that was for sure.

Another drop of blood splattered what would have been a white t-shirt. It had come from the huge cut that dominated his face. The flesh from his forehead across his eye and lips to his chin seemed to have been ripped open.
I must have been staring because he got impatient. “Walk” his word was short but harsh so I started to walk away from my house “idiot the other way”. I followed his instructions…

The Man

/font>Once we had reached the white van I felt a sharp jabbing sensation in my arm and felt several arms jostle me into the van before I blacked out. When I opened my eyes again I was in an abandoned house that had clearly been deserted because it had been infested with rats, I squealed as a rat nibbled on my toe. “And sleeping beauty awakens,” I whipped round to see an unfamiliar face came forward out of the shadows, “Allow me to introduce myself, the name’s Drake.”
“I’d tell you my name but I think you already know it.” I found myself saying “but what I do want to know is why on earth I am here?” I got up and he didn’t try to stop me.
“Seven years we have been waiting for the world to change just as it was foretold. Seven years of waiting, can you imagine that? In your context it would be like you waiting outside your bathroom, while your sister does her makeup, after downing a litre of water.” I wasn’t sure whether he had tried to make the mood lighter or tried to scare me, as the exact same thing had happened a week ago. I decided that it was the first one and went along with his joke.
“Only a month ago,” He continued “I there was another rumour, one girl, that’s you, would spoil what I had been waiting for. Now I couldn’t let this happen so I brought you here...”
“To kill me.” I finished for him.
“Well, now we have lost the nice and friendly atmosphere, yes in other words.” A frown played across his lips. “You won’t stop me.” He said in a mocking voice. I stood up.
“It’s been nice talking to you but my mum will be looking for me so if you’ll give me the directions back home that will be great” I waited for an answer but didn’t get one so turned to exit the room. I could almost hear the gun ready itself for its next job. Just as the shot rang out I dived to the floor as the bullet shot past brushing my hair narrowly. A snarl from the other end of the room alerted me that Drake was frustrated so, would make mistakes.
I barrelled myself through the door which swung open and strait into the face of another man standing guard. Making use of his use of his confusion I sprinted down the stairs and through the non-existent front door. Pausing to take breath, I looked around. I didn’t recognise the street but on hearing footsteps on the stairs I made my way to the left. I had read once that if not sure which way to go always go left, I can’t remember which though, but this is no time to think about books. I concentrated on running.
Dead End. I turned to see my pursuers turn a corner and block of my chance of life. I started to cry. I was not yet 13 and I may not even live see that day. Drake had finished muttering and I remember listening through my thoughts. “Six days shall we have rain, six days shall we have sun but on the thirteenth day we shall have death.” Then to mine and his companions surprise he turned and left. With a suspicions look at me the other man left me alone.
In a dazed state I wondered back home, during my flight I had recognised a landmark. I let myself in through the back door so not to startle my mum and fell into bed exhausted.<
