Davao City is a beautiful place to visit with many things to do and see. The people are friendly and helpful and there are many different forms of transportation available. The taxi drivers are honest and will take you to your destination in the most efficient route. English is widely understood and security is very good. There are a lot of places to stay ranging from inexpensive to the very luxurious. Wi fi is available in many locations and Internet cafes are scattered throughout the city. While you are in Davao, make sure you visit these beautiful places.
SM is the mall of malls. There are so many different types of stores here with different kinds of merchandise that you will not know where to go first. If you like good food, there are lots of restaurants here with many different cultures of food. The dollar goes a long way and you will be amazed at the low cost. Security is very good are store employees are friendly and ready to help you. The mall is very big and will take you hours to see it all. Getting a taxi back to your hotel is very easy as many are waiting outside the mall. For even less money, you can take a jeepney or motorcycle with a sidecar. This is an adventure in itself while letting you meet new people.
Crocodile park is a great place to go to see crocodiles, exotic birds, and other wildlife of the Philippines. You can see crocodiles from little babies to full grown giants. There is a daily tour to enjoy and learn about the animals that reside there. You will see the feeding of the crocodiles and listen to a commentator who has a great sense of humor. In the evening you can watch a live show with traditional dancers who are very good and a great joy to watch. These dancers perform many traditional dances and provide you with an evening of very fond memories. This is an awesome place to put on your list of places to visit in Davao.
Paradise Island is just a short boat ride from Davao. The ride itself is very enjoyable while the air is always warm. Once you arrive at the island, you will be amazes at the beauty and the view. The beach is white sand like all great resorts in the Philippines. The swimming area is quite large and the water is a perfect temperature. The food is good and there are rooms available for over night stays. You can see passing ships and the view of Davao is beautiful. Paradise Island is inexpensive and I highly recommend going there. It is like being in paradise. I guess that is why it is called Paradise Island. Just do not forget your camera and sunscreen.
Eden Nature Park is about a 45 minute ride by taxi. The air is cool here and the view is spectacular. It is located about 3000 feet above sea level letting you see scenery for miles around. There is a guided tour by shuttle which takes about 45 minutes to complete. This is a great way to learn about the local vegetation. If you prefer walking, there is a mountain trail which takes at least 2 hours to go through. There are horses available to ride and a sky cable for the thrill seekers. There is also a restaurant with superb food, a swimming pool, and a souvenir shop with many different items. If you want to stay over night, there are many cabins of different sizes holding between 5 and 20 people. There are also larger buildings for holding events and reunions. I rate Eden Nature Park a 10 and a must see while visiting Davao.
Pearl Farm Beach Resort is one of the best places in the area to visit. It is about a 45 minute boat ride from Davao City. There are many different packages you can purchase, from a day tour to an overnight stay with 3 meals included. I recommend staying the night so you have more time to explore the place. There is a neighboring island that can be visited free of charge with a boat available every 30 minutes. There are tennis and badminton courts. basketball hoops, and you can even rent a jet ski. There is a beautiful swimming pool and also a swimming area at the beach. The food at the restaurant is very good and it is all you can eat. The drinks are extra but the desert bar well makes up for it. You are not allowed to bring food or beverages to the island, but you can bring bottled water. The cabins combine modern conveniences with a traditional look. the cabins include air conditioning, cable television, and a beautiful king size bed. They are all equipped with a patio deck for a wonderful view of other islands and passing boats. You might even see a school of dolphins. It is expensive compared to some of the other resorts in the area, but it is well worth it. If you visit just one place in Davao City, this is the place to see.
