Chapter 1

“Ok, Max. You go through the window, and I’ll bust through the door. You take the back, I'll take the front. Got it?” I whispered to the chip hidden inside my hoodie.

“Yeah. Ok.”

“One.. two… three.” I counted. And on three, I pushed the door open. I had already picked the lock.

Holding my gun in one hand and a flashlight in the other, I shot my arms straight out, one on top of the other. Sweeping the flashlight around, it looked as if I were in the living room. On the other side, Max did the same.

When it was obvious no one was in the room, we moved on to the other rooms.

I flattened my back against the wall while Max swept his flashlight and gun around the next room.

“Nothing,” He reported.

I nodded and signaled us to move on to the next room. I swept the flashlight from side to side, in case there was someone lurking in the shadows. Max mirrored my moves.

I lowered my gun for a fraction of a second to open a door, but couldn’t because it was locked. I snapped my gun back up.

“Ok. On the count of three, we bust through that door.” I decided.

“One.. two.. three!” I grunted and kicked the door down, and immediately searched the room for any signs of life. There was a man on the bed, and he looked terrified. I raised my left arm to my mouth and stuck the flashlight there, then searched my pocket for my phone with the picture of the person we were supposed to kill on it.

I fingers grazed it, and I took it out. My right arm with the gun was still trained on him. His arms were up in surrender. I slid the unlock button and the picture filled the screen. I held it out so Max could see it.

We both studied it for a second, then we looked up at the man. I took the flashlight out of my mouth.

“It’s him," I confirmed.

Max nodded and we both aimed our guns at him.

“W-what are you doing?!” The man shrieked.

“Only our job.” I answered as a shot rung out and echoed in the empty house. I clicked the gun back in the holster, and Max did the same. “Come on, I wanna be home in time for dinner.” I declared. We both walked over to the dead body and inspected it.

“Huh, it was a clean shot. Good one, Red.” Max complimented. I shrugged nonchalantly and grabbed the dead guy’s arms. Max picked up his legs and we both carried his body to the closet and dumped him in there.

I unlocked my phone again and went to contacts. I clicked on Ginger, and waited. The line picked up, “Did you complete the mission?”

“Aye, aye cap’n. Yes we did! He’s in the closet.” I replied with fake enthusiasm.

“Well done,” He replied shortly, and hung up.

I fist bumped Max and we both made our way to the car. But not before making a pit stop at the bathroom to wash our hands.

Chapter 2

Max and I got in the backseat, then proceeded to tell the driver our destination. I leaned my head on his shoulder, and he wrapped his arms around me. I snuggled closer to his body, and soon, my legs were on his lap. My head was tucked in the crook of his neck.

We stayed that way for a while.

We weren’t a couple, but we sure acted as if we were one. We snuggled, kissed, and held hands in public.

I pulled out my phone and deleted the picture of the man. I didn’t want anyone asking me why I have a picture of a dead man on my phone.

I’ve been killing people since I was 7. During the earlier years, I use to cry after every mission.

I grew accustomed to it as the years went by, and I got paid about five thousand dollars per kill. Only once did I make the mistake of questioning the boss about the killings, never again.

Max, my god, he’s like the hottest human on earth! His hair is black, but turns brown when he's out in the sun. His eyes… you could loose yourself in them. Also, he’s completely ripped.

I knew that, because I got a call from the boss one day in school, he told us that we had a mission. I went to search for him, and walked in on him changing in the boy’s locker room. I nearly drooled on my phone.

Max was a Junior, and I’m in 8th grade. I know, I know, he’s too old for me. Yada, yada. I don’t care. He’s really sweet, and thoughtful.

The car stopped moving, so I looked outside. We were at my house.

I swung my legs off Max's lap and pulled on the door handle. Just as I was about to haul myself out of the car, Max wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered, “Hey, don’t I get my goodnight kiss?”

I pretended to contemplate his question, by tapping my finger on my chin. He growled softly, turned me around, and slammed his lips on mine. I couldn’t help but smile through the kiss at his adorableness. He pulled back and wagged his finger, “This isn’t over.”

I laughed and pushed myself out of the car. “Bye!” I said before shutting the door and walking up my porch.

I unlocked the front door and walked in. “Hey mom.” I greeted as soon as I spotted my mom in the kitchen. “Hey sweetie.”

“I’m pooped. I’m gonna hit the hay. ‘Night.” I yawned. “’Night.” I trudged to my room and gathered up my nighties.

After I showered, I plopped onto my bed, wet hair and everything.
