my lips as I watched her bang things around and fix our plates. “The nerve! Showing up uninvited! Did she think you would just sit around pining for her?”

Knowing Franny, she’d probably never considered I wouldn’t be sitting at home alone. Before her, I’d had my share of the club whores, but I’d been faithful to Franny, even when we weren’t having sex. She hadn’t seen the other side of me. Then again, Glory hadn’t either, but she watched everyone around her, and she’d known the Dixie Reapers before coming here. She had to have some idea we were a bunch of horny bastards who had plenty of options.

I put Sienna in her high chair and buckled her in. Since she’d just woken up, I knew she’d be hungry. While Glory put the pasta into two large bowls, I got a few jars of baby food down from the cabinet and fed Sienna. I wondered when Glory had last taken her to the doctor and when she’d get to move on to something more solid. We hadn’t really discussed it much.

“Does she have a pediatrician in the area?” I asked.

“No. I meant to ask Zoe and Elena who they use, but then I get sidetracked by something and forget.”

“I’ll get the name and number. Wouldn’t hurt to set up an appointment and get another opinion on our girl here. Maybe things have changed since her last visit,” I said.

Glory came over and ran her hand through Sienna’s short hair. “I wish that were true. I haven’t seen any difference in her, other than she smiles and laughs a lot now. She’s happy here. Even though I knew the Dixie Reapers, I didn’t hang around them much. I’d considered Tank’s woman, Emmie, to be a friend, as well as a few of the other old ladies. I wouldn’t have said we were close, though. Still, they were the only friends I’d had in a while. Sienna and I were largely on our own back in Alabama. To be surrounded by a community like this is different for both of us, and I think she’s thriving with so much attention.”

“Well, who wouldn’t love our girl? She’s pretty perfect, just like her mom.” I winked at Glory, making her cheeks turn a rosy pink.

“We should eat before the food gets any colder.” She sat and picked up her fork.

“Sorry about Franny,” I said, feeling like I owed Glory an apology. Not just for Fran showing up unexpectedly, but… well, for everything the woman had said.

“Not entirely your fault.” She eyed me. “You can’t help being drawn to a damsel in distress, and she played the part perfectly.”

She wasn’t wrong. “Good thing I wised up and decided I needed a strong, independent woman.”

Glory smiled and leaned over to kiss my cheek. A warmth spread through me, and I knew I’d made the right decision. Bringing Glory and Sienna here, claiming them, was exactly what we’d all needed. They were my family now, and I’d do everything I could to keep them safe and happy. No matter the cost.

Chapter Seven

Glory

Sienna had gone to bed an hour ago, and Wolf had dozed off on the couch. I’d crept from the living room and explored my new home, stopping in the master bedroom. My things were put away and I could see into the bathroom where my toothbrush shared the holder with Wolf’s. It was intimate and should have scared the crap out of me. Moving in was a huge step. Instead, butterflies rioted in my stomach. I only hoped Wolf was everything he seemed and I didn’t come to regret the choice I’d made. From what I’d learned, there was no going back.

Now that he’d claimed me, I was his.

Forever.

The butterflies swooped around some more and my hand trembled as I shoved my hair behind my ear. Seeing his ex earlier had scared me at first. She’d been stunning, and I’d worried he’d decide he wanted her back. But hearing the way she’d spoken to him, and seeing the revulsion on her face, had ignited a fire inside me. I’d wanted to punch her, drag her outside, and beat her ass. Somehow, I’d managed to hold back. How could she not see how wonderful he was? I’d known right away she’d been using him. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d been so angry.

The fact his club hadn’t noticed made me wonder if they just gave women a free pass. I’d heard Demon had once branded a club whore who’d endangered Dragon’s woman, but I had a hard time picturing it. The men here might be rough around the edges, and perhaps they were rude and crude at times, just the same, they seemed to have good hearts and I had trouble imagining them harming a woman. Even if she had deserved it.

I moved farther into the room and ran my fingers over the quilt covering the bed. It didn’t look like something a man would select and I wondered if Franny had bought it for him or helped pick it out. The thought of her being in his bed, this bed, made me want to burn the damn thing. It was stupid to feel so jealous over her. She clearly didn’t have true feelings for him. But Wolf must have felt something for her to stay with her for so long, to let her bully him into hiding in his own home, unable to be comfortable or relax completely.

And she’d called me a puta. I’d Googled it because I’d never taken Spanish. If someone had said that to me right after I’d been raped, it would have hurt a lot more. I’d been a virgin until that night. Even though I didn’t think more than two men had hurt me, since I’d passed out, I couldn’t know for certain. It had bothered me for a while. Still did if I were being honest with myself. As much as I wanted to know who
