she let the whole situation go.

She laid her head on my shoulder and whispered, “Yeah, I am okay now, Axel. I know you don’t understand the way Reese works, but she is thankful you stopped her when you did, she would have killed him and she doesn’t want to put either of us in that position.”

As I sat there and listened to her telling me about Reese, it made it even harder for me to accept the fact that I was attracted to Reese. It really made me wonder how I was going to bring that up to Riley. Being that Reese always wanted to protect Riley, it was an automatic extension of my feelings for Riley. I didn’t know how to explain it other than that. “I need to go downstairs and help them with a few things. You gonna be alright up here for a little while, baby?” I asked. She told me she was going to go find Stana and the twins. Knowing that the babies would help cheer her up only made me think of her pregnant with my baby. Nope. Not going there right now.

Making my way downstairs to the interrogation room, I noticed that everyone was standing outside the room. Everyone except Rage. We all knew what that meant. As if thinking about him brought him to the door, it opened and I could just see inside. Rubble was tied to a chair and he was crying with snot running down his face. That was just ridiculous. “He is all yours, brother. Just don’t kill him,” Rage grounded out. I was sure he was pissed too, since Riley was his half sister.

As I walked in, the rage I felt before only multiplied because I kept seeing Rubble back her into the corner. I didn’t say a word as I stared at the piece of shit that tried to hurt my woman, and would have forced himself onto any other woman if he had the chance. That was the last of my thoughts as my fist flew into his jaw. I hit him so hard a couple teeth flew out of his mouth as his head whipped backwards. The next thing I remembered I was being pulled off him by Rage. He threw me into the wall and got in my face.

“That is enough. Now, go get yourself cleaned the fuck up and I will take care of this.”

Breathing heavily, I pushed myself off the wall to see Rubble who was now unidentifiable. His eyes were swollen shut and his face was one big bubble of purple and blue bruises. I took a deep breath and let it out before I turned to leave and get upstairs for a shower.

Getting into the bathroom in my room, I shucked all my clothes onto the floor, stood in the cold water and watched all the blood run down the drain. Letting out the beast inside me scared me because I didn’t just black out when I was angry, I stopped feeling. I ultimately lost myself in my rage, and sometimes I wasn’t sure I would come back out the same person I was before I fell into that deep dark black hole. Hearing the shower curtain move, I turned around to find Jade, one of the clubwhores naked behind me. Fuck! Could this day get any fucking worse?

Riley

Playing with the twins and hanging out with Stana made me feel a little better about everything that happened earlier. I mean, technically I wasn’t aware of everything that went down because Reese took over, but I knew what was happening and I knew I would have to deal with it eventually, but I didn’t want to process that right now.

Honestly, all I wanted was to be wrapped up in Axel’s arms and his warmth. Giving the twins a cheek pinch and Stana a kiss on the cheek, I left to go in search of him. I found Rage at the bar, so I knew they must have come up from the basement. I saw some blood on his knuckles that I subconsciously knew was from Rubble. That little fucker.

You are gonna have to deal with that anger sometime, babygirl. You can’t hide behind it forever. Maybe Axel will help you with it in bed?

Rolling my eyes at her comment I made my way towards Axel’s room. His door was shut so I knocked but got no answer. I cracked it open and saw the bathroom door was open and heard the shower was running. That was perfect. A hot shower would be amazing right now. It would help boil the day right off my skin. I stopped cold in my tracks when I saw the pile, or rather, the barely there pile of women’s skanky clothes and whorish stilettos on the side of the bed that I slept on last night. That was when I heard the voices.

“Come on, baby. Just let me help you get rid of that rage. I know what it is like,” the bitch said, in what I guess she thought was a sultry voice, but just grated on my nerves like someone biting a fork. I felt it then. The anger that Reese was talking about. It was all bubbling up into what I could only describe as a fury so deep that I thought my fucking heart was going to beat right out of my chest. I didn’t know what came over me, but as Reese tried to take over as she usually did in these instances, I pushed her back. This was my shit to deal with and I needed to deal with it sooner rather than later.

I decided when I heard Axel tell her to get the fuck out and she didn’t listen, it was time for me to step in. Stalking into that bathroom like my ass was on fire, I pulled the shower curtain back and I was momentarily stunned by the beautiful body of Axel.
