Artificial Intelligence

What is Artificial Intelligence

artificial intelligence (AI) – noun

The theory and development of computer systems that are able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.

Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science that creates intelligent machines. It aims at programming computers for specific traits such as Knowledge, Reasoning, Problem Solving, Perception, Learning, Planning and ability to manipulate and move objects.

Artificial Intelligence research focus mainly on Knowledge Engineering. It strives to make the machines act and react like human beings. This is possible if the machines have relevant, sufficient information on specific topics. Just as the human brain could segregate knowledge from what a human can see, feel, touch, understand and grasp information, machines tend to segregate knowledge with the help of Artificial Intelligence. AI implements knowledge engineering that initiates common sense, reasoning, and problem-solving power in machines.

Machine learning forms the basis of AI. When a human can learn even without supervision and can build the ability to recognise patterns in different streams of knowledge, a machine may not be able to do so without supervision. A machine may become learned using classification and numerical regressions that can be done with adequate human intervention and supervision.

While classification helps to find out the category an object belongs to, regression deals with getting a set of numerical input or output examples. This will help the machines to discover functions that could enable appropriate and suitable output from relevant, appropriate input.

Explainable Artificial Intelligence

Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) is a key term in AI design and in the tech community as a whole. It refers to efforts to make sure that artificial intelligence programs are transparent in their purposes and how they work. Explainable AI is a common goal and objective for engineers and others trying to move forward with artificial intelligence progress.

Glossary

  Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence refers to a specific field of computer engineering that focuses on creating systems capable of gathering data and making decisions and/or solving problems. Example: A computer takes 1000 photos of cats for input, and determines what makes them similar, and then find photos of cats on the internet.

Autonomous

In simple words, autonomy means no need for help from people. Driverless cars explains the term autonomous. A vehicle that doesn’t need a steering wheel or pedals, doesn’t need a human inside to operate at full capacity.

Algorithms

Algorithms form the basic component of AI; they constitute math formulas and/or programming commands that can instruct and guide a non-intelligent computer on how to solve problems with artificial intelligence. Algorithms are rules that teach computers how to figure things out on their own. It is a nerdy construct of numbers and commands,

Machine learning

Machine learning is the process which an AI uses algorithms to perform artificial intelligence functions. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are not the same but connected.
