It was a cloudy, windy afternoon and the bitter cold of winter in the valleys and hills of the north coast of Sutherland was approaching.
“MEREK!” – Shouted David in a steady tone to his brother. “This is the place dad wanted me to show you ”. Silently and surprised Merek stared suspiciously inside the cave in front of him and was wondering why his father wanted him to meet that place, he really hated that, hated when his brother treated him like a child, bothering him with what he should or shouldn’t do. He was deeply angry because that afternoon he should be at school.
“Sometimes I think you don’t care about my education,... it seems aunt Gen supports you, I had to miss classes today... couldn't you wait for the weekend? I just wanted to be with my friends today. Is it so important to come here now? I ...”.
“Stop complaining Merek" - Interrupted David - "I wouldn’t make you come here if this wasn’t important. By the way aunt Gen's going to be home tonight."- He looked at his younger brother with a smile stamped on his face - "Actually she's going to stay for all the week”.
“Seriously?” – spelled out Merek with a beaming smile - “Is aunt Gen coming home tonight?”.
“She's got a week free at the job” – said David, stoping in front of the den and looking backward to his brother who was climbing up the hill towards him.
*** Later inside the cavern ***
The interior of the cavern gave access to a corridor with an architecture similar to the medieval one. There were some doors closed along the corridor, at the end of which there was a space that looked like the interior of a church chapel.
“This is amazing David, how does father managed to have all this things inside this cave? Why we couldn’t come here before? ” – Asked Merek, amazed with what was being revealed to his eyes.
“First, this always were our family private property and second, father wanted to keep this place inaccessible... and stop asking questions, you’ll understand everything soon” – said David.
David opened a secret door that leaded to three other doorways and moved towards the one in the left side.
"You need to drink this" - Said David, revealing to his brother a gold glass with a white liquid inside.
"What's this, I won't have it" - complained Merek with a strange look on his face - "Is this what I am thinking, are you doing drugs David?"
"How can you even think about such a thing Merek, you know father and his religions, Mr. Aaran wouldn't allow you here without having this".
After Merek drunk all the content of the gold glass, David smirked - "fallow me, now you can have access to the misteries of Mr. Aaran and something he left for you. Welcome to family matters my little brother" - Said David with a big smile. Merek followed his brother. They walked through a long hall, passed along some doors and opened a big one at the middle of the hall. Once inside was reveled an oval cilling and well decorated circular room. The room had no windows and gold fornitures could be seen around all the places. On the circular walls were placed six portraits with strange pictures. David went to the end of the room towards some cabinets, opened a locker, grabbed something and took a book that was lied on a table, then asked Merek to join him.
"What are you doing? You're scaring me".
"Put this necklace on, you always asked about mine, now you're having one" - said David letting out a light smile.
After wearing the necklace David grabbed Merek's arm and spelled out few strange words from the book that was in his possession.
"What are you doing?" - screamed Merek.
"Father's religion" - justified David.
A nightmare
"You really are a little man now, Merek!" - Aunt Gen said to her younger nephew - "what an appetite, I presume both of you have not stopped eating unhealthy food, isn't it?"
"Aunt Gen, we've done our best" - he took a few mouthfuls of his meal and continued -" I really need to learn your cooking recipes. Your dishes are the best in the world! "- said David with a genuine smile.
"It's so great you're staying all the week Aunt Gen" - Merek said cheerfully with a smile from ear to ear.
Aunt Gen was like a mother to them, Merek in particular always saw the figure of a mother in his aunt, he hardly remembered the accident that killed their parents, but he knew that his Aunt had been with them ever since. After Merek and David grew up, they were forced to see their aunt only a few times during the week because of her work. They love her very much. Aunt Gen reminds them of their father; she was a tall and very elegant woman, with eyes that resembled their father's, a color that was difficult to describe, between green and gray, despite her red hair that contrasted with their father's hair, which had been brown. Her beauty would disconcert any heterosexual man.
"Merek how have been your classes? You didn't get in trouble again at school, did you?".
"Of course not aunt Gen, this only happens when someone tries to insult the name of our family" - Merek looked at his aunt revealing some irritation. "I hate when people say we are strangers or things that offend us" .
"You must have more control over yourself, Merek. I believe that these episodes have their days counted my dear, we'll move soon, I already spoke with your brother and I dealt with your school transfer. We will move to Salamanca, Spain is our destiny now".
Merek look up to his aunt and smiled with little enthusiasm, did not like the idea of moving again, especially now that he was getting acquainted with his new friends.
Merek knew that he would get over this situation, for being grown up accustomed to the environment of unpredictable changes from one city to another when he least expected it.
"Merek, I know you're a little sad, I've never seen you happier anywhere than here, I want you to know that your father and I love Sutherland too. I guarantee that this time everything will be different from any other journey we've had. The place your brother took you to today is only a small part of our family affairs, there are many more things you need to know, and you're already a little man it's more than time to meet all the secrets of the family" - said aunt Gen in a confident tone.
***
It was only midnight. Merek slept soundly. Suddenly he start sweating and began to hear strange voices, the noise intensified near his ears but his eyes were still closed. The voices grew louder and louder, seeming to be even closer to his ear with a terribly loud hum. He tried to get up and open his eyes, but he couldn't, he tried to scream, but it seemed that no one was listening. It would be a dream? He kept sweating. Suddenly a dark figure caught him by the throat. He fought hard for his life. The sounds that sounded like penguins did not leave his ears. Merek struggled, screamed as hard as he could, tried to call his aunt, suddenly the figure dropped his neck lightly, that's when he really managed to wake up, meeting someone on top of him. Very scared, he pushed the figure as hard as he could away from him.
"MEREK!!!...", the figure with many resemblances to him spoke to him in a slow and frightening tone. "DEAR MEREK!!!...", the creature kept on with a smirk, "Finilly, finilly, finally... out of your body...", Merek coun't say a word, he was scared and not understanding what was happening, "I see you think I am not real MEREK, I am so real and so furious with what you and your familly made me pass through this last years. We were together but we are not the same", said the creature on a terrifyng tone, "all I wanted was to get out your boby, I tried many times, but you just suffocated me, you and your familly. I never should enter your body when you were born... But this is over... now you'll feel my revenge. Being stack in you got me tremendously crazy... and you were the worst, your father, your mother, all your familly tortured me...".
"STAY AWAY FROM HIM OR I WILL CRUSH YOU INTO PIECES" aunt Gen entered Merek's bedroom with David. Merek just stood speeshless, as his aunt arms were glowing like the sun. The creepy creature tranformed itself into a death like form and just run away passing through the walls like they weren't there.
