"Say you love me or walk away."
Michael stood in awkward silence as his friends snickered behind him.
"Sydney this isn't exactly the best time for..."
Sydney slapped him and his friends began to snicker harder, enjoying the drama.
"Tell me you love me or never speak to me again."
A bold friend leaned forward and said in a dismissive voice. "Hey jail bait get gone. My boy Michael here can do much better then you." He sneered at her and she took a step back in disgust.
"Why don't you just go screw yourself."
His face turned red and he took a step towards her. She immediately took a few steps back in fear that he might actually be stupid enough to strike her.
Michael put a hand on his chest and gestured for him to back off or else.
"Are you going to pick this jail bait over us man?" he sneered.
Michael lowered his hand and tried to reason with his friends vigorously.
"She's not bad." He said.
"She's too young!" One said.
"She's only four years younger." Michael commented.
The bold one snorted. "Whatever man, pick or were out."
Michael stood in between his friends and Sydney looking anxious.
"I really..." he stuttered.
"You know what! We’re out." His friends began to walk away but he called to them and they stopped.
"This shouldn't be hard for you Michael." The bold one yelled.
Sydney stood quiet hoping he loved her as much as he told her he did.
Then something clicked inside her, this was pathetic. She was acting like a child, immature and scared. Tears brimmed in her chocolate brown eyes and she began to turn around.
Michael noticed her tears and began to reach out to her.
"No. I'm being stupid. I just… I didn’t know… I'm sorry."
Then she ran towards her car across the street. Tears blurring her vision she didn't see the large Chevy truck heading down the road, the loud horn woke her from her daze but also froze her. The truck screeched to a halt to little to late and she was hurtled down the street.
"Sydney!"
Michael darted after her leaving his group of friends behind.
The group of friends followed behind Michael, all being on the football team they made it to her in no time. All shouting, throwing around ideas.
"Call the cops or something man!"
"No, call the hospital!"
"What the hell do something!"
Michael leaned over Sydney’s still figure and he began to weep. "Sydney?"
She opened her eyes and smiled her hand reached out to his face and with her last breath she whispered three words he was to chicken to admit. "I love you."
The bold one stood to the back of group and began to cry. This was his fault. The death of an innocent girl all his fault. He lowered his head ashamed and broken.
Michael took a deep breath and closed her eye lids. "She's gone."
He looked at each of his friends, tears streaming down his face. They stared back. All in disbelief in what had just happened. Sydney, gone.

The next day, Michael joined Sydney, taking his own life, because life without Sydney was no life at all. A note left, “all she wanted was for me to say I loved her…”
