flickering above the shattered pieces of the fountain. She continued to stare as the flicker slowed down, the luminance seemed to fade. Perhaps staring for too long was vignetting her sight.

Every moment the light faded out, the girl screamed, wishing for it to come back, needing the sustenance of the liquid. She screamed out apologizing, screaming hateful words then back to apologizing and then for help itself. Alone. Again. But without the fountain. Without the hum behind the walls. No voice mocking her. Just her and darkness. Until the light faded and did not turn back on--until there was nothing.
