Delilah
"This just in, a couple found 15-year-old Cindy Lawner's body in a lake. As you can see here, the firefighters and police officers are attempting to drag Cindy's body out of the lake. Little evidence was found on who killed Cindy Lawner. The police are still searching for more evidence on the young girl. That is all. Back to you-" I turned off the T.V. before the news anchor could say any more. Just then, my mom came in the living room.
"Honey, it's time for bed," she said. I looked at the clock. 10:05. Wow, I didn't know it was that late. "Alright," I said, getting up from the couch and hugging my mom. "Goodnight, mom." When she hugged me back, she lingered, as if not wanting to let me go. Like she was afraid of letting me go. "Goodnight, Delilah." she whispered. I smiled one final time at her before letting her go.
I walked in my room. I wasn't tired, so I decided to stay up for a few hours. I turned on my computer and the lamp next to it. When it came on, I logged in.
Once I got to Google, I could see that the girl, Cindy Lawner, was all over the news. I searched up random things, like flowers, sexualities... I was bored.
I looked at the clock and saw it was 12:00. Wow. I yawned and shut off my computer and turned off the lamp. I got in my bed and dreamed of a girl, around my age. Her appearance was scary. Like a ghost or something. Anyway, I drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 2
Daryl
I heard shouting come from the other side of my bedroom door. "I'm sick of this! I'm sick of you! We're getting a divorce!" my mother's yells pierced the once-quiet air. My father raised his voice afterwards. "No! You and the boy are staying with me! You aren't going anywhere!"
"The boy's name is Daryl! And he's your son!" She was about to snap again, but her words were cut off with a yelp. I heard her fall, breaking a vase.
"That'll teach you to yell at me," I heard him mutter. I paused the song, but my headphones stayed in. I heard footsteps come toward my room. The door suddenly slammed open, revealing my father. He walked in my room, angry.
"Take those out." he pointed at my headphones. I took them off. "What do you want?" I asked him. He looked at me firecely. "You should kill yourself. You do nothing else but stay in your room!" "To stay away from you!" I looked at him straight in the eye. "I'm sick of you, too!" he slapped me across the face. "Shut up!" he yelled. I glared at him. "Why?" my dad turned around to leave. Before exiting my room, he yelled, "You weren't meant to be here! You're a mistake!" then he slammed the door shut.
A mistake? I took my headphones off and looked at it. Yeah. I guess I am a mistake. I sighed. When did everything get so... complicated?
Chapter 3Cindy
"Is she dead?" I heard one police officer say.
"I'm not sure. Let me check her pulse." Another said.
After checking my pulse, I saw the officer nod his head. "Yes," he said, "she's dead." The first officer shook his head. "Damn. What are we going to tell her parents?" the officer that checked me shrugged. "The truth. We're going to tell them the truth." the first officer sighed before they both walked away.
The truth? They want to tell my parents the truth? Alright. Well, I'll tell you the truth. I was depressed. I was murdered by a psychotic killer who killed himself afterwards. I was dead. Now, I'm alive. I'm a ghost. And now, my goal is to end as much bad people's lives with a couple of friends and have fun.
And I will go searching for the friends. And they will be like me. A ghost. Sad. And not afraid to take chances.
Chapter 4Delilah
"Hey! Rise and shine, Sleepyhead! You're going to be late for school!" Damn, why does my father have to be so loud?
I turned over on my bed and mumbled, "Just a few more hours."
My dad just laughed. "A few more hours?" he asked. "Did you sleep?" I managed to open one eye. "Not really." "Computer?" he guessed. I shook my head. "Hmm," he said. "Okay. Anyway, I better see you down the stairs in 10 minutes. Or no breakfast." I heard him close my door. I turned back over and got up, almost falling over.
I walked to my closet and opened the door. I searched throught the clothes until I found black jeans and a red shirt. I decided to wear this.
I put on my white Converse and headed out of my room. "Oh! Almost forgot!" I exclaimed. I grabbed my backpack and then headed out.
"Hey! You're actually up for once!" my dad said, kissing me on the forehead. I chuckled. "Yeah." I sniffed the air. Oh, good! My mom was making blueberry pancakes! "Did you just wake up because of the food?" my mom laughed. "Maybe," I answered. I grabbed a plate and put two pieces of bacon and two pancakes that were already made. I grabbed the syrup from the cabinet and sat down. "Don't forget your fork," she said. "Yeha, my fork," I smiled.
"This morning, police gave us terrible news." The news anchor informed. "Uh-oh." my father said as the news anchor said, "Cindy Lawner, found yesterday in a lake, is claimed dead by the police. Witnesses led them to the abandoned shack she was kept in, only to find the suspect shot. This case is closed. The police informed the parents of their daughter's death. We ask that you donate money to the parents for Cindy's funeral."
"Poor parents." my mom shook her head sadly. I sat there, quiet. Cindy, I thought. Sounds... familiar...
"Ay, Cindy. You done?" Dad's voice reached me through the clouds. "Oh, uh, almost," I said, stuffing my mouth full, finishing it.
"Bye, mom," I said, grabbing my bag. "Bye, Sweets," she yelled as I walked out with my dad. "Stay safe!"
Chapter 5Daryll
"Hey," someone whispered in my room. I slowly opened my eyes. My mom was knelt in front of me, smiling, her eyes red from crying. "Did he hurt you again?" I asked annoyingly. She shook her head, but I knew she was lying. I didn't say anything. "Honey, get up and get dressed. I'm driving you to school." I nodded silently. "Alright." I threw my covers off and sat up. My mom walked out of my room.
I spent at least a good 7 minutes looking for something to wear. I settled on a dark blue hoodie and khakis. I put on my Nikes and grabbed my bag, then headed out.
"You ready?" my mom asked. I nodded.
We walked past my dad. My mother ignored him when he
