I see all of my stuff already unpacked and laid out on his counter. Someone was busy last night while I snoozed away.

I brush my hair then pull it up into a clip to quickly get ready. Wyatt comes strolling into the bathroom a few moments later. I watch him in the mirror as he turns the water on then drops his shorts. All rational thoughts leave my head, and I feel myself get wet between my thighs. He looks over his shoulder at me and winks before stepping into the shower. I can see every hard fine line of him. The man is a piece of art. My heart races.

“You can join me if you like,” he says before stepping under the spray of the shower. When he reaches between his legs, grabbing his cock I drop my mascara and dart out of the bathroom. I can’t believe him. He’s so not playing fair.

I find my clothes neatly put away in the closet. I love that Wyatt took the time to unpack my things. I grab what I need, getting dressed as quickly as possible before a naked Wyatt tries to join me in the closet. When I make it to the kitchen I see my coffee sitting there with the milk and sugar waiting for me. I make my cup and step out into the garden to sit down. My bagel and phone are waiting for me on the table.

I sit down with my coffee, taking a sip before I take a bite of my bagel. A small moan leaves my lips. This is all a little too perfect. I might still be dreaming.

“My favorite sound.” Wyatt drops down onto the other chair. He’s in his normal three-piece suit. He kicks his legs out, looking relaxed. It takes me a moment to realize he was talking about the moan I made when I took a bite of my food. I duck my head, my face starting to heat. I’m not sure why I suddenly feel a little bit shy.

“This is nice,” I say, feeling the need to break the silence. I don’t want this to be weird. It’s never been that way between Wyatt and me since the moment we met. I don’t want it to start now.

“Agreed. We could have been doing this for years.” He picks up my bagel, stealing a bite for himself. I reach over and wipe the cream cheese off the corner of his mouth. He snags my wrist, bringing my thumb to his mouth and sucking the cream cheese off. This man is trying to kill me.

“Wyatt,” I warn, my body starting to heat.

“Sorry, beautiful. I know you have to get to work and you hate being late.” My stomach flutters the same way it did the first time he called me beautiful. My mind is still trying to catch up with everything that’s happened in the last twenty-four hours.

“Crap. What time is it?” I grab my phone to check.

“You’re fine.” He pulls out his phone. “Your car is here.”

“My car?”

“Yes, we can fight about it now and you can be late to work or you can take the car and we’ll fight about it later.” I glare at him, standing up. “And by fight I mean me making you come on my fingers again.”

“Wyatt.” I smack his arm. “You’re insatiable.”

“I’m finding that true when it comes to you.” He looks so serious as he says it. I don’t have time for this. Meredith is probably going to be in a terrible mood today, and I don’t want to add to it by being late.

“I’ll see you tonight,” I say before I start to slip by him, but he snags my wrist to stop me. He pulls me down so I fall into his lap. He kisses me before I realize what’s even happening.

“I won’t be late.” He releases me. “Keep your phone close. Wedding stuff and all.”

I scurry out the door. I always keep my phone close. You have no choice with a boss like Meredith. When I exit the townhouse, there is a car waiting. The driver is standing holding the door open for me. They get me to work in record time, and I’m even a few minutes early.

I hit the elevator and smile, thinking about how Wyatt said he won’t be late tonight. I scan my emails on my phone, stepping to the side as a few others step on.

“Did you hear Wyatt Donovan is getting married?” one of them says. I pull up the gossip blogs on my phone. There it is. Along with a picture of him and Meredith out last night. I bite the inside of my cheek, trying not to laugh. I know the look on Wyatt’s face. He wants to be anywhere other than at the table with her. Meredith is looking at him like he’s her next meal.

She’s going to be pissed when she finds out it’s me that he’s actually engaged to. How the heck is that going to go down? For so long I’ve always insisted we’re only friends. When the elevator stops at my floor, I step off. I take a deep breath and prepare myself to deal with her.

“My office now!” Meredith snips instantly. She was waiting for me. Everyone turns and looks our way. I wish a hole would open in the floor and swallow me. Then I remember that I never did what she asked me to do last night. I’d been so wrapped up in Wyatt, I’d forgotten all about it.

I follow her into her office. She slams the door behind me. I’ve never seen her this mad before. Still, as always, she looks impeccable.

“I’ll make this easy for you. You can either call off the engagement or you’re fired.” I stare at her for a long moment, thinking smoke might come out of her ears.

I burst into laughter.

Chapter Fifteen Wyatt

“I’m fired.”

I sit up in my chair so fast that I nearly launch
