It was a picture of a woman on a bus staring out the window; she looked absolutely heartbroken and yet absolutely beautiful. Her eyes were puffy, her hair tied in a messy knot and a bundle of possession’s and suitcases next to her. “That’s my Mother,” Blake said quietly. “What?” I asked shocked as I turned to stare at him. He stared right at the picture and softly stroked her cheek. “I thought you said you’re parents were art collectors,” I said, trying to remove the pain from his face. “Oh they are. Mother and Father did it because they loved art, they loved unique pieces,” he said and stopped. I waited for him to continue but he didn’t. “Go on,” I said gently. Blake took a deep breath and started again. “But then Father couldn’t stop searching for the next unique thing, he just couldn’t. He didn’t want too…and then he left Mother for a woman twice as young …” and suddenly broke off. I could sense what was to come. I softly touched his arm, telling him I was here and urging him to go on. He closed his eyes and clenched his hands. “He threw her out, I along with her, he threw his own family out for a woman who was younger,” Blake whispered angrily, tears slowly slipping from his eyes. I stared at Blake’s Mother for a second and then wrapped my arms around Blake. I leaned my head against his shoulder and rubbed his arm until he stopped shaking. As the shaking disappeared, I peeked up at Blake and was relieved when all the anger had left his face and had been replaced with some sort of peace. “Better?” I asked. Blake slowly nodded and a sudden smile replaced his frown. I laughed out loud. “What?” Blake asked, amused. “A second ago you were really mad, now you’re smiling like a psycho?” I laughed again. He laughed along. “Well if you must know, he got what he deserved. She sold most of the paintings and disappeared and he came crawling back to Mother and my Mother has always loved him, so she let him back in and now he has the upmost respect for my Mother,” he finished with triumph. I patted his back and looked at the painting of his Mother and wondered if I would ever get to meet her. “You want something to eat?” Blake asked. “Sure,” I said without thinking and then remembered Jacob. “Er,” I said and made Blake turn to look at me. “Um, actually I should get going, I’m sorry,” I said and bit my lip. Blake’s face soured for a second but then smoothed out. “Alright, I’ll walk you to your car,” and opened the front door. We walked out to the car where he opened the door like a gentleman and shut it for me when I got in. “See you at school,” Blake said as I rolled down the window. “Yeah, thanks for the escape,” I said and smiled. “Bye,” Blake said and moved away from the car. I turned and backed up and into the road, of course I didn’t need to, I could’ve done it with my eyes close but Blake was here. As I put the car in drive, Blake called out my name. “Yeah?” I asked, and watched him jog down to the window. “We should do that again, you know, hang out,” Blake said nonchalantly. I laughed and said “Sure, hang out.” “Maybe next time I’ll come over to your house,” Blake said and with that, turned around and ran back to the house. I stared after him and laughed; he left me no room for argument. I took my foot off the break and started driving down the street and soon enough I was on the highway. As I drove, I caught sight of myself smiling, not just smiling, but REALLY smiling. I blushed and shook my head and reached for my phone. Three missed calls. I unlocked it and saw that they were all from Jacob. I rolled my eyes and grudgingly called back. “Where have you been?” Jacob said quietly after the second ring. “A friends, why?” I asked just as quietly. “Oh,” Jacob said and then it was quiet. I shook my head as the silence lasted and then said “So why’d you call?” “Sarah told me you just…left. She said you were pretty upset too, just wanted to see what was wrong…” Jacob said with a bit of sourness. “Yeah I was, seemed like you were a little upset too,” I said mockingly. Then I took a deep breath and said “I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s gotten into me…” “Can you meet me?” Jacob suddenly said, and this time with some anger. “Um…sure,” I said, unsure of the sudden change in his voice and then he hung up. I looked down at the phone and said out loud “Jerk.” I drove down to La Push and prepared myself for whatever the hell it was that was going to go down. As I pulled into his drive way, I saw him and the rest of the group. Okay…something was up. I pulled to a stop and got out. They all stared at me with mixed emotions as I walked toward them. I stopped a few feet from them and crossed my arms. It was dead silent for a few seconds then Jacob spoke. “Is something bothering you?” He asked condescendingly. I felt my face scrunch the slightest. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” I asked, angry by the way he was glaring at me. He laughed angrily but it stopped as suddenly as it had started. “You’ve been acting weird you know that? Disappearing, avoiding calls from everyone, avoiding talking to anyone for too long….what’s up?” Jacob asked this with no attempt to hide his anger. I stared at him for five seconds as I ran through his words. Was he… asking if I was what, with some else?! I felt the blood rush to my face. “What are you implying,” I asked, letting my anger leak in. He said nothing but his face was accusing. I backed up; hurt and then the anger came. “Go fuck yourself,” I said and walked toward the car. “I’m talking about you’re ‘friend’, you know, the one you’re going to behind my back!” Jacob yelled. I couldn’t believe this. Before I could even think, I was in Jacob’s face and I was kicking and punching. I kicked him in the knee twice, then in the groin and once he was on the ground I slapped him across the face and landed one good punch right above his right cheek. And just as suddenly, I was far from him, and I was screaming. “Calm down Renesmee!” “Jacob, are you okay?” “Damn!” “Someone call Billy!” “Jacob!” A whirl of faces and voices gathered around me. “How dare you, you fucking asshole!” “Let me go! I want to hear him beg for me to stop, fucking piece of shit!” I heard myself shouting as I struggled to get out from the arms that restrained me. I watched Jacob get up and speak to Seth, his cheek was split and swelling. “What’s going on here?” I heard Billy ask, shocked. “Whoever it is holding me, let me go or you’ll end up like that asshole!” I yelled. The arms disappeared and now I was standing alone as they all stood around Jacob. Billy stood between us and took in the situation. “What’s going on?” Billy asked again but this time with authority. I turned around and tried to stop my head from spinning. “Ask her,” I heard Paul say with disgust. I whirled and said “Go fuck yourself you arrogant bastard.” Billy looked at me with complete shock. Paul looked at me like he wanted to say something back but didn’t because Billy was here. “Renesmee, what’s going on?” I bit my lip and turned away, I couldn’t hold my tears back anymore. “Renesmee, what’s the matter?” Billy asked and wheeled himself to me. I couldn’t stop the sounds coming from within but pointed my finger at Jacob and managed to say “Ask him.” “Jacob, what the hell is going on?” Billy demanded, upset now. Jacob said nothing and all was silent except for my sniffling and sudden sobs. “Sarah,” I heard Embry say as she started toward me. I really hope she wasn’t trying to come over here and say something to me; I was not in the best mood. Embry clung onto her arm but she ripped her arm away and walked over to me. “Oh Renesmee,” Sarah said and hugged me. I couldn’t stop the sobbing now. “Shh, don’t cry, I know you wouldn’t do that, I know you wouldn’t, their just being idiots,” Sarah said to me as she rubbed my back. “Jacob’s accusing Renesmee of cheating, like the freaking idiot he is,” Sarah said away from me to Billy. “Jacob, I thought I taught you better,” Billy chided. “Dad,” Jacob started to say but Billy cut him off. “For you to drag everyone into your problem and publically humiliate and gang up on Renesmee, the woman who has stood faithfully by your side is unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable,” Billy said with anger and disappointment. Jacob said nothing. “And as for you all,” Billy said to everyone else. “Shame on you for even agreeing to this, you all are just as guilty as Jacob.” Sarah moved me to the side so I could see everyone but it wasn’t really working, tears were blocking most of my vision. “Billy, we felt it would end up like this, we were just—,” Sam stopped short when Billy raised his hand. Everyone’s head hung down as Billy became quiet. “I’m sorry Billy, I didn’t mean to use that sort of language…I’m just really upset,” I whispered and wiped at the tears. “It’s alright Renesmee, calm down,” Billy said soothingly to me. Sarah hugged me a tad tighter when my phone went off. I took my phone out and as I did, I dreaded to see the number and name that would pop up. I cursed my phone and as the ringing continued, the silence thickened. “Renesmee, answer it,” Billy said with a sigh. I obliged, and with a shaky hand answered. “If he wants’ to breathe for another minute, he’d better start running, and that goes for every single one of those damned dogs,” Dad spoke angrily as the sound of wind flew by. I knew then that the whole Cullen clan was coming and even after Jacob accusing me of such, I loved him, and wouldn’t want him hurt. I quickly hung up and tore away from Sarah’s arms. “I have to go,” I said quickly and started for the car but then decided that I would stop them in the woods. I started running when Billy called to me. “No, let them come here,” Billy said. “Billy I can’t do that, what if they hurt,” I broke off and swallowed the lump in my throat and wiped the tears. I looked over to Jacob for a second and then looked back down. “Renesmee, let them come,” Billy said and his face promised peace. I shook my head and ran into the forest. I pushed myself past my normal limits, I couldn’t let this happen. I could hear Dad, he was close. “Dad!” I shouted. I ran toward them now and prayed I would make it. Dad flew by me but I grabbed his arm, of course nothing happened to him, I just got dragged along side with him. “Don’t try to talk him out of trouble Renesmee, this will not be forgotten,” Dad growled. “Please Dad!” I yelled. Dad refused to speak to me and I knew this was pointless. I pushed myself off of Dad and went the way I had come, I had to be there
