Epilogue

Jaci Veery stared at her boyfriend's cell phone in disgust. She couldn't believe the things that were said between him and his "friend". She couldn't believe it was STILL going on. He promised it was over. He looked her straight in the eyes and said he wasn't cheating anymore. That was two years ago and all this time he's been lying to her face. Kissing her as soon as he comes home from the other woman doing God knows what with that whore. Jaci threw down the phone, picked up the kitchen knife and walked into his bedroom. There he was sleeping soundly like a baby. She knew that she wouldn't be able to trust him ever again for what he did was absolutely unthinkable and it went on for much too long. It was all there on his phone which is all the proof she needed. He thought he could get away with it but she found out. Jaci's instincts, along with her cousin and ex-boyfriend's warnings, got her as far to checking his phone. She didn't want to investigate and refused to listen for the longest time but finally Jaci felt she needed to. Her suspicions were overwhelming and unfortunately, everyone was right.

A gurgle sounded from her throat. She nearly cried right there but it was too much to even let out a sob. Running to the bathroom, Jaci lifted the toilet seat up and stuck her face in the toilet spewing out all the rage and sickening feelings she had for THAT man and the other woman.

He was supposed to love me, and only me,

she whimpered, I gave you everything you son of a bitch.

Wiping her tears, Jaci got up, packed her bags, and wrote her final letter to the man she used to love up until now.

Dear Jon,

What you did was truly the most hurtful thing anybody could have ever done. You fooled me into thinking that you were really in love with me. You played me like an idiot. We had a great relationship and I never thought you were the kind of guy to cheat on me. What's worse is that I forgave you multiple times and I was so sure it stopped. We had plans for children, a house and a damn white picket fence with a dog in the yard. I was good to you and gave you everything you ever wanted. I even dropped everyone for you. My life revolved around YOU and it didn't even matter, did it? Yes, I looked through your phone. You can be mad all you want even though you have no right to be. I should've looked through your phone ages ago. Well you can go to hell and your little girlfriend too. I promise, I'll be the one to send you both there.

Completely over you and this shit,

Jaci

This was the last straw. Jaci was tired of getting her heart broken and this was by far the most hurtful thing anyone ever did to her. Even worse than one of her boyfriends breaking her jaw every night. At least she knew that she wouldn't be with that guy forever. At least she knew that the guy didn't love her but with Jon, she really thought he was the one. She really thought Jon had loved her with all his heart. They talked about having a future together filled with little ones running around while trying to balance their careers. Jaci had absolutely no idea about his double life with another woman. When his "business meetings" were longer and there were extremely subtle hints here and there, it drove Jaci to believe she wasn't doing her job as a loving fiance. What a fool she'd been! She had no clue, despite that he did this a few times before but that was at the start of the relationship and Jaci shrugged it off when their feelings became much stronger. Not to mention, they were together nearly all of the time. It was absolutely crazy! Slamming the door behind her, Jaci whispered to herself, "It's my turn to be crazy."

Chapter One

It was midnight and extremely cold outside. Jaci sipped her bottled water and looked at the phone nervously. She knew the time had come. The 4 years that passed and dealing with the heartbreak was a breeze. She kept her promise about being over her last serious relationship or any relationship for that matter. It was the task that she had to do that got her nerves racking. Although, the closer the time neared, the more excited she felt.

Rrrring!!

Almost falling off her couch and jumping out of her skin, Jaci raced to the phone. "H-hello?"

"Hi Sweetheart! Are you okay? You sound sick."

Jaci gave a deep sigh of relief, "I'm okay mom. I'm just tired is all. Had a long day of work."

Mrs. Veery gave a slight groan, "You're not still working for Paulo are you? He's no good Jaci. Do you know how many times he's been in and out of jail? That's why we don't keep in touch with him anymore. Honey, you're going in the same direction. Why have you dropped us out of your life? You only talk to us once every few months and I'm still not allowed to visit your apartment. What's going on? You know, if your father was still here, God Bless his soul, he'd have such a fit-"

Jaci looked up at the ceiling and closed her eyes. She was used to drowning out her mother's voice every time she talked about her deadbeat cousin, the way her life was going and her father. Sure, it was true. She has changed in the past few years. Jaci used to have plenty of friends, was always close with her family, and participated in plenty of events in the neighborhood. It was also true that ever since her trust got completely shattered, she practically lived in seclusion. Too many heartbreaks can do that to a woman.

"-or how about the nice boy from the coffee shop? What's his name? Danny, Steven.. no. Oh damn. I think it was Chad. I don't know." Mrs. Veery's voice interrupted Jaci's thoughts, "or maybe it was-"

"Ma, I have to go. I have alot of stuff to do for work for tomorrow. And no, I'm not working for idiot Paulo." Jaci's eye slightly twitched. She didn't necessarily lie to her mom. It's true she wasn't working for Paulo. She already had a job as a Store manager. However, she was working for Paulo's boss temporarily.

"Alright honey. You call me whenever you need me," Jaci's mom said in a concerned tone, "take care of yourself. I love you so much and remember, you don't need a man in your life to be happy." With that, the line ended.

Jaci knew all too well how true that was. She absolutely did not need a man to be happy. What she needed was total revenge but the more she thought about it, the more frightened she became.

I can't do this. What if I get caught? I don't want to end up like my father.

She pondered the pros and cons of the situation. Her father used to be in gang related businesses and his life ended by a brutal confrontation with the type of people he worked for. You could say Jaci was the drug lord’s princess and part of the huge underground organization which involved con artists and smugglers all over the world but as soon as her father passed away, Jaci and her mother ran to safety. Many restraining orders and movings later, all was well. Until Paulo arrived back in her life and introduced her to the most charming man of all time. A man that beat her up every night if she didn't have dinner ready by exactly 5pm. A man who slept with every woman at the clubs and then forced Jaci on him along with a few smacks in the face when he got home stinkin' drunk. A man named Louis who is a powerful person loved by everyone because he works in the force.

Fortunately, Jaci left Louis after she witnessed him commit a murder due to a deal gone awry. Unfortunately, she met Jon. The love of her life. Even more unfortunate, after she left him she was full of hate for everyone involved including Paulo and Louis who found her and told Jaci plenty of times, "He's no good for you! Leave his ass!" She never listened because she knew Louis was still obsessed with her and used his power to try and get her back. Of course, it never worked but this time was different. Jaci wanted to use Louis instead, to get what she ultimately wanted even if that means working on the side for him.

A small voice in her head told her that what she's doing is wrong.

Rrrring!!

"Hello?"

"Hi Jaci. Are you ready for tomorrow?" A deep voice answered on the other line.

Jaci noticed her knuckles were pale white and realized she was holding the phone much too tightly, "No. I won't do it. I can't Paulo. It's just too much work and so overwhelming." She regretted the shakiness in her voice. There was silence for a few minutes. "Hello?" Jaci thought her cousin hung up. Silence a few more seconds then finally, a sigh from the other end.

"Jaci. Four years ago you said you wanted him dead. Why all the sudden change? Did you guys kiss and make up? Didn't you hate his guts for fooling around with another woman behind your back? You know, if you back down now, Louis is going to be so damn pissed and we'll both get the flack for what happened weeks ago. He wouldn't mind dropping us both in a second."

Angrily, Jaci replied, "I had nothing to do with that and you know it. You weren't there but you knew about it beforehand. I
