Bullet
Being summoned to Snake’s office always had me on edge. Because I was still a probate, I could easily be kicked out. My nerves were jumping all over each other on my way to his office and my breakfast I just had was making a direct way back up my throat. I felt like such a pansy ass having these nerves, but there they were. I have been here for about a year and I haven’t been patched in yet. Hell, some guys were here for a year before me and they weren’t patched in yet either. I knew there probably wasn’t anything to be worried about but being in the hot seat of Snake’s office always made me jumpy.
Knocking on the door, I stood up to my full height and steeled my spine for whatever was coming. Although I knew I didn’t do anything wrong, you could never be too sure about anything. So as soon as he opened the door with a huge grin on his face, the fucker must have known how I was feeling.
“Come on in, kid.”
Fuck. I knew right then this wasn’t anything to panic about. Snake and Knuckles shared their office since they always needed to be in contact. was no point in wasting space since the office was so fucking big anways.
“You have been here a while now, haven’t you?” he asked. Which I knew was somewhat of a rhetorical question, but I still answered.
“A little over a year now, Snake.”
“I usually don’t do things this way, but you pulled the impossible and brought Stana’s sister back for her. In turn, making Crow a much happier man since Stana is now fine. She was a fucking wreck while you were gone. Crying every fucking second. It was not the regular clubhouse while you were searching for her sister. So with that being said, we want to patch you in. Of course, we will have church and you will be voted in, but no one else knows besides us and Crow. You do want to be patched in, right?” he questioned me in all seriousness.
Shit! I couldn’t believe this was finally happening. There was nothing I wanted more than to finally be a part of this brotherhood, cement my place in this club that I called home. Having a bigger purpose in this world, other than being the fuckup brother and son that couldn’t do anything about what happened before I came here. Next thing I knew, Snake was behind me. slapping my shoulder.
“You ain’t gotta worry about none of the shit that is going through your head, kid. You proved yourself to us and now you will be one of us. That is what the brotherhood is. We are willing to bleed for you, kid. Get used to it.”
Snake and Knuckles knew everything of my past. I didn’t really feel like telling everyone else about myself, yet. It isn’t that I cared what they thought of me, I couldn’t give a fuck less, but dredging those memories up for no reason would bring me back to a place I never wanted to go again.
“Thank you, Snake, but honestly, bringing Riley back was never an option for me. I don’t know what it is about her, but she will be my old lady. Ya know, it never occurred to me that I would find someone this young in my life that I could see being with forever, but there is just something about her,” I confessed.
“You know, kid, I see the look on your face that I saw everyday in the mirror when I was with my wife. Women have a strange way of getting under our skin. As soon as they are, there ain’t no gettin’ them out. But good luck to ya. Crazy bitches,” he muttered at the end of his speech. He told me to get the hell out of his office and I left to go find Riley. She was the first one I wanted to tell. Speaking of which, that got me to thinking about what happened last night.
Meeting Reese was something I couldn’t even describe. There were so many emotions running through me. First and foremost, I felt disbelief. I couldn’t believe I was actually seeing what was happening, but there it was right in front of my face. A completely different person than the Riley I came to know and was slowly, piece by piece, falling in love with. Yeah, I may be young, but that is the only thing I could explain as to what was happening to the organ that pumped my body full of life. It was almost beating for her.
So, seeing Reese come out like that definitely had me surprised, but at the same time, it was so completely real that I couldn’t do anything but accept it. Accept Riley. Honestly though, it made me feel good that Riley had someone looking after her when she needed it. It all started to make sense, why she got that cold look in her eyes sometimes. It must have been Reese trying to come through.
I completely understood why she was afraid to tell me. Any normal person would have probably freaked the fuck out, but I was far from fucking normal. She needed to understand though, I wouldn’t fucking give her up if my life depended on it. There wasn’t anything she could do to make me not love her. As it was, I needed to make sure she understood that every single day.
I found Riley being backed into a corner by one of the other probates. He was a newer kid that just got in. His name was Rubble since
